This goes beyond "blocking" it's a very advantageous set up ror Blanka, and even if you lab it for hours like many people here on YT and Twitter said, it's still very beneficial for Blanka offense wise.
Mena just wants to keep Blanka as it is and the "go to lab" excuse isn't going to solve the set up completely for those who play against him.

This video only covers the specific setup people are talking about on Twitter, there are a lot other setups he can do other than OD air ball, that include lows overheads throws command grab hop, etc I think it's funny that the solution people are giving to blanka level 2 is give blanka free damage, and even if you take the throw level 2 is still active, and to add to it you can't super or drive reveal the ball loop block string
So do you have a worthwhile response to how he should be changed? Or is it just take it away? Anything that's not drive Rush after a little forward should it be removed from the game?
@@rooksdoubleohseven9919 just make more defensive options work against it, for non dp characters level 1 completely whiffs during the ball block string and drive reversal does not work, that any maybe reduce the time level 2 is active

I made some notations if anyone wants to try:
DR 5HK, 5HP, 214214P (SA2),

Immediate j.[7] 6.PP (OD air rolling attack), 2PP-P, 4.KKK (hop back), 22.LP (place doll), 63214.KK OD backstep rolling attack,
236236.P (SA 1), DR 6.HP/OD [2]8KK
Broke it down in the parts I practiced, you need to make sure to delay the second [2]8LK (light up ball) so that Blanka does not go in the opposite direction, wait for the opponent to fall enough to the correct side or wait until Blanka is facing the right direction on the ground.
Also set the dummy to wake up 4 frame/throw to test it works.
Now, you know that beat was too damn funky, shame on you.
i was a blanka player in sfv and didnt buy sf6 yet. people used to hate the character before he had air ball and doll set up, i can only imagine the hate blanka gets now.
He's cool now so not that much and one of the most popular SF players uses him. Add to that that not many other people use him and he kinda dodges a lot of potential criticism

Nothing more hilarious than leaving the game on while you're in training mode trying to learn this... And coming back a half hour later and realizing Blanka has been doing that Goofy idle sound the entire time.

Yes.
I fought some Blanka players who setup the doll but after that they did overhead, throw loop, or waited for me to hold parry so they can get punish counter from throw. So, i don't think there's a definitive answer for this mixed up because it's a 50-50. Either you guess right and get out from the corner or you guess wrong and die from the doll x roll combo.
I've DI'd the level 2 air balls and it phases through.
I think the best way to deal with Blanka is to buff him, so that this game become Blanka fighter 6. Good luck spending season 2 in the loop of getting arse handed to Blanka, or join the Blanka gang. Choose one 😂

There is no reason to cry, there never will be, it's not about the character, but about who controls it, can you nerf that???
@@BoxNinPlay It LITERALLY is the character, setplays with Blanka like you are watching is LITERALLY all ABOUT the character and NOT the player, the entire POINT of setplay is that it's a consistent setup. It's not about the character when it's with NON setplay characters, but other than that, when you see this stuff, it's literally all about the character.
Instant air ex ball,
1.Coward crouch launcher 2. dash back blanka-chan, unsure if it matters. Which version.
3. ex. Rainbow ball,
4. sa1,
5. drive Rush Forward heavy punch.
Pretty sure that is the beginning of the video for the most damaging version. Anyone else wants to help please do. I'm not going to start with jump back. Ex airball, because that's evident.
Version 2
1. Light rainbow ball? No idea if there is direction being held. I would have to say and up forward sa2 continuation?
2. Medium Rainbow Ball? Unsure of direction is being held.
3. Ex. Rainbow Ball. Forward sa2 follow-up
4. Ex Up ball.

My only problem with the whole conversation around things like this is. A vast majority of players are going to gravitate towards Ken, Luke and or JP. To act like to win, with Ken or Luke, takes anywhere near the amount of time to recognize diverse situations is equivalent to someone like Blanka, is an out right Lie.
Not going to say Blanca might not need some toning down. But I don't believe the hate coming from the Lily's, Zangeifs, Kim's, etc...
It's a bunch of salty Kens mains.
People always complain about Street fighter 5. Mad vanilla, everyone does the same thing. But the moment characters win through other means they want to nerf them to the ground.

@rageofsweets Dhalsim is still paying for his setplay sins from SFV, he was top 5 for literally the entire lifespan in that game

you gotta 50 50 chance at eating the whole combo with any option you select.
so you may as well bring out the wake up ultra damage card.
This is gonna work in SF6 too, wake up SA1 will get you out of this situation.

Not going to lie, overall I am attracted to polarizing characters. Started with JP, felt like I was getting wins too easily and wasn't learning the game. Switched Manon, felt like I learned more, but also took the polar opposite character. Dug deep into Marissa, had hella fun. Now I'm playing Blanka, and enjoying the multitude of opportunities to maximize in any given situation. Highest character was diamond 5. Not going to act like what I say is based upon high-level gameplay, but I also feel like most m************ are complaining from the same spectrum.
Edit: or from a lower, and if I'm willing to admit, I don't do my homework, I know all them cats who ain't risk master either probably didn't do theirs. There's solutions to most of this s***.
I dunno, I'd be hype to get hit by this in a real game, something different than drive rush low forward

You know, that's a lot of characters to consider "broken". Most games of this size are lucky to have 3 broken characters, yet SF6 has 6 by your account... So maybe the game is better balanced than you think, if such a large part of the roster is that close to one another.

I mean, he got an assist that perpetuates in the fight for seconds, can side-switch and has an install. He is closer to a Marvel character then a sf character smh, nice balancing sf6 devs

And also, If you want to play defense, he has a safe move that travels around the screen and takes 1 drive bar on Block. But hey, it's all fine

Just take the throw, this is why Kakeru got thrown to death. This is a huge problem about Blanka, this character has insane damage and utility. SA2 does mad damage, can be use to extend pressure, corner carry, burn drive meter and mixup. And something people don't talk about enough is that Blanka-chan has no damage scaling, which is why it does so much damage. It extend combos on hit and create mixup and pressure opportunities on block.
I really hope they nerf or balance Blanka better in season 2. His SA2 needs to have 1 less total activation(consumes more lvl2 super gauge) but maybe increase the duration. And add some scaling for every Blanka-chan hit, even a 5-10% would be nice.
Blanka-chan DOES have damage scaling, but it only the first time it hits, and it doesn't impact the juggle scaling at all. I would agree that the OD version should scale more if you hit them with other moves in between; if it's juggling into itself it's fine, and the meterless and level 1 versions don't allow the same kind of degeneracy.

My only hope is Capcom realizes that after they implement everything the crybabies want, they then all complain about how boring and repetitive the game is. You’d have ruined 3rd strike back then too if you could’ve. Chun Li and Yun were waaaaayyyyyy more broken and that game is still great. No crybaby “hUgE pRoBleMs” and “tHeY nEeD tO nErF eVeRyOnE but mY cHaRActEr”.

Shitty game
Oh man, this crying is so tiring. Just because one player is beating the tournaments... Some questions come to my mind... Why, if Blanka is broken, it's only Mena who is winning tournaments with him and not other Blanka players?? Why there's not an army of Blanka players like Juri's at tournament's top placing??
Because the player base of Blanka is low, its an ugly and unpopular character. Popular character like Ken has the highest amount of player base, so people mistakenly think he is the best character when in fact despite the highest player base even in tournament his qualifying to player base ratio is actually quite low, compared to characters like Luke, Juri, Chun Li, Guile and Blanka, which has qualifying rate disproportionately higher than its player base.
This is why over time, pros drop Ken's ranking on the tier list and raise those like Chun Li and Blanka alot more. Also, Blanka is objectively broken in some ways, things like SA 2 giving so much utility like high damage, pressure extension upon activation, corner carry, mixups and huge drive meter burn. And Blanka-chan also not having damage scaling which results in his massive combo damage.
I'm not saying the character is broken as a whole, but he definitely needs some balance changes. I personally think they should nerf his lvl2 a little, perhaps 2 less total ball activation but increase its duration so he can remain threatening for longer but not do as much damage, corner carry or reset. They should also add a little damage scaling for every Blanka-chan hits, a 5-10% would be good.

If we can agree that there are more than 10 broken-Blanka players in the World... Why, there are not 2 or 3 more Blanka players getting to the top 6 top 8, finals, in many tournaments?
What I think is happening, is that MenaRD got all of them mentally, he has an unorthodox way of playing the character and that is also why he played Birdie, cuz he is also unorthodox.
What I think the players should do is to study MenaRD's game better and try to figure him out.
They should also shot their mouth and stop the crying, cuz what they want is not to nerf Blanka, they, they want to nerf MenaRD, he is the only Blanka player giving them problems.
@@skychaos87 Also, if you are a pro player, you should not be selecting characters based on their beauty, that's for casuals, if you are a pro, select the character that gives you the best possibilities of winning.
Let's see the tournaments with 4 Blanka in the to 8, the way it happens with Juri.
@@yuniordls There are pros that play characters they like not that they are good, iDom a many times SF champion choose to play Manon. And then there are top pro players playing AKI and Lily. Because apart from liking the character design, there's also liking the play style. And if we talk about Guile, there's only really two player that is successful with him, KnuckleDu and Caba but everyone knows Guile is a top tier character. Most people just don't like playing charge characters, especially one like Blanka that has no projectile.
Like I said, there needs to be balance not just nerds. If we were to nerf the obnoxious lvl2 like we do with other characters' lvl2, we can also buff Blanka in other areas.
I'd be all over Blanka on this one if Capcom didn't make his character model look like a comedic prize Ape in his stupid dungarees and throwing a kids doll. He was much more the business in SFV of all games.
Think they screwed him up, personally. I'd like to see him redesigned to be a bit more monster-like as in the case of the previous games. They need to find a way to replace the mechanics of that doll with something else that has a similar effect.
At the same time, I get it, in cannon Blanka is supposed to be a friendly beast.
His default in 5 was probably the coolest he's ever looked
Yeah he looks like a happy gorilla in this rather than a mad beast like he used to look like.
They have done a 180 on the character and turned him into a loveable simpleton rather than a crazed maniacal beast.
