    Great to see England have overcome their kicking addiction

      All about striking that balance and I thought they did well versus Wales with it.

    Thanks for this analysis. I don't know about anyone else but it's actually really encouraging to see this. I think a lot of England fans are too frustrated by results at the moment to see the bigger picture. If Jones and England can continue to build a really clear attacking strategy, it will pay off. It's inevitable that it will pay off and we will see results improve in time for 2023. I'm excited really - yes, a few new players could do with coming in and a few old names could do with a rest, but otherwise, I'd rather we build attacking clarity over the next few years than same old. A few losses now will be nothing if we win a world cup (a big if, I know).

      I agree with you. Remember when England finished 5th in the 6N and it was all doom and gloom. I think England are going through some tough yet valuable lessons. I think a few players will be slowly blooded in over the next 18 months as the team tries to peak for RWC. Who would you like to see come in?

      @@ContactCoach That's it - in the Six Nations, it is very difficult for one team to dominate so some fluctuation in form is always expected - it's also part of pro sport, ups and downs. That's the fun of it!
      I would love to see a fit Jack Nowell in midfield, Ollie Thorley giving Jonny May someone to compete with, big Joe Coka when he is fit as an impact bench sub, and I think we are actually missing Joe Launchbury and George Kruis in the forwards - then we could play Itoje on flank with Curry and Underhill (Curry as 8 again?). Max Malins given more time at fullback would be nice too. There are so many options! I am sure Eddie knows this and has a plan for expanding in the next few years. I have faith, even if others don't!

    Great breakdown Craig. Nice to see the comparison from game 2 to game 3. I agree they are moving in the right direction. It seems the english faithful are less critical of the team after this loss because of the style of rugby evolving in a more positive way,. Bit similar to Ireland coincidentally

    Despite the score line and referee controversy, at least they played some rugby last weekend. I think they have been too scared to lose and have played some predictable and conservative rugby. At least now they can get it out of their system and move on.

    • @ContactCoach

      Hi Dave. I agree and I hope they keep giving it a go in the final two rounds. I do feel they need a big ball carrier in midfield to have more punch when needed. What your thoughts on selection?

      @@ContactCoach They absolutely need a big ball carrier in midfield. They’ve been at a huge loss without Tuilagi. People seem to forget how we have struggled in the past without key players. Eg, talent in the back row, on form Vunipolas, beef in the back line. I’m a big fan of Eddie but he needs to go back to being a cheeky Aussie. He’s become too English!

    The large gap that Slade could have exploited if stood deeper. Do you believe that other fly halves would have thrown the loop ball without a shadow of a doubt of course like Russel, and that its just fords more reserved playstyle not to throw that looping ball???

    • @ContactCoach
      @ContactCoach  Před 3 lety +1

      Good question. To be fair to Ford he is one of the best passers in the game. He is a very good attacking fly half. Perhaps, in hindsight, the ball over the top was an option as they were under advantage but it's so tough to say for sure as we are not in that moment. Great question, though!

    • @joelblanchfield6276
      @joelblanchfield6276 Před 2 lety

      @@dandoe2461 Quick ruck ball has less to do with the 9 and more to do with efficiency at the breakdown. I find Ben Youngs' pass to be quite slow, as in his speed of delivery, and he often picks up the ball and steps with it (often not in a threatening way - although he is a capable running 9) before passing, again slowing down his speed of delivery compared to other 9s who are faster off the floor and into the hands of the next ball carrier.

    A lot less kicking than in previous weeks, but it only made me notice how damn awful England's kicks were, can't stop thinking of Ford changing options mid play to kick in the corner and gift possession back to Adams.

      Hi mate. I think every team is reliant on quick ball and if they do not have it a robust kicking game will be used to overcome slow ball. You don't see too many teams at international level forcing slow ball. What teams do you like to watch?
