- Less than ideal weather and some upcoming major changes in our lives led me to cut my road trip short and head back home, in the Midwest. However, the gods of photography had a very different idea in mind for me. A series of circumstances led me to Moab, Utah, where I found the best conditions (and images) of the whole trip so far.

Adrian, you never gave up! No matter how tired you were or how unconducive the weather conditions were to begin with, you never gave up - and that's why you captured those amazing images. It's not luck. It's perseverance 🌟
Thank you so much, Heather! I was indeed very tired, I was hoping to drive there and take a nap right away... but thankfully, the fog ruined my plans. I did take a long nap afterwards, though...
@@aows - You are such an inspiration, Adrian - a real artist. Thank you so much for taking us all along with you on your journeys. Thank you 😊
Getting caught in the rain, or enduring bad weather reminds me of the saying, "An artist must suffer for his art." Thanks for sharing your adventures.
That was about emocional pain bro..
Haha, that's probably accurate. Getting wet, especially when you are sleeping in a car / tent, is never nice. But it's (almost always) worth it! Thanks for watching :)
It was physical pain, emotional joy :)
Putting this trip story and presentation together is awesome and can be considered one of the great travel stories.
Thank you so much, glad you liked it!
Hi Adrian, i really liked the Balanced Rock, you don't see many beautiful Rocks like that. Enjoyed those moving clouds and Mist, and the Trees and the Arches blended in nicely with the Rocks. Great Road trip and nice inages, many thanks 😊
Thank you! No, you do not see many rocks like the ones in Arches, that's for sure :)
I confess that such conditions probably would have caused me to put the camera away and wait for better light to capture those amazing formations. Thanks for posting this inspiration to keep looking and shooting regardless.
Fantastic travelogue with really special images. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching, Edward! Glad you liked it.
I’ve been to Moab several times. It is a magical place. I would’ve given a kidney to be there with you during those conditions. Those are some amazing photos. I will pre-order your next book right now if those are going to be in it.
Nooo, keep your kidney! :D But yes, the conditions were incredible. I'm not sure how often you can get fog there, but it was a first for me after multiple times in the park. So I loved it. Those images will not be in the next book, as I already have enough material... but in the next one :D
Your latest video is simply brilliant! Your mastery in producing both videos and photographs is truly inspiring. The way you craft your videos into complete stories, with a clear beginning, middle, and end, is remarkable. Despite the effort behind the scenes, you make it all appear effortless. Just know that for those of us eagerly awaiting your next creation, your dedication is deeply appreciated. Never lose sight of your talent and passion.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. And I hope my passion never goes away, otherwise getting out there in bad conditions would be very, very hard to do :D
Welcome back to Utah . 🙌🏽
Thanks! Always great to be there.
You inspire me to get out there every time I watch your videos. Keep it up. Love them.
I'm very glad to hear that. Go out and take photos! Thanks for watching.
At 5:17 if not for the yellow jacket you would have disappeared into the landscape. That almost looks like your family waiting in the background. Such a clever eye you have😊
Haha, it's a cool landscape no doubt. Very challenging for black and white photography, but very beautiful.
perfect. thank you for making these.
Thank you for watching!
I really must get out west again. Wonderful video, and beautiful photos.
It's really beautiful out there. Thank you!
Awesome photography !
Thank you!
Oh wow - Arches in the fog! What a treat, and an amazing surprise for you!
It really was! That, I was not expecting. I knew the weather was a bit rainy, and I always hope to get some atmosphere... but that exceeded my expectations.
Amazing images and vid. Congrats! It is gorgeous.
Thank you so much! It's such a beautiful place.
Amazing
Thanks!
Too many photography essays fail to incorporate cinematography to their video portions. Your interstitials are as well shot and composed as your photography. Inspiring!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
Love this!
Thank you!
Just a brilliant video
Thank you so much!
Another fantastic video. Congratulations on all the dedication 👌
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it.
Arches is breathtaking anyway you look at it ! dont miss canyonland nearby .....
Indeed! Visited Canyonlands a few years ago, I didn't have time this time around, but I'll be back there soon for sure :)
Another brilliant video 😊
Thank you so much!
Loved the 'yotes at the end.
I could understand if the experiences of this trip led you to title your next book "Chasing Fog."
I do love some good old fog :D
Beautiful scenery and images. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Unbelievable luck! You must have been so thrilled in the moment. It was thrilling just watching!
Thanks for this inspiring content mate :)
I really was! That was magical. I was not expecting that.
Your photos are incredible and inspiring. I truly love the black & white images. Some super-soaker moments in Moab, though.
As for the I-84 closure and holdover in Baker City, why didn't you drop south on OR-7 and then east on US 26 to rejoin I-84 in Ontario? At least you could pass through Sumpter and check out the big dredge.
Good video and thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, glad you liked it! Yes, that route was an option, I actually took OR-7 for a while but decided against it. It added quite a bit of time to my day. I didn't know that road very well, it looks like it goes through some mountains, and it was snowing. And finally, a lot of semi-trucks were taking that route to avoid the closure as well. I was just afraid of getting stuck somewhere remote with temperatures in the low 20s, so I called it a day and got some rest in a hotel after a few weeks sleeping in the car :)
Atmospheric and inspiring. Thank you.
Thank you, Geoff!
Why not carry a small light umbrella next time. I see many other experienced landscape photographers do it. It can also protect you, your lense and camera in a downpour. or you can still take a picture in the rain with a well made light and sturdy umbrella. I see Joe Cornish use one. The famous british landscape photographer.
Yes, of course, an umbrella could very useful. I usually just wear a raincoat, and that does the job just fine. This time, I didn't even have my raincoat on because it was not supposed to rain at all. It wasn't in the forecast, and even though it looked dark, I thought I was safe. I wasn't too far from the car either, so I went for it. Big mistake haha.
Just WOW!
Thanks!
I didn’t know Fonzi had an accent.😊
Would ear buds help regarding dulling the noise down
I'm sure, I just can't handle them while sleeping 😅
I think it's a terrible shame to convert all those beautiful photos to BW at any cost, so I would give up the beautiful places in the BW style and try to intersperse them with a slightly colored photo
Well, I'm a black and white photographer, that's the way I "see". There are plenty of color photographs of Arches, so why not a few monochrome ones?
@@aows I understand that, I'm a photographer too, I follow you and I think that only BW is just a shame, nothing more
Great video. Amazing photos. I do photo trips in a awd Sienna minivan with my own bed in the back. No tents or hotels necessary.
Thanks! Yeah, I sleep in my car too, but since I was setting up the tent for the campground anyway... I thought I could give it a try. That was a mistake.
