This time the story is set in the Wild West. It's the first recording from a new Mary Black album to be released later this year - working title 'Marguerite and the Gambler and other stories'. The moral of the story rings very loud in my heart.At 17 I was with someone.Others for their own selfish reasons decided we should not be together.He had been married but seperated until I came along.Dog in a manger sort of situation.That was 40 years ago.We went our separate ways.For anyone deciding that a couple in love shouldn't be together.They will some how.Let them be
I've watched Ricky Lynch play this song for many years. Mary Black does a great job with it. If you ever make it to Cork City do yourself a favor and go see Ricky Lynch play. One of the most talented songwriters and artists in Ireland. And one of the most decent men I've ever known.
IV been to Cork a few times in the past I would love to see this songwriter perform.Alas my traveling days are no more.☘️

Christy Moore and mary Black are the voice of Ireland.They will always be in our hearts.I attendend a concert many years ago of Christy Moore in the Olympia while on holiday and will never forget singing along to all his songs That concert I shall very forget!Hope to attend another of his if I am lucky.The Dubliners The clancys Mary Gallagher and so many others will be inmy heart forever.I taught my children the words when they were only 8 months waiting for the band to start on the windowsill of a pub in Westport!Those were the days!HOPE WE SHALL ALL PASS THEM ON TO OUR CHILDREN!

Love the storytelling here. I've always admired and treasured storytelling. My grandparents had that gift. Mary Black has that gift as well. She is so loved and admired. Great lady. One of the greatest voices and storytellers of all time. 🌹☀️🌙
