    -------
Ms Shamsie was due to be given the Nelly Sachs Prize by the city of Dortmund in Germany, but the award was withdrawn after the judges said her support of the boycott was in contrast to the ideal of reconciliation that the prize exemplified.

It's not anti-Semitic to criticize Jews either. Criticizing Jewish individuals or Jewish organizations does not mean you hate Jews, nor does it mean you hold all Jews accountable for the actions of said Jewish individual or Jewish organization.

Israel has milked sympathy for far to long being able to say that any criticism of their crimes against humanity and breaking of international laws and corruption without repercussion is anti semitic is total rubbish and they should be brought to account for their recent and past actions especially their persecution of the palestinians.

"Every time anyone says that Israel is our only friend in the Middle East, I can't help but think that before Israel, we had no enemies in the Middle East." -- John Sheehan, S.J. From The Journal of Historical Review , March/April 2002 (Vol. 21, No. 2), page 34.

No enemies in the Middle East? Seems to me the Western Powers created enemies at every step, overthrowing democratically elected governments with dictators and shahs that keep their people suppressed while enriching themselves on Western money and power.
BDS may not be anti-semitic, But it has served as political cover and excuse for Palestinian's own leadership to suppress and miseducate their own people while they enrich themselves. The author talking about no difference in culture and politics is either stunningly naive or knows she is being dishonest and doesn't care. Because, as she tells us, she likes nice checks.
People supporting BDS are either being suckered or are doing the suckering. BDS has made zero impacting while making a lot of people in the business of making money on outrage getting rich on selling more outrage.

If BDS had no impact they wouldn't be making such a big deal about it. Its impact may not be crippling Israel's economy (it was never intended to) but it serves a role, even if its largely symbolic.

The Journal of Historical Review a "non-peer reviewed pseudoacademic periodical" founded by "far right political activist Willis Carto which primarily focuses on Holocaust denial". It doesn't sound like a good source to quote when your names "stand4Liberty". Nonetheless, despite your feelings on Israel or the accuracy of the Journal of Historical Review the quote is garbage. Europe has had numerous enemies in the Middle East primarily with Turkish and Arab expansionism.

The word ‘boycott’ comes from here in Ireland (although, somewhat ironically, it comes from an English soldier of the same surname, who so angered an entire Irish village during our colonial/enslaved times that neither he nor his family were served by any local shops or businesses, or talked to, in a significant step up from the old, quaint British tradition of ‘Sending someone to Coventry’ - whatever’s so ghastly and horrifying about Coventry - thus turning Captain Boycott into an internationally-known and wielded act of opposition).
There aren’t many Jews in Ireland, and we have a shoddy, often shameful history of how we’ve treated Jews - Ireland very firmly refused to help any fleeing Jews during world war 2, for example, with a Hitler-admiring, fiercely anti-Semitic Irish Minister ensuring that only a tiny handful of Jews were accepted into Ireland (I’m not joking when I say you literally wouldn’t need all the fingers of both hands to count how many refugee Jews Ireland officially accepted during WW2, thanks to that gentleman), to our enduring shame.
Still, whenever Eu-wide polls are done on the topic, today Ireland consistently is the friendliest towards Jews, and the least anti-Semitic (probably because we have very few left here, so people don’t have any opinion of them, Klingon-speakers or Pastafarians, and as such probably take a standard “I’m sure they’re a grand bunch of lads” neutral approach).
However, Israel - her government, that is - remains deeply, intensely disliked by the Irish people, and Irish politicians, both of whom show a passionate pro-Palestinian interest and support (with Palestine’s flag often officially flown at council/city hall meetings, for example). This leads to regular calls in Ireland to boycott Israel in any capacity - devoid of anti-Semitism as a near absolute majority, as it is the political machinations of Netanyahu and his government and military which angers people here, rather than the incidental religion he has, or his people.
There’s probably something profoundly awful that our two countries, with similar names, and similar strong ideas of identity and nationalism, and similar experiences of horrific, terrible terrorism, should so icily regard each other (politically, only - nobody here says anything bad about ordinary Israelis, I must stress), with Ireland also weighing in quite often on boycotting Israel via populist calls for support of Palestine etc, but nobody seems to bother shouting that the Irish hate Jews, as we see happening in America in particular, and is Britain, the moment anyone criticizes Netanyahu or his government.
In short, boycott Israel and condemn her government - but don’t be a horrible, bigoted anti-Semite, and don’t hate ordinary Israelis, who are just as great and nice and awful and terrible as all the rest of us. Fair enough?

She wasn’t “critical of Israel”, she was critical of Israel’s warped politics. The fact that the Israeli state is acting like the only spokesperson for the entire Jewish people should be a massive red flag for blatant manipulation. It’s not antiemetic to call out the crimes of a corrupt government, or the twisted psychological games it plays to get out of any and all criticism of its actions.

We respectfully express utmost criticism against Cathy Newman of Channel 4 News for what she did on Jan 16, 2018: biased line of questioning, poor listening skills, and an inability to engage in productive dialogue with someone with a different view. Shame on Cathy Newman! Shame!

Cathy Newman of Channel 4 News ought to be ashamed of herself for how she conducted the interview on Jan 16, 2018. Her inability to listen and paraphrase her interviewee is absolutely appalling and should be strongly criticized. Cathy Newman still hasn’t apologized for her bad behaviour. What a shame.

Channel 4 News: Cathy Newman made multiple mistakes in paraphrasing her interviewee’s statements on Jan 16, 2018 and still hasn’t taken any professional responsibility. You ought to sack her for that. I hope that karma will do its job and have her end up in divorce, sickness, and suffering from her children not loving her back for what she did on Jan 16, 2018. Shame on you, Cathy Newman, you horrible human being. I hope the worst misfortunes befall upon you for what you did on Jan 16, 2018. We hate you, Cathy Newman. Shame on you.
