  • Hi. This is a project I made over the weekend. I got a discarded LPG tank came from a car that is converted to run on LGP or propane fuel. I reuse the tank as an air tank or air compressor receiver. This involves welding on the tank that used to hold a flammable gas. In the video, I show you how to prepare the tank to safely weld on it.

I will use that to make an auxiliary air tank. Thanks

You can probably make use of original fittings so that no welding is required.

@@DIYPhil i will need just 1 weld for a flange but the metal on this spot is very thick so will be very easy

G’Day Phil, mate thank you for the brilliant idea plus great video 👌🫡 thank you for sharing useful information 👍😉,,
Mate I have a question for you 😊
Can I use my 50L air compressor directly to use for MIG welding or I need a external tank to refill into it then to use it for MIG welding ?
Thank u again for wonderful video 👍🫡 cheers Matt

Hi. MIG welding uses inert gas usually argon or argon with carbon dioxide mix. MIG = metal inert gas. It will definitely not work with compressed air. You need to buy the gas from your welding supply store.

Hi. You can check on the data plate the working pressure. I do think that it will work as long as the pressure rating is greater than or equal to your compressed air.

May i ask where did you buy your tank?

    • @DIYPhil

I bought from the garage that do the car lpg conversion. These tanks have expiration dates so they always have those replaced and to be scrapped.

Have you thought about using a vehicle ac condenser as an after cooler? It drops air temperature before it goes into the tank. Keeps moisture out of the tank and you lines.

I'm maybe doing a similar project in the future. I'm just looking around for parts i can salvage for free. Also thinking about using a coil of copper tubing for that purpose.

@@DIYPhil I used that before it goes into the cooler. As a pre cooler.

Tama sir. Gagamitin ko uan sa powder coating, hndi nmn malakas konsumo sa hangin, kya hindi din nmn madalas tatakbo ang motor.
