What a thoroughly nice guy.........the kind of guy you'd enjoy a few beers with. Thanks Mike and Mike!!
Cheers!
He is a top bloke and yes, a party animal in the pub! Happy days flying with him as SFO.
Interesting chap… nicely down to earth too! 👍
I was in Houston surveying around the NASA area and heard a strange sounding jet. Looked up and seen this aircraft with this _massive_ wing fly directly over me backlit by a blazing sun.
Instantly knew it was a Canberra.
I think he was one of the Instructors in the BBC TV Series 'Fighter Pilot' in 1978/79
Great interview. And I laughed! What a character. Thank you.
Yeah he certainly is!
loved being on 100 Sqn in the early 90’s. Spent 18 months on the Canberra. PR7, TT18, B2, T4. great times.
"68 turned up at Bassingbourn....." I was working for Airwork at Bassingbourn at that time. Brings back a few memories.
By coincidence I was at Royal Naval School Tal-Habdaq in Malta at the same time as Mike. I was fifteen in 1965.
Fantastic ! Looking forward to part 2… Thank you!
Cheers
Great stuff - thanks for sharing 👍 Was expecting the photo of the Hunter from the Canberra to be a zoomed in rivet 😂
😂
A great story as I was a member of 31squadron photo section from 1963-66. Its great to hear stories from that time. I remember well the tacevals the flash crates and our Ch/trch photog who would always disappear at about 1900 hrs where we would find him listening to"The Archers in his WV Combi. Thank you for the memories.
I worked with a man that flew the Canberra In the USAF , he said it was,the most stable attack platform with that big wing..60s he ever flew he loved, it
Hi Mike, great to see you looking so well. Brilliant interview. Now why am I remembering those fun Malaga night stops , enjoying a San Miguel on the beach outside the hotel ? Brian.
Sorry I missed you at Donny Mike, perhaps next time . . .
Great chat. Thanks AI!
Great to hear you enjoyed it.
Brilliant interview, what a fascinating guy.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks
I flew with Mike Jamieson, a bit, in the early 70s. Is there a Part 2 and if so, where?
Nice one. There is indeed. It will be out Sunday at 1900.
Fantastic interview. What an interesting chap and nice bloke. Hope he’s got more to share. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah Mike is a top bloke.
have seen many of these in operation at RAF Luton
Top stuff! Thank you!
Cheers!
A Bucket of Sunshine is a good read about Canberra in RAFG.
Reading about Canberras they where an extremely stable platform. US used them as well and extended the wings and used as a high altitude PR aircraft.
Bonza blokes.
Fantastic interview!
Cheers!
Awesome interview. Canberra is so cool. There is one at the museum close to where I live in Orlando and I got to climb in it once
Cheers Karl.
_He was the first to be sent to Heaven_
🥹👍🏻 So cool a motto.
Excellent
Cheers
Great interview thank you. Pilots are pilots and will always be pilots. Larrikins but professional and gets the job done. 🙂
Cheers!
I was there when the T4 crashed at Wyton in 1991. Sad day.
Bloody good vocabulary - Total contrast to listening to the American ex-Mil - Top bloke
Did anyone ever try only loosing the tip tank on the failed engine side?
Yorkshire gods country huh The red rose has that honour and the canberra was produced near Preston. One of the first the test pilot and navigator where killed not far from our house in ingol near preston and the canal. I have always body swerved that plane. It just cleared our houses before hitting power lines above a field 6 fields away and exploded, one wing and engine blown into the canal. this is probable a story that us kids heard that his head was found three fields away. So Canberra was not mentioned a lot in our house.
