      Try to find a physical therapist that specializes in athletes. Even better if they themselves are athletic. The ones who are focused too much on “normal” people are just trying to get you to be pain free in my experience, while the athlete PT’s want to get you BETTER.

    I used to be an avid runner and developed debilitating pain in my knee while running. I’ve had this for over a decade and have been to orthos and PTs (apparently not good ones). I started doing this and I’ve gone on two pain free runs in a row now. I’m absolutely shocked. I’ve literally tried everything short of witchcraft at this point and a little CZcams short might have solved over a decade long problem.. crazy

    Hello! Thank you for all the great content. I was under the impression the side lying clam/side plank works the glute of the leg that is opening up rather than the one at the bottom, so when I do it I use muscle mind connection to help me open my thighs, but in the video you say otherwise and have his weaker left side on the bottom, have I got it wrong?

    • @davidjanbaz7728
      @davidjanbaz7728 Před rokem +1

      What you missed is that he lifted his body weight with the lower leg first before doing the clamshell with the top leg .
      If he had left his left hip on the ground then you would be right but he was doing an isometric hold with the left hip also.
      That is a more advanced technique than, I would give to many of my back pain patients ,because he is obviously a strong athlete without back pain.
      You can try it with or without the band on both sides in a side plank also or with a weight on your hip for more resistance.
      I have been a Physical therapist assistant for 30+ years. Watch the video again and you should be able to see his advanced technique!

    • @SoVZS
      @SoVZS Před rokem

      @@davidjanbaz7728 Thanks, David. I did notice that it's a plank as well but was still under the impression that it's the top leg that's the focus not the bottom one. I guess I don't understand how the bottom leg is benefiting any differently with the added clam shell than it would from a simple side plank.

    • @davidjanbaz7728
      @davidjanbaz7728 Před rokem +1

      @@SoVZS it makes the isometric hold on the bottom leg much harder with the clam shell of the top leg .
      It's easy to test just by doing the different techniques.
      There is something called overflow of strength if you do a heavy isometric hold before you try a new max bench weight you will have a better chance of making it . The body will recruit more muscle.
      The clam shell on the top leg does this same thing to the lower leg.
      That's why if you break your leg : working out with heavy weights on the good leg will help the broken leg keep it's strength better than not doing anything.
