  • The Brussel Sprouts in the raised garden bed are "popping off". There are little baby Brussel Sprouts are peeking out from the stem. In this episode, we're going to prune them so more energy can go to the sprouts and not the leaves.

    Kalettes are the new superfood in the gardening. I wonder if I take the brussels sprouts of the plant one by one to see if the plant will go for another round like a kale plant?

    • @arizonahomestead
      @arizonahomestead  Před rokem +1

      @ZE308AC I don't know if they will go another round, but definitely worth a try. Kalettes sound awesome. I had to research them aa they are new to me. Thanks for the information! 👍🏽

    What a timely video! It's my first year that I've ever planted brussel sprouts and mine were looking exactly like yours. I had no idea how to trim. Will you be doing a follow up video on how to pick the sprouts and when? PS it was okay that the screen was blurry, we got it and it was helpful you put a pop up explaining the reason why. Kindly, Theresa and Cam

      @Flour, Eggs and Yeast • Theresa and Cam that is good to know. I was so boomed that it was blurry and I'm glad it was timely for your garden. I will definitely do a follow-up and we will harvest together. Sautéed Brussel Sprouts with bacon and onions! What are you 2 having? lol 😋 Yum!!!

      @@arizonahomestead LOL that sounds amazing! We like ours quartered, then with a bit of olive oil & sea salt for 15 minutes in the air fryer. SO good & crispy!

    So helpful! Thank you! I have several healthy looking Brussels Sprout plants, but I definitely haven’t pruned them. They haven’t produced yet, and have bolted. Is it too late to get some sprouts? Should I cut the flowers?

    • @arizonahomestead
      @arizonahomestead  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes, definitely cut the flowers off. It may be too late depending on the temperature in your area. I think Brussels Sprouts are challenging to grow but delicious. Happy Gardening!

    What straw are you using for mulch. Where did you purchase it?

    • @arizonahomestead
      @arizonahomestead  Před 2 lety +1

      @Putin Hynes - We got straw bales free. I was looking Craigslist one day and this farm was giving them away after an event. They used them for hay rides, decoration, and seating.

    Can you leave the vein in when cooking the leaves or should you remove it?

    • @arizonahomestead
      @arizonahomestead  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @makaylaforbes6719 I would remove it as it may be a little tough. I do the same with my Collard Greens. Thanks for asking. 👍🏽😊

    What was the end result. Did it work. When you do videos about pruning . You need to show what happened on the same video. When you harvested them. Then I would know if it really worth my time to do it. .
