- In this video we put the M1862 Leech & Rigdon, a Classic Confederate Cap & Ball Revolver to the test in two Chapters. Chapter one pits the Leech & Rigdon shooting round balls against it shooting Eras Gone Colt Navy Conical bullets in a fun competition. In Chapter 2 I shoot the Leech & Rigdon across various targets and distances to discover its range! Hope you enjoy it!

See a Cap & Ball video and I click !!!! Love the channel and content. Good shooting with classic confederate revolver, love the history too.
Thank you!!! Glad you found me…I’ll try to keep em interesting.
great vidio glade i waited for it ir very nice revolver and the shooting was super thanks for sharing
Thank you Les!!!
I am always impressed at your long range off-hand shooting. Love that R&L also!
Thank you! I really enjoy it! It’s nice revolver indeed!
I got hooked on cap n ball revolvers back in the early 80’s. Then life happened and time for the finer things in life got put on hold. Picked it back up about 4 years ago. Love watching your channel. I set up a nice woods walk range on my little farm. I use my cap n ball revolvers and my flintlocks on it. Great fun. Look forward to future videos of yours.
So glad you came back. Life has a way of doing that. That’s sort of my story too! Love the woods walk idea….thats on my wish list here too.,..thank you!!
I really enjoy your videos thank you very much
You’re welcome. Thanks for taking the time to write! I’ll keep trying!
I love a smooth first shoot, and second, or third. BP is an adventure "for me" every time. Looks Great and smooth. Thanks! I was unaware of this one's availabilities.
I agree with you. Each shoot session is a bit different with the same revolver! Love the challenge!!! It is a smooth shooter. It’s good one. Think I got it from Dixie Gun Works. Thanks!
Very much enjoyed as always! And I’d say you knocked those paper boys out of commission for sure! It is fun to shoot any distance and great fun longer distances. You have a great place there to do so! I also like your pouch for your capper! I’ll just bet you made it? What a very handy place to have your capper instead of feeling around a possibles bag. Kind Thanks, Many Blessings and More Fun Shootin! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Thank you Davey. I love the capper pouch and it’s a Ted Cash thing. I bought it for like $11 and it’s great. Thanks.
Like I said before I always enjoy watching you shoot (probably because of all the fun) and I also noticed a long time ago about the ‘rhythm’ that you have when shooting. Nice 50y shooting too👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Enjoy the rest of your weekend as well !
Thanks Kevin! It’s probably a bit unorthodox but…it works so far!
Yessir it seems to be👍🏽
Hello, thanks for all your great videos. I have a Uberti Leech & Rigdon too. I was really annoyed with Uberti for the engraved cylinder, just shows its all about the money. I assume they just put the standard 1851 Navy cylinder as they get them massed produced. Simple to pull a batch out of the press engraved process but they just couldn't be bothered :( Black mark Uberti, hope you show a bit more class in the future and think about your customers much more than you do now. Cheers Chris
I absolutely agree with you on that. Thank you!!
Something funny, It's off subject, however, I shoot Bullseye outdoor pistol, One of the things guys commented about doing to improve their follow through while shooting, was to fire a Cap and Ball black powder pistol for some practice just doing that, the dwell time of Hammer fall, cap ignition, powder ignition and barrel time for the projectile is considerably slower, you really have to follow through with each shot to shoot accurately with black powder pistols. anyway, that was just some talk from the firing line, Peace Brother. - Dave
Hey Dave. They are right! And that’s the challenge I’ll tell you! It comes and goes lol. Thanks buddy. Flintlock rifle or pistol is even harder.
Old dudes told me this 50 years ago. Dad made me start at the "start" with an 1858 to slow me down, get me in the game. Still love her.
@davefellhoelter1343 glad to hear it!!! This is a slow and patient hobby. Lowers my blood pressure!!! Thanks
good revolver, Pietta could do the same with frame and handle of a 1851 and barrel of a griswold and gunisson... the only part not correct is the notch of the loading lever, different on a real leech and rigdon. I don't know why Uberti don't made it, not realy more difficult as the 51, perhaps the cost of the change...
Yes! Pietta could easy. It’d be nice to get the latch…but I’d been happy with the bare cylinder. Thanks
Looks a lot like a grizwald and gunniston
Yes! Except the GG is brass framed as it was back in the day.
Shows us what to expect when we spend the money. And what we need to work out of the firearm. Or if we need to avoid it, spend that money elsewhere. Round ball is preferred by me I do not see much of a difference at short yardage to sway the opinion
I’m all round balls… I find them more accurate under 50 yards. Thanks
