I slowed the speed but blurs …also I use CC (closed caption and transcription …I frequently mute sound and view at my on speed…81 years old and learning to adjust LOL. I think I’ll be ok for a few years as long as I don’t lose to brain cells

Wonderful information! I wish now that I would have bought the color palette of foxglove seeds the other day, but I didn’t realize I needed THIS growing season to start them for next year. And I do not know what the secret is to growing. delphinium. I cannot get it to come back the next year 😢 and yet my annual Snapdragons don’t die back in my zone 5/6. 🤔
if you have pets maybe you know….foxglove is very toxic for pets…they just have to brush against it…and if they lick their fur…

You have no idea how helpful it would be to lead with your ZONE and GEOGRAPHY somewhere in the top of your 'how to' area.
UK south east. Zone 8-9 we don't really have zones in UK as we are just a small island with a temperate climate. It's not like the US where you vary vastly. I will try to remember though.

I started my delphiniums March , will they flower next year ? ❤ I planted ranunculus a few weeks ago the corms and they are growing, I believed it would come up next year . I’m so new to this .
Started last year with David Austin rose , then went to 50 seed packets, I now know why it’s called a nursery, I had to be so attentive. But wow worth it now .
I had to create flower borders fast 💨.
The delphiniums should be fine. The ranunculus might be mis timed. What zone are you? Ranunculus hate hot weather. They like to flower in cooler weather. You might have missed the boat with them. They can over winter for early flowering but the prefer later cooler summer to start growing for flowering the following spring early summer. If I were you I would dig them up if they haven't started to grow yet. Let them dry out and start again later in the year. Depends on your zone when though.
What would you sow in the garden in Connaught, Ireland? The weather can be very dry or torrential rain and it's plagued by slugs in this garden.
Do you start these flowers in trays or straight into the garden? I think that this garden is in the south of England. It's such a difference in conditions.

I am actually going to do a slug resistant plant video. I have been pretty good with slugs and snails since going organic but this winter and spring was so wet I lost so many plants including most of my dahlias. My honeywort, campanula, valerian, sweet peas actually, foxgloves and sweet rocket seemed to all be slug resistant. I lost all my sunflowers and dahlias though. I am putting together a more in depth video so watch out for it. I alwasy start them in trays (watch my stop wasting your money on plastic plant pots it shows you how I do mine) because I have more control over the young plants then until they are strong enough to survive. Your climate is probs similar as we are also quite dry in south east with bouts of torrential rain when we get it.
Please tell me what zone you're in and how low does it get during your winters. I live in North Carolina USA and it rains a lot in winter here We got down to 18 degrees last winter Could all the plants you talked about overwinter in those conditions. Just found you site. So informative
Yes. I think you are a similar climate actually. Well we are temperate you are hotter and more humid I think. All the plants I mention are pretty hardy. so I think you'll be fine. I just double checked your zone and yes they should all be fine. I did just double check that these plants can survive your winter temps and I can happily confirm they can. They are really tough! Which of these are able to grow fairly well in shade/partial shade? I live amongst huge cedars and deciduous trees and during summer all I get is dappled or 5-6 hours of midday sun.
I am obviously limited on what I grow. Fuschias do well.
Yes fuchsias are great for shade actually. Honesty and the foxgloves would do best I think, as long as it doesn’t stay too dry. I’m guessing if fuchsias do well it’s humid so honesty and fox gloves is my recommendation of all the ones I mentioned.

How do you get the seeds to germinate if the temps are hot during June-July? I planned on September at the earliest. Zone 9b, hot hot hot
These flowers set seed during the height of summer and are naturally designed to drop seed and germinate during summer. Not all seeds need cool germination.

I live in zone 9a. We're very hot. 105-115 is our normal range, so I start seeds indoors on heat mats in March so that I can put them out in April because by May we will be in the hundreds. The heat is too brutal by June and July and is hard on the little seedlings if they are in full sun. It's hard to keep the soil moist enough to germinate. Our area is dry. I don't know what part of the world you are in. I know zone 9 is also Florida, so that is different conditions. Our timing, though, is just different than more temperate areas.
@@GreenGranny yes in that case i would start them august September. We had a heatwave last summer so i did start seeds in September and the did very well, or like you say start them earlier and if big enough and watered enough they will tough out a heatwave.

It's called greater knapweed. Not to be confused with common knapweed. It's justs a beautiful natural looking plant and the bees and butterflies love it. It does not have thistles. The latin name is centaurea scabiosa.

The vagaries of garden plants!. I think the camelot series of foxgloves flower same year but I wouldn't bother wasting time trying. Just sow them for next year instead. Strange about your delphinium. I wonder if something is eating it under ground. It's definitely not the cold killing it as they are so hardy. Yes snapdragons are really much hardier than people realise. Mine survived our winter too.

In the south east of england on average it gets down to -5c (23F) not for prolonged periods though. We don't really have zones in UK but I htink I am hovering between an 8 & 9 from what I gather.
