  • Hi all,
All product links are further down 😊 ⬇️.
Here is a video of me experimenting with a Labradorite effect. I absolutely love these! Again, you can do this with regular resin and it would probably work better when it comes to the scoring part, you will have less of the issues I had as the resin will bond much better.
As mentioned, here is the vid link which inspired me:

I do a labradorite effect but use interference mica powder.... pour small partial layers in mold and cure, burnish the layer with powder and scratch and simply repeat until mold is full.. I tilt the mold when curing so that the various layers are formed at different angles to add depth.

I think these would be beautiful even without the scratches. I know the scratches are for the labradorite effect but I think I'll try this technique without scratching. Beautiful pieces.

This is similar to what we do with our dipping cabs in our acrylic paint pours. I’ve used a popsicle stick with some putty on the end for smooshing the cab into the paint. Then you don’t have to use your fingers. I like the look of these very stone like. Resin art is amazing.

I feel like the black scratches in this video look more realistic than in the most recent one, mostly because they more irregular in thickness, and because of the cracks. You should also try not to run all the scratches from one edge to the other. In the real stones, finer scratches will begin in the middle of the stone from a thicker scratch.

I love your channel!!! A thought I had about the scratches (since my artistic eye really dislikes the trapped air) was this: Could you put the 'scratches' down first with say...buttonhole thread pulled or placed across the back of the cab, saturated with black resin first, cured, then do the press? I would try it, but most of my art supplies are still buried in boxes packed in anticipation of a move that didn't happen recently.
