Good Day sir . I have been detected with Hepatic Hemangioma during routiene ultrasound with dimensions of 2.87x1.67 in left lobe. After follow with Gastro surgeon my AFP Test has come high 57. All other blood test, Lipid Profile , urine profile are normal. Now Dr told to do CT Scan. My question is: 1) Can AFP level go up in case of Hepatic Hemangioma upto 57. 2) Is it better to go for Contrast MRI instead of CT scan. Yr reply will be deeply appreciated. TIA

My thoughts are polyps could caused by several factors such as diet, exercise, genetics, environmental conditions or maybe even from certain medications or viruses/bacterias. Maybe a combination of two or more. I’ve always been a fit guy, diet has been decent (not so much in my younger years 30 and younger). I consistently eat a lot of fiber, fruits and vegetables. I consistently kept my weight between 150 and 160 pounds and I’m close to 5’9”. I drink alcohol only on occasion and don’t/never smoke. I’m 54 and I finally did my first colonoscopy a few days ago and they removed 3 polyps and also diagnosed me with Divertricular Disease. My bowel habits were normal but I did have a lot of bloating especially shortly after eating. The only thing I can think of that might have caused my polyps are genetics and environmental factors. I was exposed to toxic chemicals and other hazards over my life span. I also suffer from chronic respiratory and sinus issues.

Thanks Doctor for this but I have a question concerning the serious cases because my eyes are yellow already and I am taking the medication you mentioned can you please give information on that?

Hbvdna is less 20 and hbsag is around 5400. Fibroscan results were: 122 and 7. I’m using TAF ( made in China) . I’m worried if the medicines is controlling hepatitis is hurting me or not? My fibroscan results changed a bit from 6.3 to 7. Do I need to worry? What can you tell me about my situation? Thnx a lot in advance

so my problem mine was not diagnosed early like he said all his patients were. mine has progressed to autoimmune hepatitis. I also am unable to take the Urso. I already know everything he said. The only issue was I can't take the Urso and I'm late stage three not stage two which is what he was talking about. His patients were. Hi doctor this is what my friend said. I don't want her to die. What can she do? The medication they give her are making her very bad. It's a medication to keep her there till they find a liver transplant. But she feel like she is dying when she take it. If you had stomach cancer with atrophic gastritis and had part of the stomach removed what’s left is now intestinal metaplasia and a few polyps top test benign goin in to take all out what the odds bottom have is cancerous

Hi Dr. Desmond, I have a similar situation. I have above high normal GGT and above high normal Total bilirubin but normal AST,ALT,ALP, triglycerides, HDL,LDL. I dont drink alcohol, if I were to document my consumption it would confidently say once every 2 months and its just 1-3 beers. I have no pains in my liver and i only take milk thistle supplements and multivitamins. No other medications. What could this be?
