The Squadron Supreme was Marvel's version of the JLA. Hyperion represented Superman and Dr. Spectrum's powers were similar to Green Lantern.
A long time ago I read the Squadron Supreme 12 issue limited series and always wanted figs from the comics. Finally Decades later they are available to buy.
Both characters represent their first appearance in Avengers #69 (1969), which is why Hyperion has his super-cool domino mask.
That's a misconception. Look at the boots. Not cuffs. It's actually from the new squadron supreme of America team that Carlson created
I got mine yesterday from djc collectibles. Hyperion is an upgrade from the previous release. Dr. Spectrum is a fair representation of the character. Hyperion is the main reason I got this set.
The evil versions of these characters belong to the Squadron SINISTER where Hyperion did wear a mask. The Defenders' Nighthawk was a former member as its Batman counterpart while Speed Demon when he was the Whizzer was the Flash's!
They did battle Doctor Strange, the Hulk and the rest in DEFENDERS #13-14.

I got the Hyperion from the hit monkey wave but i like this version a little better so got this set on pre-order to go along with Speed Demon and Night hawk
I can't wait to pick up Hyperion and Dr. Spectrum. I've been waiting for years to add them to my loose collection. I've also been waiting to add them to my MOC collection. Hyperion is a straight ripoff. His outfit looks more like Shazam. And his powers and weaknesses are Superman minus kryptonite. Hyperion's home planet even exploded.
Hyperion was originally intended as satiric homage, not an actual cynical ripoff.
@@AlanDavidDoane an homage to someone else's creation is still a ripoff. I still love Hyperion. Just like all the other ripoffs Marvel has done from DC comics. Of course it isn't one sided. DC comics has also ripped off Marvel comics characters.
Just a heads up the earlier Hyperion figure you showed was the 4 inch scale Marvel Universe figure and not the 2013 Legends Hyperion.

How does the Hyperions skin match up with the 80th Thor? I’m think of using those gripping hands with Thor if the colors match close enough.

Underwhelming is a better word than disappointed, I think. The lack of what seem like obvious accessories, especially in these expensive two packs, while becoming expected, just makes for a lackluster showing overall.
Where's the fuck damn heat vision for hyperion on an alternate head? You can barely find superman figures with heat vision either if at all. It's about power accessories too not just fucking alternate hands, glad hyperion does actually have two fists though that is also rare for figures to have two fists these days smh
Not sure why, but that Hyperion just looks cheesy to me. Better than the promo shots, but still something that looks like a modern action figure based on a 1960s character depiction or something.
That's exactly what it is. This was his look in his first appearance in Avengers #69 from 1969.
The Squadron is the knockoff of the Justice League. They are Avengers villains/Allies.
Hyperion = Superman
Dr Spectrum =Green Lantern
Nighthawk= Batman
Speed Demon/Whizzer = Flash
Power Princess= Wonder Woman
I had to pass on these. I like Squadron Supreme but don’t love them. Lack of new tooling tins me away too.
I'm just getting hyperion as an Avengers villain, selling Dr. Spectrum. Hyperion smoked the avengers first meeting before marvel nerfed hyperion when his squadron supreme buddies showed up
If not a blurb on the box, it would be nice if there was a dedicated website run by marvel legends to give you a brief rundown of each figure. Maybe put a QR code on the box or something.
As soon as Hasbro starts giving a shit about anything at all, that's a great idea.
Kyle, have you ever said why you collect action figures but not statues? Not the large statues that cost a fortune.
Just never interested me been figures since I was a kid. I can enjoy a statue and have a few in my collection
