  • I haven't made one of these in a long time! Our No.59 Natural veg tan trucker long wallet used to be a cult favorite for a few denim heads out there but we never sold quite enough to keep them going. But I decided to throw on a GoPro and make a few of them up and get the pattern up for you to try out as well. Enjoy:)

    I can't decide between edge dye and edge paint. What's your preferred edge method?

    • @andyshields5935

      I've tried both and found using edge paint looks nice, it also seems to last longer.

      This dye widely used in Japan and other craftsmen. I see Korean craftsmen use Italian made Fenice edge paint. here is the link to see. This guy sells with the shipping price, but if you buy other stuff from other sellers in Japan, it cost 5-6 dollars, plus shipping.www.etsy.com/ca/listing/805370344/kyoshin-elle-leathercraft-acrylic?gpla=1&gao=1&&CjwKCAiAv4n9BRA9EiwA30WND5fMxcNBOMpBLWXmeJvCF6ETPB8_wOJmT-BmnPn9grk9knh1p2ZxTRoC0gYQAvD_BwE_k_&gclid=CjwKCAiAv4n9BRA9EiwA30WND5fMxcNBOMpBLWXmeJvCF6ETPB8_wOJmT-BmnPn9grk9knh1p2ZxTRoC0gYQAvD_BwE

    You always do a good job. So nice to see a young man teach an old leather smith new ways. Don't know about the cord on lanyard though. Anyway blessings on you and your family.🤠

    6:00 When that happens to me, rather than take a chance that the needle won't go through correctly, I remove the stitches then hand sew with an awl. Nothing worse than having to replace the whole panel. When it comes to dye vs. edge paint, I do both. The leather paints are really great these days, but they always eventually wear away. When it does, if the leather underneath is near the same color, the customer will be happier for longer. Probably won't even notice. Cut, sand, bevel, dye, slight burnish to get those fibers down, prime then paint. UNITERS makes a really good edge primer I use consistently. I also find the primer makes colors more vivid. Good stuff brother. Keep up the great content.

    • @whitandpark
      @whitandpark  Před 3 lety

      Yeah it's really not too hard to re-stitch it. You can always just walk it with the wheel if you want to be real careful but handstitching always works too:) Uniters. is great stuff, thanks for the kind words and support!

    Your no 2 Palosanto puts a smaller bevel? I'm looking into getting a no 0 from Weaver here soon because my no 2 from Tandy is too beveled for smaller things as you were saying. Would that no 0 be okay do you think? Comparable at least in size to your Pal no 2?

    I do like this and am tempted to get the template download, might proofread the description though as I would gather this would be intended for bikers and hotroders among others and not as just a women's wallet. A modification I would do is instead of leather for the strap I would do either paracord or chainmail in round mail or byzantine style with clips on both ends. I have a byzantine style chain on my own truckers wallet that was made with bright aluminum 16ga. 1/4" i.d. rings and using a smallish stainless latching hook on both ends

    • @whitandpark
      @whitandpark  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for pointing that out. I quickly copy and pasted the description from our women’s wallet template before the video went up and didn’t catch that. It’s definitely a trucker or biker wallet, just fixed it, thanks for the heads up!

    Really clean, Parker I love your work. I truly do, but mannnn, that shot at 11:16 of the stitching kills me. If only it was hand stitched it wouldn't look like that. Either way, the natural leather looks grand.

    • @whitandpark
      @whitandpark  Před 3 lety

      I 100% disagree with you. But that's fine. I don't think it looks bad at all and from what i've learned about our customers, most people aren't bothered by it or even notice a difference between a hand stitch and a machine stitch. But by all means, keep hand stitching your projects if that's what you love

    • @louisgianfrancesco
      @louisgianfrancesco Před 3 lety

      No it’s fair enough, I did see a video about your best selling vertical wallet and the vote about hand vs machine stitched for a cheaper cost so I understand. I’ve only ever saddle stitched and I just love the slanted stitch on both sides.
