Why wasn't this advertised? I love this event and in the last few years its been scrapped and now happens and no one locally (I live 6 miles away) even bothered to advertise it. Shame about the runway - more money in storing tin boxes no-one wants that letting us have proper runs - perhaps they need to shift to the museum at Coventry Airport, assuming that hasn't been despatched to some far flung airfield 4-6 hrs away.
What a nightmare situation now the runway has been lost. Most of the aircraft were taken to 100 knots or so before power being shut off. They need a new home. Static engine runs no good.
The lightning preservation group have a small compound around the QRA shelters that were built after funds were raised to house the lightnings. This allows the cold war jets collection to do engine runs on not just the lightnings but also the remaining jets. Unfortunately as you can see behind the fence the runway is still being used by that ever so important car auction group.

Nice one. Interesting hearing the "igniter" in the Hunter and pity they didn't fire up the Canberra :)
Not the same without the Buccaneers. I hardly think a Jet Provost is classed as a Cold War jet
I thought this had been stopped after Bruntingthorpe sold up to yhe car people, for storage and why the Buccaneers had been moved out
