    It's taken some time to get to a place where the battery revolution can offer a grinder that really is a decent replacement for the classic 3 pin plug. Dewalt have finally come up with a tool that is elegant in design and offers the power efficiency to last on cells. The DCG405N might not be the best out there hands down but, given that most of us probably own one to two of their 18V gadgets, its well worth considering adding it to the kit. Lets test it out!

    I’m not surprised that your other angle grinder broke, you’re slapdash and throw your new angle grinder around. And when you’re doing a video, turn it off so we can hear you.

    Bought the 405FN…Flathead £145 body only, no case (Dec21). The Dewalt ‘suitcase’ from my old corded version will take the 405FN plus one 5ah batt and a few discs saving the purchase of a new TStak case. I have yet to use the Flathead in earnest, but my early impression concurs with the video…low noise and vibe are a bonus. 114 seems to be the goto grinder size for most, but honestly the extra diameter of a 125 is a game changer since the useable disc radius beyond the grinder body on a 114 disc is only about 38mm..the 125 ups that to 44mm or an extra 15% cutting depth….can make all the difference on many jobs, not to mention more “meat” on the disc to boot (You pay for it in more disc cost ‘natch!).

    Hi,
    I really wish DeWalt can release this exact model in the USA. We only have the paddle style on our cordless models for some weird safety issue. Yet, we still have the corded style that have the switch on the side. Come on DeWalt even Makita has the switch on the top on their cordless model in the USA.
    Thanks for the video

      Paddle swith without lock button always.I hate those alide lock switches.If something happens, paddle is far better choise.

    I paid £125 for mine just the shell though no battery or charger as I already have a charger and 2 batts with my jigsaw so just use them for it, my only problem is I can't get the t-stack case that this fits into as you can only get a t-stack empty case and buy foam separately and cut the foam to shape like I did for my jigsaw.

    So do you still recommend it? I recently got into the dewalt battery tool line up with the 996 and next up is a grinder and a jigsaw.

      Yes I would still recommend their hand tools for sure. Have had problems with the mower and strimmer.

      The F has a flat head which is better at getting into tighter spaces.

    Hi
    Can i ask what the battery life is on the job

    • @danreviewsitall
      @danreviewsitall  Před 3 lety +1

      With a 5ah you are lucky to get 15mins with load. With a 9ah flex volt you get a good 25 to 30 mins.

      Yep. 10-15 mins will cut through plenty of bar stock and sheet steel, but is probably too short for serious steel grinding and stonework. This is why we can have several batt packs and a one hour (‘ish) charger Lol.

    Any owners of this type of dewalt grinder haveing real issues undoing the locknut to replace blades?

    • @danreviewsitall
      @danreviewsitall  Před 3 lety

      Not heard of anything. It does come with a key but so far I haven't had to use it often.

    • @BigLeBowski4456
      @BigLeBowski4456 Před 3 lety +2

      Most of the times I've had trouble with the locknut is when the blad took a sudden big impact on the material I was cutting, causing the blade or diamond drill bit to turn slightly and then tightening the locknut. Can happen with any grinder in my experience.
