Story of the Father of Automobiles | Karl Benz | The Story of Mercedez-Benz
Benz had 9 years of practical experience after completing his official schooling at several mechanical engineering firms. He didn't fit in any of them, which was both unfortunate and lucky. Unfortunate, in the sense that it was not ideal for him, and fortunate, in the sense that it was ideal for the world.
Karl Benz then relocated to Mannheim, where he began working as a scale industrial design engineer and architect. In 1868, he joined a bridge-building enterprise. He soon relocated to Vienna and briefly worked for an iron building firm.
Karl Benz was unable to settle into any of the professions he tried owing to a lack of interest.
But one thing about which Karl was sure of was that he loved riding his bicycle and wished to build horseless carriages.
Karl Benz realised that he couldn't blend in as an employee after seven years and that he was born to be a businessman.
