Great interview! The line that really stuck out for me was when a service-oriented individual finds themself in a situation in which they are unclear on how to serve, they unravel because worth is often tied to service. I can relate.

TL;DR - Go for what's within reach and share what you're learning as you go, be open and honest, take constructive criticism, practice, repeat.
Hi Guys, I just stumbled across this video, i relate to the conversation... I'm on my journey and socially out of my element.
As someone who's pretty self-aware/self-conscious of being wrong and sounding dumb, i do this, I'm second guessing my comments constantly, even here on youtube. I'll write a whole damn book of a comment, edit it, chop half, rewrite it... and in the end some times i just click away. It's a great exercise if nothing else, i gather my thoughts and boil em down to the essence, even if i don't post it... it's good for me. i know I'm crazy, not everyone has that time.
(lmao at the Community reference... *super cheerful* "HI Abed! it's your best friend TROY speaking...!")
Some thoughts aren't ready to hatch yet, it's cool. Even Winger admits it's harder than it looks to be nonchalant on command.
We gotta work around it, we got things to do.
My advice to myself if I'm feeling imposture syndrome - Observe, asking for help from smart people is smart. Smart people know that they're smart, if I ask them real honest questions, they'll already see me as smart too, just for asking for the advice from a smart person.
Another thing to take into perspective (like the jogging group analogy) whatever we did in the past is what got us to 'here'. Maybe asking "how did we get here" or "what steps got you here" would direct energy better than "why am i here". Focusing the question on others in the group, rather than ourselves, in an attempt to get to know the group dynamic and individuals and compare the circumstances that are similar in our stories to hopefully learn the general drive and factors it takes to be where we are and possibly go further, would aid in an attempt to focus and build those skills in ourselves and others. By asking good questions you become useful in that you allow someone to teach, a skill worth practicing. I also appreciate the idea where you learn from someone 1 step ahead of you. Someone who just learned, they just came from where youre coming from, they understand the transition as its fresh in their memory. Teaching what you just learned to someone whos ready is also one of the BEST ways to solidify the lessons in your own head as you try and apply it for the new student.
Another'nother way to say that is - the answer to "why?" youre here could be as simple as recalling your steps. you'll (more than likely) find that you were on your journey and seeking answers/direction in an open hearted way and someone with an answer was able to see that to extend the invitation for growth. now that you're in a new place with so much to learn, you feel unsure of your fit which leads to the fear of exile... there's no need to fear if you're attempting bettering yourself, even if you don't know anything at all you can still start bettering yourself by identifying where you are struggling, asking how to get to the next step and practicing. wealth is the highest level of taking your health, relationships and mental habits into awareness and executing best practices for the sake of balance, harmony and betterment. That's what the group wants out of you, they want you to work on bettering yourself. If you're in a group that doesn't want that, leave.
so, Go for what's within reach and share what you're learning as you go, be open and honest, take constructive criticism, practice, repeat.
    Best wishes to you, friends,
    6 seasons and a movie!
