The Nissan Terra continues to use the same D23 chassis as its truck sister. With five links overall and a stabilizer bar, the multi-link suspension system keeps the same smooth ride as its prior version. The Terra's independent double-wishbone front suspension system uses coil springs. On the other hand, the VL models' front and rear disc brakes provide stopping power. The front disc and rear drum braking system of the VE and EL variants is still in place.
The Nissan SUV is powered by a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine (YD25). It still generates 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, and it can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission.
The Terra is a strong contender for driving dynamics among midsize SUVs thanks to its completely independent suspension throughout, powerful diesel engine, and plenty of road input from the wheel. If necessary, the car can easily travel off-road thanks to its 4x4 system. In order to have better sensation, heavy steering comes with an expectation of body roll. The Terra performed well when it came to hard acceleration and braking, and the smoother speedup was made possible by the less noticeable power spike that most diesel engines possess.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available on the Nissan Terra through its 9-inch infotainment system for VL models and 8-inch infotainment system for VE and EL variants. Remarkably, the VL versions may also be equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay. For the SUV's highest-end VL 4x4 AT version, a BOSE premium 8-speaker sound system is also offered. For the remaining portion of the vehicle, a 6-speaker sound system with two tweeters is used. The VL models of the SUV include an 11-inch flip-down monitor with an HDMI connector, but the middle row still has its passenger comforts.
The new Nissan Terra features a revised exterior that’s complemented by a more prominent fascia. To begin with, it receives a new V-Motion grille, quad-LED headlights, and a redesigned front bumper that, on higher trim levels, also contains LED fog lamps. Looking over the side, the Terra retains its recognizable design, but there are a few minor updates to note, such as the new alloy wheel choices that come in a combination of 17- and 18-inch wheels, and the false air intake located on the front quarter panel.
Color options include Nebula Metallic Red, Forged Metallic Copper, Lunar Metallic Gray, Galaxy Black, Brilliant Silver, and Aspen Pearl White.
The upgraded Nissan Intelligent Mobility system from the brand is also included in the Terra. For all SUV models including the EL model, this gives it access to an around-view monitor, frontal collision warning, intelligent emergency braking, lane departure warning, driver awareness, blind spotting warning, hill start, and hill descent control. The Nissan Terra also has a tire pressure monitoring system, although only on the VL versions.
The SUV is still equipped with a total of six airbags: two for the driver and front passenger up front, two more for the side airbags, and a final pair for the curtain shield airbags on either side of the car. The vehicle is still equipped with standard 3-point seatbelts for all occupants and an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).
