    Hey nice job. Just a quick story I worked as a Plumbing, Gas and Mechanical inspector in Birmingham,Alabama for 30 years and living a dream life retired. As one memorable inspection was at the State Fairgrounds with many vendors bringing their fully set up trailers equipped for food and assorted delicacies. One in particular was a husband and wife who really seemed resistant of me and a health inspector coming inside the trailer. The husband had a medium size beard with a ponytail and was really outdone us informing him his four propane bottles could not be inside his trailer. They were located under a cabinet supporting his griddle. I wrote a stop work order to immediately get the propane tanks outside and explain the reasoning behind my concerns for public safety and his own. I informed him I had more inspections to make since all the vendors needed approval before they could serve to the public. He was calling me everything imaginable and it wasn’t very nice. as I informed him I would be back soon to insure the bottles were outside before he could operate. As the health inspector and I made our rounds to the other vendors , it was only a short time before his wife come running up to us in a frantic, saying please come back to their trailer! He had ignored our notice and began serving food and the entire side of the trailer blew a hole in the aluminum siding where the propane bottles were located and a majority of his beard was gone his face was cherry red and he was laid out on the ground in shock. The fire department came with Paramedics to put out the fire. Fortunately his wife had gone to get accessories from their van and she escaped the explosion and the man survived. Propane bottles leak and even if they don’t, the gas expands and the bottle have relief valves that discharge those gases and need fresh air to dissipate as to not to accumulate in an enclosed area. Please install your propane bottle outside and pipe to your inside appliance. And after each trip take a soapy spray and spray all connections for safety precautions. Propane is a heavy gas and will quickly accumulate inside a cabinet and once any standing pilot or a match is lite you may not survive. All propane code’s requires they are never to be placed inside a structure, and certainly not under an enclosed cabinet. Hope you the best in your project!

    Great job on this video. I stole your idea with the ball valve and Im really liking it. Same manufacturer also makes an NC "auto-close" version of the valve, which make wiring a little simpler

      I believe the reason I didn’t use that one is bc the auto close usually a little bit of power at all times while the one I am using only uses power while it’s actively changing from open to closed or closed to open

    I’ve looked at a few of these gray tank videos. They all show the e-valve mounting on a straight extension from the tank. That creates a relatively long, unsupported lever. Would it be better to have some support for that lever or is it so light that no support make a difference? Also, why not just use a nipple to connect the valve directly to the tank?

      all tanks are built like that, you could make another hole on the bottom of the tank and use that for your drain. I Installed mine the same way, when I'm using the van a lot I just fill the tank up a few times and drain it to wash it out. Nice install

    DO NOT USE OUTDOORS!!!!!!!!!
    I purchased this valve and installed on water tank outdoors, above ground. It was exposed to rain and water splashed but never submerged. It failed with in a few months. Took it apart and found it rusted and water inside. It is rated IP65. I contacted USSolid and was told Quote
    "Hi,
    It is stated in the manual that the ball valve is IP65 and cannot be used outdoor. I'm afraid that the gears are rusted due to used outdoors.
    Looking forward to hearing from you, thank you.
    I will say before failure valve worked beautifully! It just can't be used outdoors

  • @gregnorman3183
    @gregnorman3183 Před 2 lety

    I don't understand. If you're using a three wire valve, why not use a spdt switch? Yellow from valve to battery negative. Red and blue from valve to either side of switch. Positive from battery to center post on switch. Would this not work or am I wrong?

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  Před 2 lety

      This valve only will work with a dpdt switch. This set up only uses power to move the valve from open and closed and then again from closed to open. They make another valve that will work with a spdt switch but it it uses constant power although small to keep the valve in the closed position. You can read about it on the valve link
