    I test rode a 2015 HD Sportster 1200 low T.The bike rumbled and shook and it had character.This bike was mechanical and had soul.I was really happy riding it.I never been so stoked on any bike I ridden before than this Harley.I know why people ride them now.None of my Japanese Sportbikes had this kind of attraction.I'm going to buy one.Join the Harley Owner's group or some other Motorcycle club and have a good time.

      I was using two strokes Japanese 50 and 125cc as a kid. Now 68 bought first a 150 scooter, one month later a suzuki boulevard 800 cc that looks to me very aggressive and powerful. Two month later jumped to a 99 sportster 1200 cc . End of the search. The Harley feels as less powered than the Suzuki being 400cc lower, but the Harley's ride is incomparable. She rides with you.

    I failed to hear any comment about the ride position - easy reach of bars - how (or how not) the bike is planted on the road, it's ability to respond to change on the road, how he felt after 20 + minutes etc in the saddle - etc etc etc. Basically nothing to find out here. 😩

      In 2011 I bought a 1 year old HD Night Train and those bikes have less vibration than a 2017 Victory Magnum that had more vibration. Otherwise the Victory was nice. The Indian chief is better or an HD Streetglide, In my experience riding them. But to each his own. Pricing is quite close too. Ride safe.

    I recently took a test ride on a Victory 8 ball with a 106 engine, and 6 speed transmission, and it was really easy to move side to side on when compared the HD Sportster Custom I rode, and with the down draft , fuel injected heads, the Victory 8 ball accelerated really quick when you got on the throttle hard. The most fun I had out of the 18 HD's that I have owned was Harley Buell. At 80 mph , the Buell was VERY smooth because it has no frame underneath to transfer vibrations to the rider.

    - Compares 1200 cc with 1731 cc.
    - You want as much power as you can get? It's a cruiser and not a crotch rocket. You are supposed to cruise.

    ive often thought about getting a harley but only for the sound.. with the right pipes they sound great but thats the only good thing about a harley. never ridden one but i imagine they are freakin horrible to ride. ive only just got back into bikes, i started riding bikes when i was in primary school, my first bike was a 1977 TS 250, thats what i learnt to ride on at about 7 or 8yrs of age. i rode all thru my teens and 20's on dirt and road bikes and i dont want to jinx myself, but ive never dropped a bike. ever. not even a dirt bike while riding hard, but i was young and super fit back then lol.. ive just started riding again after about 15yrs of no motorbikes and while this time round it scares the absolute crap out of me.. im loving it. only have an old klr250 atm and i only have that because it popped locally for sale with a rebuilt topend and it was dirt cheap. want to get a brand new bike but i have no idea what. the 250 dualsports seem to struggle on the highway but are nice once u hit the dirt, the big dualsports like nerbsans would be great on the highway but too big for me on the dirt so i just dunno. i live pretty rural so i need highway capability as i dont want to be slower than trucks on the highway or have to ring the guts out of it to do highway speeds. anyhoo this is turning into a rant, so next video..

    Not a bad review Tom. The Victory Vegas is bound to be a quicker machine after all the engine is around 530cc larger. Would be better if you rev match your downward gear changes on large twins as you get a smoother gearshift and it's kinder on the gearbox.

    The HD that you're riding in the video is a rubbermount frame. If you rode an 03 or earlier, it would vibrate MUCH more. Also, comparing a sportster to the victory is kinda like apples and oranges as the sportster can't really be considered a cruiser like the victory

    The Victory 8 ball is right in the price range of a HD Sportster Custom. I called my local HD dealer to check the price. The new Victory's now come with a 6 speed transmissions and 106 cc engine , 4 valve heads, down draft fuel injection. When it comes to an American bikes, The Victory wins hands down..

  • @MrSlowestD16
    @MrSlowestD16 Před 10 lety

    The turn signal placement on the HD's is different, but I don't mind it - I **HATE** the self-canceling, though. It's nice when you make a nice 90* turn like you did at the end and works in your favor, but sometimes it cancels when you don't want it to or vice versa, it stays on after your turn. Either way I think the self-canceling on those are a fucking hazard and I hate it.
    Yeah, can't see shit out of the mirrors but that's not exactly new to HD, many mirrors are like that, you get good at differentiating blobs and learn to deal, ha.
    The 1200 custom is a good all-around bike, IMO for like town/main road riding. On the highway the revs are too high and the vibrations numb your ass, and it weighs a bit much to be a super agile urban bike. Def. nice, though. The only thing that really kind of sucks out of the box is the suspension, which is too low and has too little travel.

    Hello from Canada! Its entertaining to see an unexperienced guy giving advice and comparing a 73 ci sportster to a 100 ci Victory or 106 ci, depending on the model year of his 8 ball lol. But besides the biased comments he is making he actually liked the small Harley lol. Just listen to his statements lol. Victory is the cheaper of the Polaris brands, Indian is more of an accurate comparison to Harley Davidson. I have taken rides on all of them, bought a Harley Davidson, and without problems. Indian is closer to the Harley than Victory as far as comfort and chrome quality, etc,thats why the Indian is priced like the Harley, you DO get what you pay for. Test ride proper comparable bikes and buy what you like instead of listening to biased riders, you be the judge but putting down other bike brands is just not cool. A true motorcycle enthusiast does not troll or hate other brands, "ride what you like and like what you ride, but just ride man, just ride, and ride safe and ENJOY!".

  • @amphibdriver1
    @amphibdriver1 Před 10 lety

    I can buy a 2013 Victory 8 ball for $9,999 and a 2014 Victory 8 ball for $11,449.Both of these Victory prices are out door prices. I can buy a 2014 Sportster $11,999 out the door and a 2013 Sportser for $11,449 out the door. So the Victory 8 ball is right in the price range of the Sportster custom ,but you get a 106 cc motor and a 6 speed transmission too. Both bikes are American made, but the Victory is now a better bang for the buck in my opinion. I have owned 12 HD big twins, and 4 sportster.

    He's comparing a Harley Sportster to a Victory. The Victory cost's more then twice as much and has a 106ci motor compared to the 1200cc Sportster. Sportster's are relatively light, with a punchy/ fun bottom end and make for great Bobber's and Bar Hopper's. A more fair comparison would be the Victory and a Harley Road or Ultra Glide.

    what do you expect. you cant fairly compare a bike with a 106 ci motor to a 1200 cc sportster. I have a 96 ci dyna and my friends victory leaves me in the dust. the 1200 sportster is a great bike for what it is... apples and oranges...

      Same I was thinking, he is saying the Victory has more power. Thats because he doesn't realize that a 74 ci engine will not have the same power as a 106 ci. He doesnt mention the Victory cost a lot more too.

    Why do you have to wear reflector vests ?

      He's in the UK. Motorcycle riders are required to wear them by law.

      Runeguy33 He is in Melbourne, Australia. He is probably wearing the vest because its a requirement made by the dealership before test riding one of their bikes.

    those 1200s need the carbs opened up and some slip ons, mine breaths waaay better, sounds alot more throaty. Stock exhaust on cruisers always suck because of regulations, you won't really get the full harley effect without modification!
    The bigger Harleys DO "rattle your face off" but that is what its all about it being loud and bouncy!

      ah. mines not. I had typed in 06 when I found the video, which are carburated. Deffinately can't compare a low level small Harley to a victory vegas 8 ball. 2 different classes.

    Have you tried the Dyna models? Such as the dyna super glide or the dyna low rider? Those bikes have the larger 103 cid engine and actually have a lot more power. Also, they are smoother and the mirrors don't vibrate much. But, the sportsters are great cruisers and will easier out run and out maneuver a Japanese equivalent cruiser (such as the C90 or S83 boulevard. Glad you guys are having fun !

    Yes your used to the victory period thats all you kno, you spent 20mins on the sportstar and you think you got it worked out? spend as much time on it as you do your victory then come back and say ya peice now get off and stay off.. the sportstar is way more stable, plenty of getup power, manovering and gets more attention.. its a worthy ride..
