- FIT and FOBT are common screening tools for colorectal cancer
But some misperceptions exist, which I will talk about in this video

Very informative, thank you.
Thank you so much. My stool sample tested positive for occult blood. I hoped to have the test again and if negative this time I’ll forget about it. So thank you for explaining the importance of not doing that. I get it. 🙏🏾
no , it does not work like this. Any one +ve, even if repeat is -ve, warrants a consultation and most likely endoscopic examination
Very informative..
That was helpful. 👍🏻
very good info.....you need to keep posting

You are so inspiring! I am a medical student
I take it as a compliment, thank you
Is a scope the same as a colonoscopy?
After severe diarrhea went to see my Dr. May 12 and 18 test FOBT negative then i had diarrhea again may 29 and tested positive. And i have burning pain heartburn and burp a lot my iron is low and now I'm scared what's happening
I am sorry I cannot give medical advice on youtube, please check with your local doctor
Can eating ground hamburger everyday before taking a test cause a false positive?
On a FOBT, yes. Excess myoglobin (hemoglobins cousin that lives in muscle tissues) will make a FOBT give a false result, as well as many other oxidative agents.
Yes, the old FOBT may have false results by eating red meat so one needed dietary restriction in the past. But the new FIT is more accurate
FOBT yes, so most of us will use FIT instead
