  • In an effort to keep my ol' 2006 avalanche looking ok, I took my (2002 - read: even more faded)) avalanche tonneau covers and painted them with a roller and rustoleum.
I will post a followup shortly where I paint the sails and bed box covers as well.

Nice job. I was planning on using bed liner spray but I'm really liking the smooth look it gave to yours so I may be changing my plans to this method. I really like it. Thank you for the video.

Thanks for watching! It was a pretty simple and cheap process for an old truck. And I think it would be more durable than store bought bedliner.

This actually came out nice I'm in the process of repainting my sail panels and all the rest of my plastics like on the Cadillacs truck sat up 5 years so the paint chipped and fadded do to weather I might give this a shot while I'm at it 🔥🔥🔥

Thanks for posting, a good enough job to fix the fading and the color worked out good to. I think I'll do my covers the same but spray the cladding.

It looked great on the sails. But I never got around to posting that video. My plan was to spray the cladding as well. But rolling it was still possible just because I’m lazy when it comes to prep work. And rolling is dead simple.

I’ll see what I can dig up. I lost some of my original footage. I also wasn’t expecting this many views. Lol. I do have some before and after, I’ll put something together. I rolled the sails the exact same way as this video. It was a bit trickier to avoid the marks but it came out great (for a 14 year old truck). Everything matched color wise.

@@utjay2008 I recently bought an 04 Avalanche that is darn near showroom condition except for the plastics on it. So I'm trying to see my options. Yours looks great!

      I appreciate the kind words!
The original plan was to do the whole cladding, sails, bed etc. Literally the day I cleaned the cladding to paint, I noticed my frame starting to rust in half. I was done messing with it. Dumped it. I still miss that truck.

I got rid of the truck when the frame was getting questionable. Sorry. It was holding up really well until then.

    Is it holding up?

It’s only been a couple of months, but so far so good! I did the sails and the rest of the “bed” trim. I was admiring it just the other day. Looks so much better still than the faded factory stuff. I’m glad I used the flat black. It looks gray outside. Weird.
      Thanks for watching!
