  • Incredible and at times unreal and very surreal footage taken from the Port side of the cruise ship MSC Divina as it leaves Port di Venezia in the Italian City of Venice sailing between the main islands of Venice and Giudecca along the Giudecca Canal within the Venetian Lagoon. The video footage has been sped up by 400%, whilst the soundtrack has been edited and kept at a constant normal speed. The net result is an effect that at times makes Venice look like a model city rather than an actual one. Featured in the video is a long panoramic vista over the city of Venice, with the tops of buildings including towers and many churches clearly visible. As the clock strikes six, the church bells begin to ring, and the soundtrack of this is featured with the video. Many of Venice's most familiar sites including St. Mark's Square, St Mark's Campanile, St. Mary of the health's Basilica, The Grand Canal and La Salute Church. The footage ends as the ship enters open waters in the Venetian Lagoon before entering the Adriatic Sea.

Thanks for the comment, I use a Canon Legria HFS200, a bit past it now, although still a contender in the home-use market, edited simply with iMovie, I've tried Premiere and Final Cut, but for what I need iMovie delivers decent results with not too much trouble. I don't know if we are related, but if we are it would be very distant as my family is not huge, and if you're in the education business as your name suggests, then there's another coincidence! Cheers!

Hello thanks for the comment, I don't remember in all honesty about the piano player.

We share the same last name, perhaps we're related? Well-made from a cheap camera, and you have editing skill with a capable consumer-level editing program. There are some videos already that provide a visual tour of the Divina, but this point-of-view was most interesting. My kid and I followed the ship's path along with Google Earth's view of Venice. Makes a case for me to pickup an inexpensive HD camcorder to replace my once-expensive SD camcorder that's now obsolete. I like your stuff.
