- How cool is this!? I've loved the look of the CCM Spitfire range ever since the original bike was launched at the Bike Shed a couple of years ago....then I met Henry Cole who recently bought the Flat Tracker version and he very kindly said I could ride it! Of course I grabbed the chance and a few weeks back headed down to Henry's place to try the bike out...here's what I learned.

I love the fact that there is no music on, so I can hear that lovely sound of the engine, better than music anytime.
I agree!
What a great little bike that is! Possibly would never have known about it if it were not for Henry’s kindness and the TMF channel. Kudos to you both ✊
I have to get one of these in my life, it looks absolutely gorgeous and what a top guy Henry is for letting you ride it. Thanks for the review Mr Flyer! 👍
Agreed on both counts!
Awesome bike...thanks for the ride-along and the walk-around! Cheers!
She's different and a real beauty, spot on review as always TMF. Enjoyed your excursion with Richy Vida too.
Love the look of the bike, beautifully made, good old fashioned craftsmanship
Sounds so good, thank you for sharing with us TMF! Great vid
Thanks for watching Ewan - always good to know you’re there!
My ultimate weekend back road scracther. i just love the simplistic look with a bit of modern tech thrown in.
Me too...
I was lucky enough to see one in the flesh at the Scottish bike show and they’re works of art and I say that as a mechanical engineer. They’re as close to perfection as hand made can get.
You know it's TMF time when the bacon butties are ready. Another quality review. Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Bike Run tomorrow - would love to do it on this wonderful CCM.
many thanks love them, awaiting delivery of a cafe racer, great to see your video.
Hi tmf every thing about the bike is absolutely fantastic nice ride review
Great video, just put a deposit on the CCM Bobber for December, cant wait, they really look amazing , sounds great and is British !!!
Nice exhaust note on the overrun, very niiiiice!!
Thanks to Henry Cole for sharing the CCM. Not very often do we as rank and file motorcyclists get more than a passing glance at low production bikes. TMF thanks for yet another entertaining and informative video.
Peace!
It's only 10K, you don't need to be a millionaire to get one, and they aren't overly rare, there is one in my town I see regularly, compare that to 3 Enfield Bullets(or 2 if you count mine) and about 8 of the new Enfield 650s.
I have been to the factory, I was looking at one of there 450’s (can’t remember the model) when you go to the factory as a potential customer you get a full walk around and they share some of the history too.
Proper "toy bike", it's beautiful! full of details, that's my type of bike, thanks for sharing
Fabulous little bike, great sound as well
The last time I was back in England I bought a 2nd hand CCM 644. What a fabulous motorcycle, so much fun. It's a shame I sold it again when I left. I'm now thinking about buying one of these new CCM's soon. They look brilliant. I might even buy a 2nd hand 644 as well.
The more you look, the more little details just make it. Wow, that's a cool bike.
Indeed it is - amazing price too when new....might struggle now to get one for less than £10k....
I like the attention to detail. The torque markers on the nuts and bolts. I also almost bought one a couple of years ago. Wish I had I could have enjoyed it and sold it for similar money 2 years later.
Ditto!
YES! What a lovely thing!
Very nice. Owned a ccm r30 some yrs ago, very nice quality bikes.
Hi TMF - great bikes and got my money down on the new Bobber. Just fun to have (I’m hoping) and it comes when it comes! As ever, yours aye, Alan
the CCM looks great! if i had one myself i would like to have the seat the same colour as the grips! but the bike looks great! i hope the retro look stays with us for a long time! great review and video! thank you (heart me lol )
That was interesting Tmf I like the look of ccm . Thanks from Danny
That CCM flat track jest brings a smile to my face. what a fine looking machine! thanks for the show and tell... and thanks Henry.
Looks as though you went through Bampton. Hoping you missed the speed cameras in some of the villages around there. But as you say a lovely area in South Oxfordshire. Fascinating bike thanks Henry & TMF
I'm not familiar with the area at all....so I'll have to take your word for that...speed cameras did you say? Uh oh.....
CCM = Clews Competition Machines or back in the 70's when they were the only ones building 4 stroke MX bikes affectionately known as Clews Concrete Mixers. I was looking at some at the Classic TT a couple of weeks ago with the idea of possibly buying one but the pricing system seemed very strange. The models they had on display were loaded with billet and carbon parts along with other extras alloy wheels ohlins etc. When I ask for a price list for the extras so I could price one up before placing the order, I was told you put your deposit down and then they send you a price list of the extras you can add but i was told it was around £2000 for the carbon and Billet pack. I guess you could easily double the list price of some of the bikes they have on display due to the extras fitted. Clearly a case of if you have to ask you can't afford it. But they are a stunning looking bike.
What a beautiful machine!
Cool headlight, gives it a unique look.
Great review of a cool bike
The Cotswolds do look good on a summers day
Yes lovely down there....
Good review TMF. Nice Bike.
I reckon that might be a contender for best bike to go round the world on, simple, well made, super light, perfect
absolutely not. For that you get Honda or Suzuki or BMW. Therefore you can get parts everywhere. Of course money and time no object you can do it on anything.
Thought I would dislike the CCM but having watched your review I have decided I’d like one! Dream world sadly....
Thanks to TMF & CCM I’m joining the world of motorcycles! FT6 arrives this week, I just need a licence 😳! Still I’ll have something to look at and a field to practice in.........
First thing, at 5m20 just as you said you'd wait until you were out of the village before going too nuts I looked up at my TV to see Clive Owen placing two nuts (eventually five iirc) on a bench he was sitting on in an ad for Betfair, that just had to be mentioned....second thing, what's going on with the fuel cap on this CCM, I had hoped you'd mention how it works
Was looking at them at the NEC last year. Bike of the show for me, attention to detail is brilliant, dream garage would have one for sure. (Might even be in the livingroom)
Yeah I agree - great stand at the show too!
Nice review TMF, as you said it's an enthusiasts dream...to ride, park up and admire!. It's Clews Competition Motorcycles....Cheers, Steve
....as I said in my caption on the screen I think you’ll find!
@@TheMissendenFlyer should have gone to Specsavers....!
Hi TMF ,I went to a dualsport event over the weekend. Some of the trails are in common with the Eastern Backwoods discovery Rte .I met a guy from England doing the BDR. I recommended he check out your channel. Maybe another sub.
The bike is lovely but what a day to go gliding!
What an amazing machine. It looks as if half of it has been removed. Just goes to show that most bikes seem to have 'too much stuff' on board. Good sound too.
Nice bike looks very well made but that seat may be a bit hard if going a long way, Henry is a Fab bloke 😎
Sadly, it isn't well made.
I've owned a CCM R30 for some time now and I love it. I absolutely love the new spitfire but unfortunately I'm not able to afford one atm, kids drain my funds lol. Great video great review thanks :-)
Tell me about it Tim!!
I was very tempted by the original version when I saw it at the London Motorcycle show, if I hadn't bought a Guzzi V7 only the week before I would have gone for it. Recognise all of your test route as just down the road from me. The next village you went through after leaving Henry's place was Bampton, used as a location in Downton Abbey.
Was it indeed! Thanks for watching....
Lovely bike. I saw them at the Edinburgh show in 2018, they were the best looking bikes at the show by far. The start / stop routine seems a bit of a faff though and out of context with the back to basics charm of the bike. Thanks as always TMF.
Yes I was surprised by that too...
Without doubt the best looking bike I have seen, I can think of nothing I don't like. Massive thanks to you and Henry for sharing this little slice of exclusive biking heaven.
Closest to motorbike perfection you'll ever get and owned and reviewed by two nice chaps. Vids don't get any better than this!! Just off to ACF 50 my new R1250RS now..........
Enjoy Jon!
But you didn't buy one, you bought what everyone else buys. It's one thing to gush on TouTube but when it comes to parting with one's own hard-earned cash reality becomes apparent. This bike may be nice, but for most people that's as far as it goes.
@@barryolaith I reserve the right to admire and appreciate anything I like - doesn't mean I have to go out and buy it. Anyway, I can't always afford what I like, I'd love to own a flying Spitfire, but probably never will!
Saw a limited edition ccm at box hill a week ago, was more of a scrambler style I think. Really nice looking bikes.
Good looking bike. 68 degrees F in August is nice.
Sure is! ...on both counts
Wow, beautiful bike :-)
Hiya mate, I stumbled onto this CCM Spitfire range a couple of days ago and think they're all awesome! I'm looking at the Bobber but I see that they have the brown leather wrap on the handle bars a bit like a tennis grip for want of a better description. Is there any danger of those pealing off when they get wet or are they formed to look like a "wrap"?
They seem quite substantial iirc
A bit off topic, but i earlier posted about looking at the CCM's in the Isle of Man and was wondering if you had every thought about doing a tour including the IOM. You don't need to go during racing weeks there's plenty to see and do without the racing. But if you want see some racing I'd recommend the Classic TT/festival of speed.
I have got the last FT6 just paid in full for it should be ready end of the month can’t wait just going through the extras list for it deciding what to add on.
Hey congratulations!!
Very nice little bike that.
Love it !
It'd be interesting to see which you'd prefer (money no object). This or the Indian FTR 1200 S? 🤔
TMF and Spitfire sound good together in the same sentence :-)
My mate has one of these and I could look at it for ages. Nice bit of British engineering (except for the non British engine!) but his wife won't let him park it in his lounge to stare at instead of the TV! When out with him, I can still hear it behind me over my bike and he seems to sit very high on it. Hoping to have a go one day. He lives a bit more than a stones throw from you so be sure to give him the nod if you see him on it.
I certainly will Stephen!
Looks good. I would love a ride.
TMF, guest appearances on "The Motorcycle Show" next year then ? :-D
Hehe, steady on there!
sounds great
What a lovely bike!
Indeed!
I'm located in the US and the CCM Spitfires may be my favorite bike ever. What would it cost to have one shipped if possible?
Ultra -cool bike!
What a lovely thing. As bikes should be , I’ve had a good look around one a couple of times they are bike art. But that stand. You should do a trip around the Cotswolds some time great biking spot. Cheers mate 👍
I’ve done many! A long time since I posted one on CZcams mind but they are out there!
TheMissendenFlyer I’ll keep an eye out for ya 😉
I have one and they are great...
Interesting review as ever & what a great "little" bike. There's plenty of fun to be had away from 200bhp superbikes it seems.
Indeed there is! Thanks for watching....
The 200 hp superbike is pretty pointless on modern UK roads. I always kept below 100 hp and went for lighter bikes. I had a KTM Duke 690 which is all the speed you need to be honest. If I had another Bike it would be one of these.
Wow. Awesome!!!!
How do we get to watch your new best mate on The Motorbike Show? Just started watching after getting my first steed and can’t seem to find earlier series anywhere other than poor quality copies on tinternet! Loving your channel. Should be on tv.
I dunno I'm afraid....
Great video....did anyone else get the ASMR advert for Honey? That did weird tingly things to me :S
Motorcycle art.
Quick question. Is the second calliper an optional extra? Probably doesn't need one due to the weight and output but it looks like someone just took the second one off
...I think that blanking trim is cool!
@@TheMissendenFlyer I think we will have to agree/disagree on that one
Yes! wish they sold them here in U.S.A
A thing of beauty, really. The frame alone is a work of art; beautiful brush strokes with an engine floating beneath. Brilliant!
I agree!
CCM + Henry Cole = 🤗
Question; can the dinky little LED taillight, and turn signals actually be seen in daylight?
Yes - they are very bright...
5'8 with a 32" inseam? You're all legs mate! If the bikes don't work out then at least you got a career in glamour to fall back on..
Great videos chap, you give more than just a bike review. More a little slice of what's great about riding them, good stuff. Thanks.
...I'd hate to have to go back to my glamour modelling career...
Yeah, cool bike, that number plate looks about as legal as my spliff.
You never mentioned the handbuilt frame, went to the factory which is near where I live because my son wanted the exact model but unfortunately they had all been bought and there was a waiting list for cancellation list, such was the demand. Lovely machine and would be a keeper due to the uniqueness
Err - I did mention and point out the lovely welds and lacquered finish!
What a beauty
I know what you'd be doing rather than riding a British bike on a sunny day! It obviously wasn't a Friday then now was it! Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more! Iain Ian would back me up on this one! Aaaaah Fridays. One of the only days the Flyer cannot be seen on the road! Cheers groover ;-)
Looks and sounds great. So not an alternative to the speed twin more an extra bike for lifestyle? Like a sunny day out for a bacon buttie up malvern hills. Other pleasant England destinations are available.
...indeed, that's what I would use it for anyway...
I composed a saying for you (well it’s adapted from an old saying)... “Patience is a virtue, find it if you can, seldom in a Biker, but never in a Van”.
Crikey nice one Pete!
Thank you for posting. A beautiful bike, great review. Any regrets about not getting the bike? Seems like you did not experience any buffeting while riding it.
No huge regrets as I'd have to have sold my Panigale to fund it, and that too is a beautiful bit of kit...
In Canada CCM is known for hockey equipment. Different company, country and culture.
Would you compare this to the scrambler????
Looks better in the flesh than on this vid.
Very true - and it doesn't look bad here!
On the Husqvarna Topic Andy...Have you ever tried the Husqvarna Nuda model? 🤔
I'm thinking of something with more than my 15bhp in the future & kind of fallen in lust with it, despite there only being 1 for sale on Autotrader here in the UK!!! 😮❤️👍
I have as it happens but not on video....
That is a cute bike! How does Henry get away with the black plate though? I would quite like one on my bike as the yellow doesn't really go with her colour lol.
Henry has only done 300 ish miles on it, I don't guess "plod" have seen it yet !
@@karlosh2422 Hard to see it from a garage.
Good old CCM. Doing what they've always done: weld some bars up into a frame, buy engines from another manufacturer, bolt on a load of off-the-shelf stuff and charge a ridiculous premium for the privilege. Hardly cutting edge is it.
They don’t claim to be cutting edge. Have you ridden one or even seen one in the flesh. For what you get the finish quality, design and exclusivity they’re great value. And made in Bolton!
Have you any idea how much it would cost to develop thier own engine. Is a lovely motorcycle.
I’m new to the motorcycle world. Never ridden a real one actually but I’m looking to buy a cafe racer as my first bike. Would this bike be a good beginner bike?
Not the best choice as they are quite vibey and difficult to live with….might put you off biking! Bit of a specialist bike really….
Beautiful looking thing - like the plate, but the local constabulary won’t!
Just catching up with some interesting videos whilst working from home in these unprecedented times. Love the British CCM Spitfire Flat Tracker. There is currently one on Ebay No. 227 of 250 with 30 miles on the clock. Who's up for it then at £9,995.00?
Stay Safe.
My 1 off Yamaha XSR700 turbo 'Kenny Roberts' replica flat tracker hasn't cost anywhere near that, including one off hand fabricated(35hrs work from a metal genius)bodywork...£4Grand overpriced!
very nice bike except for the front mud guard and headlight unit in my personal view
could it shoot a me-109 out of the sky? if not then its not a spitfire.
I agree, some of the cars and bikes that use that name should be embarrassed.
I hope that in the last year you've learnt to ride on the left or right of the lane so that you aren't directly in the centre, where all the cars drip their oil.
The "weave"" you get on the front end will be the same on all lighter bikes if you're going to use all 4 fingers on the clutch and the brake levers. It's also a really good way to tuck the front in a panic situation.
Thank you for your advice!
Lovely bike, hat off to Henry for letting you borrow it 😎
Indeed - wot a nice bloke eh?
Interesting bike, don't recon too many of your viewers would have had a go or will ever own one. Is that a decompression lever on the left of the bar? Cos it doesnt look like it has a kick start. 🤔
It’s a cold start lever - think it’s more like a choke but I may be wrong....
Some nice touches. Bit odd looking in the exhaust/engine area and the start/stop thing would annoy me all that messing about. Wouldn’t want one but appreciate the effort.
Clews competition machines it stands for tmf. I can remember in the late 70's/80's riding the ccm motocross bikes . Husqvarna motorcycles were better engines so to put them together must be something. Good one.
Indeed - as I put up on the screen in bloody great writing!! 😜
@@TheMissendenFlyer sorry I missed your bloody great writing but I was listening instead of watching at the time.
