Which tip will you try next? What are some other ways you like to save money on travel? Share with us below!
hi Kristin apa kabar? aku rindu kamu ke indonesia.
Like half of them
Are you also playing with video titles and thumbs like Verisatium channel is? I think "Efficient on your travels? Think again!" or "Getting more for less?! Yes! It's possible" would be better than 65 tips.. 65tips sounds tiring to me, it would take so long to go through the whole video..
I'm big on finding restaurants that offer happy hour deals on food and drinks. Or going places at off hours to save. I also find buying things last minute often can end up being a steal on things like accommodations and event tickets. In the US I still use Groupon to save money as well. - Brandi
Madam how to transfer ARS INTO AED DIRHAM
CONVERTING INTO USD
AND TRANSFER INTO AED
IF I DO 100,000 ARS INTO USD, how much usd will get totally ?
And how much aed from usd to Aed after ?
Great tips and resources. Another tip when booking accommodations is to look for hostels or hotels that offer a free breakfast. One tip you mentioned that I sort of disagree with is negotiating everything. When I'm in a local market, for instance, I usually just pay full price, or even gringo prices. The vendors are often quite poor, and I feel cheap and petty trying to save a buck by paying less than they ask for. Of course, you don't want to get ripped off, but if they are asking $4 for something, and you try to get it for $3, it just cheapens the experience a little. On the other hand, if you show kindness and generosity to a local, you might find yourself invited to their home for a dinner or fiesta.
I appreciate your comment Steve, I feel the same way. And as you said it's not about getting "ripped of" but knowing that $4 is a low price for the item on our world/life...
Actually I find that they fully expect to haggle the price in night markets and street markets. It''s part of their culture. If something has a price sticker in a store, that's different. Pay the sticker price. But in night street markets or walking street markets, haggling the price is part of the social experience. They will ask two to three times the price they expect to finally sell the item at. It's fully expected. It's part of the "game". You both come to a price you agree on, and both are still happy. Or you don't agree, and part company. It's all part of those kind of markets.
To top it off, not all travelers have a lot of money to throw around. If you are well monied and don't have to watch your budget...fine. Pay full price for everything and stay in four and five star hotels
But many of us travelers and expats are living on a lot less, or living on pensions and are not loaded with cash. Like me. I always stay in fairy cheap accomodation. Like renting an apartment in Chiang Mai for $160 U.S. a month. Like renting an apartment for $100 U.S. a month in Siem Reap. Eat Khmer food at local mom and pop Cambodian tiny restaurants. A meal for 1.50 U.S. I never use the A/C... fans only to acclimate to the climate and cut my electric bill by a large amount.
Haggle in the street markets..... they expect it. If you don't....then after you paid full price... they probably laugh and brag to their friends that they just sold something for full price to another foolish westerner.
@@robertwilliamson6121 I think all countries are different about haggling. We have been here in Mexico for almost a year now. Haggling here is not part of the culture. What we do find is that the vendors have great memories. They seem to remember us even the second time we go to them. If they have fruit that isn't the best, they won't sell it to us and they always either give us gratis things that they put in our bag or just give us a cheaper price when they realize we are steady customers and not just passing through. We have made great relationships with vendors but not through trying to get everything as cheaply as possible. Of course, that's assuming you will be in the area for a bit.
@@timothytibbits7942 You’re correct. Every country different. I’ve never been to Mexico. But in Southeast Asia, haggling/negotiating, is very much accepted, expected, and socially acceptable in street markets, such as the Night Markets and “Walking Street” markets. Haggling…negotiating price…is part of the culture, and is socially acceptable in specific situations such as purchasing a car, real estate, and flea markets, tourist night markets and once a week “walking street” markets etc.
Haggling/Negotiating is not socially acceptable in commercialized businesses, such as pharmacies, commercialized businesses, restaurants, and western style supermarkets where prices are fixed and stickered and are not negotiable.
I so agree. Seeing farangs knocking down Thai street vendors is cringeworthy - just before they head back to their $150 a night accommodation.
Great tips, but a word of warning about ride sharing apps. Don't use them for anything important. A friend staying in Lisbon saved a lot of money by booking a flight out of Porto (3 hours away) but ended up missing it when her ride share didn't show up.
Oh my! That's terrible. Thanks for sharing Thomas!
Love your channel. Aside from the context, which is a godsend for any digital nomad, your way of delivering the data with no bullshit and direct approach is pretty great. Keep up the good work!!
oh wow! so glad to know you love my channel Ozan 😊🙏Thank you so much for the kind words. Will do! 💛💛
Solid list. I would add do the research before the departure. For instance the best way to travel in Tokyo and Japan is with JR Pass, which one can order for better price before entering Japan. Regarding grocery shopping in Japan, supermarkets discount gourmet food after 5 pm. Everything is freshly made the same day and needs to sell before closing.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this Margaret. I do agree on research before departure. It really helps 😊
Wow, these travel tips are truly amazing! ❤
You are such a great speaker and so knowledgeable! Your parents must be so proud of you :D
THANKS, THANKS and THANKS again😎
Thats for giving full 53 seconds to home, beautiful Costa Rica!
Awesome tips Kristin, God Bless and Pura Vida 🇨🇷 ✌🏽😎
Awesome video.
I once sent myself a post card: when I got it I said to myself, "what a cool guy."
I’ve been known to do this!
This is such a great resource and I would love an in depth video on how to use travel credit cards and get points
You got it! I'll add that to my list. Thanks for watching Malorie!😊
@@TravelingwithKristin no problem, your channel is super helpful and inspiring. Thanks for sharing all your wisdom
So happy to know my channel has inspired and helped you! You are always welcome @Astro Malorie 💛😊
This was wonderful! Lots of great advice! I need to see a good rundown of different loyalty programs so I will know which ones to use. I also would love to see alternative ways of moving items for travel (i.e., services which deliver luggage). I hate carrying things but often need items I can't always buy at the location ... Or things like books for research. 😊
The MOST valuable travel youtube ever! I 'm a traveler myself. Thank so much for the inspirations!
I am glad to know I've inspired you Bliss! Thank you for watching 😊
I would love a separate video on travel cards. I don't currently have ANY credit cards, but there are soooo many out there, it would be nice to have your help narrowing down the options.
For sure will add that to my list of topics. For more request like this Ken you can send them through here: bit.ly/3it3ZEi

Loved it,thanks as always Kristin.
Glad you love it! 😊 You are welcome Eric B
Thank you Kristin!
You’re welcome!
Great tips. When I traveled solo I used to budget more and stay in less expensive places than before. I also did budget tours geared towards younger folks like the GAdventures tours for 18 to 39. Now that I am older and have a husband, we do stay in nicer places and leverage points and miles rewards a lot. Thanks for the shout out to safety wings. I am looking for a good travel insurance for our honeymoon trip next year.
That is one of the advantages of solo travel--you can budget your trip however you choose, and it's great to know that you and your husband have taken advantage of your points & rewards. 😊 I'm glad my shout-out to the safety wing came in handy! Safe travels and thanks for watching Martina!

Chicago to Ecuador in 3 weeks. Thanks for so much helpful advice. Watching your videos helped me believe I could do this!
Congrats Neil!
Thanks for the organized travel tips/hacks. I certainly agree with #1 which I do whenever possible. I learned it a long time ago in NYC and then traveling around SE Asia they expected it and made it fun. Also, the other tip about traveling with people with a lower budget - by coincidence, in a few countries I met and ended up traveling around with people that apparently had a larger budget and wanted to pay for nearly everything when we were out.
Any time Don. Glad you resonated with my content. It is really beneficial to travel with folks who has smaller budget than those who have larger ones. Thanks for watching as well as sharing your experience here. 😊
Congrats on another great video Kirstin!

Hi Kristin, Thanks for another great video with very helpful information.
The travel insurance (Safety Wing) and sim card info will come in really handy on my trip to Panama in January. 👍

whew, Kristin - that was dense. Bravo! I made so many notes. Friends in the USA come to me for travel tips...and then I watch your videos - I have so much more to learn. I really enjoy your videos and always receive some "boots on the ground" wisdom. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful, Mm B! Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching 🙏I appreciate it 😊
Kristin! One of your best videos to date! I especially like the hack of traveling at night to save on hotels. Traveling by train in Europe sounds fun, adventurous and romantic. That one and travel with cheap people. Hahaha.
Thanks Damon; I have saved a lot of money with both of those strategies 😎
@@TravelingwithKristin yeah yeah you're cool

Great tips, Kristin!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching Kist! 😊
wow very helpful & so much info thank you 🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful! You are welcome 😊
Thank you for the tips! I'm a big fan of using reusable water bottles as I can usually just fill them up with tap water (assuming it is safe to drink where I am staying). Anytime I have gone somewhere international I have always done the travel insurance which you can purchase with the flight, but I definitely want to look into Safetywing for the next trip. One great tip you can do too to save money is to take advantage of the street food! Street food can be quite cheap and delicious at the same time! I remember going to Vienna three years ago, and I was able to get quite a bit of food for such a low price!
Thanks Scott! Great tip on the street food. It’s definitely very affordable (and flavorful)
This is fantastic and extremely useful information Kristin. Be Well. One Love.

One thing, I always wondered if I could take a cruise ship to a destination but never tried as my understanding is they do not offer one-way fares but only full cruises that return to their origin points..is it possible to book a one-way ticket on a cruise line?

Another great video, thanks, Kristin :) In some places I usually stay with friends (for instance in Scotland, where I used to live) and family (including Costa Rica this summer marrying a local) for free and they have stayed at my place. Or staying in a cheap accommodation (e.g. sleeping in a hammock in Cambodia for $2 per night). This could also mean a place, which your friends there know and where they can negotiate for you. I also stayed in hostels in California or in a village. Eating Out where the locals eat, sometimes even street vendors...or taking a motorbike ride with a local.
Thanks for sharing your travel tips! Sounds like you've had some amazing experiences! 😊🌍
Thank you so so much. Planning to retire in 3-4 yrs but already thinking about taking some solo trips to get my feet wet, hopefully next year when we have better control of this crazy pandemic. Won't need to penny pinch like some of the younger folks but your tips will still be invaluable, practical and immensely helpful. Saved the video.

Hi Kristin,
Wow! I'm so impressed by all that you've learned from living abroad -- and grateful for all that you've shared. I'm retired and am thinking of traveling or relocating overseas, but I feel overwhelmed by all that you've shared and am not sure just how to start. (I'll have to look at all your videos again.) I heard you say that you often feel like an outsider wherever you go and however long you stay there. So, I'd have to keep connected by enjoying my favorite humor. For instance, I love the late Jeanne Robertson, a humorous speaker. Check out her video on why you should never send a man to the grocery store. :-)
Hi Roger! Glad you enjoyed everything that I've shared, you are always welcome. If you are looking to relocate you might want to check out my relocation website: www.orbisrelocation.com/😊That's good that you stay connected with your fun side, thanks for sharing and I'll check it out!
Great tips! Another tip when purchasing the train ticket is that you can get European train tickets with a 5% discount in one helpful APP!

@@TravelingwithKristin I cannot even imagine the amount of time, time on flights, traveling, and the effort it took from you to test and learn that wealth of information!! And you put it all together, simple, at our fingertips?! That's really, really nice of you, Kristin! 😀

Hi Kristin, super helpful/detailed travel advice. I plan to do a month-long road trip in the US via rental car (I need the flexibility). Should I go with one of the major rental companies, which do offer considerable discounts for 30 day rentals, or are there other cheaper car rental alternatives? Many thanks!
Thanks Brandon! It's my pleasure to share these to you 😊
I’m flying out to Europe again from Los Angeles in late November and I’m going for 10 days. In December I plan on going back to Europe for 3 weeks. Both flights cost $300 round trip each. I guess it’s because it’s not tourist season.
It must be it. Safe travels to you Anthony! 😊
Don’t know if you mentioned this but if thinking about renting a car while traveling in Europe, if you can drive a stick, get a stick shift over an automatic transmission car. From my experience, automatic are more expensive to rent in Europe.
Yes! That’s a great tip. I’m glad I learned as a teenager. Also getting an international drivers license so you can rent in stricter countries

Hi Lucinda! I am so glad you liked my video. I recommends looking into Remote Health by SafetyWing, which is a global health insurance plan that will cover you short or long term in multiple countries.
1:30 / 6:10 this reminds me of something. I have heard that after researching various 3rd party websites'/apps' (eg Hopper) deals/offers /prices etc it is generally better to book a flight directly from the airline's own website if you find a good price on the airline's own website.
"Away Together Nik Allie " said that it is also okay to book from 3rd parties under some circumstances (eg if you are sure that there is a very low chance that you will cancel or reschedule your booking etc).
So my question is that if I book from 3rd parties then will I still get these reward/ points/benefits etc from these airline's reward programs, frequent flier points, etc ?
Awesome video! I have traveled quite a bit in my life, but I still learned valuable tips from the Goddess of travel. Thanks so much for sharing.
Glad to hear it, Steve!
Please give resources on how to use rewards credit cards to purchase airfare. Thank you, great information in your video.
Sure thing! I'll add that to my list. Thanks Sherry. 😊
Another question about the sim cards... I got a skyroam device but not sure how well it will work in Tulum and Akumal so I may need a telcel sim... do I just put it in my regular phone and everything just works like usual or do I bring an old phone spare and put the Sim in that one? 🤔
Hi Ren, I use Skyroam, too but you don't necessarily need a local SIM. Do you have a plan or credits with them? I always bring an unlocked phone for a local sim like Telcel then use Skyroam as a back-up. Have a great trip to Tulum!
@@TravelingwithKristin Thanks!! I'm planning to buy a few skyroam gb and setup my sprint (now tmobile) phone with an upgraded plan for the month that will give me 5gb hotspot data (for my laptop/work) but I think I will run thru that quickly so the telcel on an extra phone is is really great idea - especially if I can hotspot off that telcel data? Good tip tho to find out if my old phone is "unlocked" or not - I may take it in to the sprint store to have them do that for me if I can't find a DIY option on Google. Thanks again - love your videos so much!!
Wow!
A lot of work to do a video like this, thank you Kristin.
Thank you, Brody! So much work haha - I'm running on very little sleep 😵 but I'm glad you liked it!

No, thank you.
I just can't believe you really put this whole thing together.
Great stuff.
I liked 48, 42, 11 and 5.
It's also cool to see you in a lot of the vids. That's my favorite part.
I think you did great on the whole thing.
Really enjoyed watching it.
Ok gotta run, hope sleep find you and your dreams are sweet ;)
Queen! Great info! Isn’t Argentina a good example for a very favorable exchange rate with the USD? Argentina is one of my intended destinations after Panamá.
Yes it is. Hope you enjoy Argentina! I do have a video on Living in Buenos Aires, Argentina: czcams.com/video/xEKTJtnJlyg/video.html 😊
@@TravelingwithKristin I know! I watched it. Hope you’re feeling better!
Hi Kristen. Thank you for your great videos. I am going to be 70 in November. Still traveling. But gone much smaller now with a 21 litre Minaal Daily convertible backpack and a 6 litre cross body Osprey sling bag. Carry on only. But I have a problem. What is the best debit card for me in Canada to use in foreign countries so I can avoid fees every time I use an ATM machine?
Thank you very very much. Have safe flights and happy travels.
Hi Robert, those are both great bags. I own both Minaal and Osprey. You can get a Wise debit card in Canada and use it worldwide to save money on ATM fees. Here’s my link to give it a try! bit.ly/transferwisebank
@@TravelingwithKristin Hello Kristen……I signed up with Wise. But when I went to cards, it says…
“We’re sorry, cards haven’t reached your country yet”
