Happened on this video today and am feeling nostalgic for my one year at Goole Grammar School 1970-1971. Love the accent and the attitude of these people. A good time in my life. I remember visiting a ship from Rostock (East Germany in those days) and also a ship from the Soviet Union. Sleepy hollow, OK, but for me, having grown up on the Isle of Wight, it was very special.
What a one sided option of my town I was 19 at the time there is so many pretty girls. We used to sit on the wall outside the new bridge pub and go to the youth club at the school down cottingham street.
I remember Goole/Old Goole like this. These faces are familiar to me. Old Ivy Duff... Mabel Max.... Stan and Maud.... If it was only like that now x When the Shipyard was in full swing on Swinefleet Road... x Good days
Do you remember the ship yard buzzer at 4.30 all the bicycles down bridge street and burtons leaving, the girls four abreast, going down boothferry road, my wife was one of them.
Used to see those lasses walking round Old Goole all the time when I was a kid - Hazel & was it Shaz or Shazza? All the mothers got together in Old Goole and walked to school with us as a protest against how dangerous Bridge St was getting and to get us school buses :-)
@@garibaldi9528 my friend from old goole was crushed on one of the bridges over the docks, he his OK now but was very badly injured, I don't think it would be right to say his name. Happy times, great people, my best memories, I don't think we had a pound between us, but money was not on our minds.
I remember Tippy Gill from 1959. He used to help the Police if there was any fights in the pub across the road from the Clock Tower, also Walter Hattersley was handy in a scrap.

The young men that get interviewed about being dockers the one on the right is kev Braithwaite
Nice one. hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
Just found out that he died last year of cancer.
1st Street at 1.00 looks like they are on Manual Street.
He sounds like Jonathan Pie lol
I think Steve Coogan used bits of Ray occasionally and Alan Partridge Scissored Isle 2016 seemed to use Goslings Travels format.
