Yep this is the strangest concept for me also.. but there's exist experiment with the same name as this channel name (Milgram)... So the concept probably come from that experiment

I feel like the name of the project is an enormous taunt towards us, the audience. It is probably named after the Milgram Shock Experiment wherein the participant is raised to the position of a teacher and asked to punish their students (administer an electric shock to them) whenever they answer incorrectly. The experiment aims to find out if people would be willing to perform violence simply because someone told them to.
Similarly, we are raised to the position of a judge, thus playing right into their hands. It is up to us to punish or to forgive the prisoners (the students in the actual Milgram experiment) and we think that grants us authority. However, we are simply obeying the people conducting this Milgram project.
The more interesting thing is that in the actual Milgram experiment, the student was actually an actor, who would pretend to receive an electric shock every time the participant punished them, such that the person being punished was actually innocent and unharmed, but the participant thought their actions were affecting the other person. Many such participants delivered fatal shocks (or at least thought they did) to their students.
So perhaps there's way more to the story than what we're being told. Maybe Es (that's us) is the one being tested and all the prisoners are actors. Perhaps they're all innocent and our verdicts won't do anything to them. But we're still gonna judge, aren't we?
I was thinking along the same lines. The prisoners might be guilty or innocent, but the "true" purpose of this experiment might still be to see how we (in the role of Es) react to those people and their stories.
Which would probably make me NOT vote at all in such a situation, or if I can't help but voting, to vote innocent on all of them, no matter what I think of their crimes. Like... I'd refuse to be the judge as I'm not qualified to be one, so whatever I feel about their crime is unimportant.
Es also seems like a combination of the abbreviations 'E' for experimenter and 'S' for subject, which the original study used.

@@ray3341 I think that "Crossark" said they might all be innocent because in the original milgram experiment (explained by Chris just 3 comments before mine), the "teacher"/judge didn't know it but the "student"/sinner was actually acting: the student wasn't telling the answers he thought true but the ones he was told to tell and didn't get the punishment but acted as if he was; this way, the songs might not be telling the truth but just created stories and the sinners might be acting too. When seen like that, all the sinners are innocent

I thought I'd clear up that the guilty and innocent is more of a misconception it is better to say the system is forgiveness and not forgiving instead, since this is sort of a social experiment and building trust is apart of it since all of them are criminals

Holy! Someone in the comments said a theory that Es might be one of the prisoners but doesn’t know it yet. When they were showing the layout of the prison there were 11 rooms and not 10.... What if one of those rooms is for Es?? I have a feeling that these trials would lead to a death sentence and it’s because of Es’ choices thus making them a murderer??? Also damn I love the concept of this!
Es must have some kind of connection to the prisoners, I feel like it would be pointless to have the MC be a stranger with no ties to the prisoners. Although maybe that's reflective of how we, the audience are complete strangers? idk lmao
@@kurootetsuro9342 To be fair, Es is/we are in the role of a judge, who is suppose to be impartial in their decisions and not have any ties to those being tried. People have been speculating, however, that Es isn't in as much control as we're led to believe; after all, this is named after the Milgram Shock Experiments. Plus, even though Undercover is something of the series's main theme, it's also Es's own song, extracted from the box we see at the beginning and end
Real late reply, but Kotoko's newest song has her calling Es 011... Sounds like Es might really be in it too, and Kotoko knows more than we initially thought

at 1:35 there is a symbol of a ram and a sheep (?) on a scale. sheep symbolize knowing your place/ obedience to a higher authority while rams symbolize the power to overcome/ break through and it is also the icon for action which is the 5th element of heroism. the entire concept itself draws parallels to the milgram experiment (an experiment to see whether evil was drawn out of the need to obey a higher authority). + es may also be a prisoner too (they lost all their memories 0:11)

Also Jackalope says he is Es' "caretaker" 0:30 (Just think of me as your caretaker) but I think he hides the truth and he is actually his guard

単純に気になったんだけど最後なんで起きるとかじゃなくて囚人が『気づく』って表現になったんだろう。

もしかするとSくんも他の囚人と同じタイミングで連れてこられた？気づく=意識を失った状態で誘拐に近い形で連れてこられた？
もう１つ気になったのがこれ裁判の後にどうなるの？ミルグラムが裁判になにを求めてるかがいまだに不透明なのが怖い。
赦してどうなるの？赦さなかったらどうなるの？っていう結果についてなにも語られてない。
ミルグラムにはほんとに色んな裏がありそう。

ミルグラム実験は、人は一定の状況下であれば、誰もが残虐な判断をしてしまうのかを試す実験であった。もしかしたら、人殺しは一人もおらず、試されているのはこちらの方だったりして。

I just want to say “Es” is the original name for ID in Freud’s theory of like the Ego, Super ego and the ID
The ID is basically your desires or impulses, whatever they may be, something banal like food or something darker
OH! I haven't thought of that... I was merely thinking that it's interesting they named them Es, which is german for "it". I heard of Freud, but I didn't make the connection at all. There could be something to that!

とりあえず僕なりに考察してみたので置いときます！
ミルグラムという名称はミルグラム実験から来ていると予想されます。ミルグラム実験は閉鎖的な状況における権威者に従う人間の心理状況(ミルグラム心理)を見る実験です。
ここでミルグラム心理をMILGLAMの状況に置き換えてみると
閉鎖的な状況→刑務所
権威者→看守
心理状況→歌や映像
上記のようになると思いました。
ここで思ったのは刑務所の箱は11個、つまりエスの分まであります
ここでふたつの考察が産まれました
1つ目は権威者がジャッカロープのパターンです。この場合心理状況を調べられる受け手はエスつまり私たち視聴者です。2つ目は権威者がエス(私たち)であるパターンです。受け手は10人の囚人になります。エスの設定が私たちの写し鏡にしては作り込まれてることから前者とも考えれますが赦すか赦さない権利が私たちにあることから後者とも考えられます。
ここからは別の考察になるのですが僕の勝手な考察としてエスは元ヒトゴロシ何じゃないのでしょうか？根拠はありませんが記憶が消されてる点とジャッカロープの「うさぎが喋ってる？忘れてんのか？」という言葉からジャッカロープと接点があるのではないかと少し不思議に感じました。長文失礼しました

@@user-fk8yi9tl6g ！！あ、ちょっと分かったかも…実はミルグラム実験というものがアメリカであって、くじ引きで教師役と生徒役に別れるんだけど生徒役は電気椅子に座られて生徒役は雇った役者さん、教師役は生徒役に問題を出題して間違えたら電流を流す、そしてそれを少しずつ上げていくっていう実験(ちょっと端折ってるからあとは自分でどぞ)であかなつさんが言ってることが正しければ…ジャッカロープはこれと似た実験を行っていてこれでいう教師役としてエスを選んで他の囚人実は全員役者…？あーやっぱわかんね(長文ごめん)
