    Thanks for the story, man.
    I get a fair different vibe from the most Hopper's paintings and this one particularly. I don't see much loneliness but self sufficiency and calm. Everything is clean and accessible, the street is silent and crowdless. People in the diner are deep in their thoughts, they feel safe and warm. They may have to deal with some problems in general, but at the moment they've got all they need - a cup of coffee and a quite place.
    It makes even more sense as you say it was painted right before the Pearl harbor - the calm before the storm. It is melancholic for sure but in the most pleasant way.

      @storiesbehindart yes it caught my attention while I was watching the video. I never thought that the US have shows ,that show in public naked dancing women . Why the nakedness ...
      And is there another painting that carries the same title, I wonder ??
