  • In February 2024, Choir of the Earth invited participants globally to lend their voices in support of the sub-postmasters affected by the Post Office Horizon scandal. Led by our esteemed Musical Director Ben England BEM, our singers learned Queen’s We Are The Champions and recorded it from their homes around the world. Our skilled audio engineers have now meticulously mixed their recordings and on Tuesday 23 April 2024 at 17:00 UK time we will premiere it to the world!
The Post Office Horizon scandal remains one of the UK's most significant miscarriages of justice. Sub-postmasters were unjustly convicted of theft and fraud when the faulty Horizon system caused discrepancies that falsely suggested financial shortfalls.
The consequences were devastating: hundreds of innocent lives and livelihoods were shattered, with many facing bankruptcy, loss of homes, and even imprisonment. Despite knowledge of the system's flaws, the Post Office pursued relentless prosecutions.
On 23 April 2021, the Court of Appeal overturned the convictions of 39 sub-postmasters - a pivotal victory. However over 900 sub-postmasters were wrongly prosecuted and - to date - fewer than 100 convictions have been overturned. The fight for justice continues.
This event not only displays solidarity with the sub-postmasters on the third anniversary of the Court of Appeal's ruling, but also aids in raising awareness and funds for the Horizon Scandal Fund, which provides much-needed financial assistance to those affected. I enjoyed recording my voice, contributing to this project. Congratulations, Ben, Mark, choir, engineers, and to all the people that are behind this beautiful performance creation. I only wished we all were acknowledged like they had done it in the past, showing our names and even our photos (to be honest, I was waiting for that at the end of the video)😔 God bless everyone 🙏🏻 👋🏻

I've been at the Inquiry most of this week, so missed this, but will watch it now.

Its so weird how you can pick your own voice out on the track, quite remarkable! Amazing effort. I was with several of the former SPM's today, and cannot even articulate how much they all appreciated this. Wendy Buffery said she saw it live on Nick Wallaces book tour. If you perform this in London ever, I would like to be part of it please! Proud to have been involved.
