That sad, but what about his father? A good father, meaning one who will put foot in your azz when you get out of line, often curbs that desire that young men naturally have. Young men and teenage boys are naturally rebellious. It takes a strong father to keep them in line.

When JA apologised in the interview with Jalen Rose, he was at times speaking about himself in the 3rd person. As an apology and position to accept responsibility, this places Ja at a distance, as if he’s not the person that is accountable for his actions and apology. This was a key indicator that he had no legitimate, not sincere intentions to atone.
it was a PR stunt. anyone who believed otherwise back then was gullible or a memphis/Ja fan. it was pretty clear that he had no remorse/loves guns. I'm sure Ja would rather be in a gang or open his own gun store than play basketball.

Is it illegal for a nba player to have a gun lmk I’m not understanding this🤔
It's not illegal for NBA players to own guns, but they can't bring them to the arena or on road trips. However, in Ja's case of being a repeat offender for the 2nd time in 2 months, he is severely harming the image of the NBA by brandishing guns while gangster rap is blasting away in the background. This is the kind of image the league had in the late 90s and early 2000s, and the NBA did everything it could to distance itself from that image. Ja needs to understand the kind of trouble he is putting himself in by acting this way and not realizing how gun ownership is a very big responsibility. Guns aren't rap video props or toys, they're tools for self defense that need to be operated in a safe manner. One day, someone is gonna test him and see if he's really about that gangster life and he isn't gonna get the right answer.

This is a deeper conversation we need to have within the black community about young men feeling the need to act a certain way or be a certain way when your a young black man with money. Its the music, hood culture and many other aspects of being a young black man in america... Even if you dont come from that lifestyle many young men feel like they need to act like this to fit in or be considered hard or your not "black enough".. seems like no one wants to have that conversation though... Its deeper than a lot of people care to admit. I think the music plays a massive role and thats where i personaly would love to see more studies and discusions concerning its effect on the youth .. we need to stop celebrating these types of charecters in our community and the youth will follow..
I appreciate what you're saying, but what are these studies and discussions going to do, really? This music will continue to exist because it makes money. Thats all America cares about. The only real change would come from new FCC standards that would never stand up to a Supreme Court challenge.
Here is what's particularly frustrating in Ja's case: he's not from that culture. He is in a lot of ways what a lot of us aspire to have: 2 parents, grew up middle class, made it to the NBA, millions of dollars at his fingertips but for some reason he of all people is validating and celebrating the hood culture so many of us work our lives to try to get out of

To be clear; Ja was in a private setting, he more than likely owns the gun legally, it isnt reported that he was threatening anyone with said gun, and he wasnt on any official team business at the time.
For all intents and purposes Ja has committed no crimes, nor was anyone in danger, yet he's getting more bad press than people in the league that committed *actual* crimes or reprehensible acts. For goodness sake we as a society have politicians that are regularly recorded with guns, heck some of them even took full family photos with guns. To be clear here, we're holding *certain* athletes to standards that we don't even hold elected officials to. Maybe we need to stop putting athletes on pedestals, and stop demanding that they be role models all because they're tall and can shoot/throw/dunk a ball good.
If Ja gonna keep being around guns he might as well get an endorsement from a pro-gun organization.

There is definitely a larger conversation that can takes place because of this new incident. Ja has built up his physical strength and agility but his mind is weak. Unfortunately, he's not alone in the black community. It's not a question of ability, but of judgement...of decision making. It's a question of having a short-term juvenile perspective of life versus having a long-term mature view of life. I would say hard core rap is a problem even though most would not. I'll always love the bass and beats, but I can't listen to many rap songs anymore because often the lyrical content is a blueprint for self-gratification, self-indulgence, and the disregard for other people that are not familiar. Growing up the suburbs, I listened to hard core rap as entertainment, but as I grew into an adult and traveled the country, I saw many children, young adults, and grown men listened to hard core rap and adopted the lyrics as instructions for how to live. There are plenty of difficult circumstances in which people live, and they should be identified so that those circumstances can be improved, but those circumstances are not the goal. Regardless of the situation one finds themselves in, the goals for ourselves, for our communities, and for humanity (since we all share the same planet) must be higher. In the second gun incident Ja finds himself in, did you listen to the lyrics of the rap song he and is associates were listening too? How would his daughter or any child turn out listening to that often growing up? What values and beliefs are those lyrics reinforcing in his life. Whatever they are, they don't look desirable for establishing a healthy and prosperous family and environment. He's not alone in his mistakes, but he is a high profile individual and his mistakes are highlighted. There are plenty of young men and women making the same mistakes as him, but without the wealth and opportunity he has. Ja is displaying symptoms that are prevalent across the country. What is the remedy? Yes, respected leaders with a vision who articulate a healthy value and belief system to be adopted. What is also needed, and what is most often lacking, is a rebuke of the destructive values and beliefs (and of their practitioners) that permeate the black community. Pride needs to be swallowed. The past can be a reference but it's set in stone. Only present and future actions can change anything so forward-looking contemplation and discussions must be had. An attitude of taking less and giving more must be adopted. Yes, we can all feel discomfort but can you endure it a little longer to lend a hand to the person next to you? And can they do the same for you and others? We need to sacrifice more and should view this concept like the time value of money (TVM). If we invest today, that investment will yield a greater return in the future. Invest in yourself, your family, your community, your country. Invest in your mind. If feels great to be young and strong, but mankind has already demonstrated the ability to subjugate earth's largest and strongest species with research, planning, and the proper execution of strategy...with the mind. Strength of the mind should be coveted and revered, and is THE ONLY WAY to succeed in the competitive, but hopefully relatively peaceful and fair, world that currently exists. Love yourself and love one another!!!!

Ja made the NBA look silly af for giving him that lil slap on wrist 8 game suspension. Now the league gotta get their lick back. I see a minimum 50 games
That money and responsibility is coming in too quick. People forget that he is still young and very immature. That's a big change to go from virtually nothing to a millionaire, with million dollar endorsements. That means changing the people you hang around which might be a struggle for him. We all hear them say it's lonely at the top so it's natural to want to hang out with your old friends. But, when you and your friends no longer have nothing in common you have to have the sense to cut that relationship off. The difference from now and before is that he has EVERYTHING to lose when his friends have nothing to lose.
Quite frankly, anybody that records you doing something you just got in trouble for is not a friend. If you have to show out in front of a friend then you aren't a friend either. So it needs to be cut off, and his dad needs to stop trying to be his friend and tell him the truth. It can all be lost with one dumb choice.
Imagine if this was draymond he would be suspended the whole year 😂😂😂😂😂

Draymonds record is clean off the court. He even rocked Poole ON the court.
@@Travvv94 That actually makes sense. LOL
@@Travvv94 hahaha spot on
Draymond is an incredibly smart person. This would never happen to him.
I understand how someone would think that though because of the on court persona.
Bro really the first player to try and make it out the league lol
I don’t really understand why temas suspend they’re players like that imo let them play without payment hit them in they’re pockets where it hurts the most
This a tough one Ja good luck man
If Goofy had a mascot it would be Ja Morant
Ja needs a new circle around him, he has a daughter and a family to take care of. At some point he needs to grow up and make SMARTER decisions. Be more responsible Ja, please for ur future.
You're probably right, but even though this wasn't on his IG, he knew he was on IG & still did it.
Change of circle probably won't hurt, but ultimately, he's an adult & until he makes better decisions, this will be an issue, no matter who he's around.
Changing who's around him, is treating the symptom, not the disease
@@saucecastillo460 who you hang around with matters and your decisions no matter who's around matters as well. Hope he eventually learns how to be more responsible sooner rather than later
@@Warn_A_Brotha I agree, but ultimately, he has to be the one who makes better choices.
And while his circle should change, every decision was made by him
I don't know if its a case of having too much down time on his hands, or what! But he is about to ruin his career. And then what? Become the leading scorer of your church league team? 😔
No more like the circle need to get away from him for their own sake cause at this point it’s clear Ja is the problem not people around him
Demar Derozan: From the hood to the NBA.
Ja Morant: From the NBA to the hood.
Ja Public Team:
Looking at it again…. In the car yesterday I think Ja had a lithium ion battery powered hair drier. 😬
"you know he's not stupid" but Doc Rivers said "we don't know that" 🤣
Anything short of a release from the Grizzlies and a full season suspension will only serve to enable him even further. He’s convinced his talent makes him untouchable and the only way to get through to a person like that is to show them that they in fact can be touched
Probably get 10 games this time... 🤷♂️
Totally agree, he needs a 1 year suspension, that’s probably the only thing that will wake him up, and if it doesn’t he’s doomed anyway
they cant release him r u fkn stupid. every team will try to sign him
Fully agree with a one year suspension, but releasing him from the team only punishes the team
@@DartmouthOutingClub you don’t think the Grizzlies deserve to be punished? They condoned this bs for all this time then tried to scapegoat Dillon Brooks like he was the cancer of the team
"When keepin' it real goes wrong"
Who is to say it wasn't before the first video!!? 👁
He went from point guard to shooting guard
Ja Morant is an example of every kid with potential but behaviour causing that untapped real potential
nah he really aint. he grew up rich and has rare athleticism. like less than .1% of people.. so yea. plus hes an nba super start already... so...
Just bc people SAY he's smart doesn't mean it's true
He'll be back in the league on no time, there is no consequences for millionaires, especially athletes
I find it strange that no one is blaming the gun.
2019 Draft class looking pretty terrible right now 😂😂😂😂
2019 draft class still the most successful in recent memory even better than 2018.
Top 10 from 2019 are Zion (2 time all star), Morant (all star), RJ Barrett (2x playoffs), GARLAND (all star), Tyler Herro (EC Finals MVP 2020), Grant Williams (2022 SemiFinals MVP), Jordan Poole (NBA Champ 2022), Nic Claxton (Block Champion 2023), Terrance Mann (2021 SemiFinals MVP), Cam Johnson (2021 Finals), Keldon Johnson (TEAM USA 2021)
Look at the success of these players my God.
2018 has a bunch of FAKE top players with limited playoff success. Luka showed this season he isn't THAT guy he needs other all stars to make the playoffs. The other all stars from 2018 all have huge flaws with limited ceilings.
@@alexfigura1871everyone can't be that guy with that mavs team bozo
@Kieran Harris maybe but it's close Grant Williams Game 7 was an all timer and Game 7's are twice as important as any other game cause it's the highest pressure
I'll never understand why someone like Ja who has a daughter chooses to be part of this lifestyle I hope this young brother never has to use a gun in order to defend himself but everything that is happening is self inflicted I hope his pop's steps up and tries to help him out you aren't his friend you're his FATHER
Great comment. Almost word for word from Stephen A Smiths mouth the first time he got suspended. Have an original thought then post it. 😅😅
Was this b4 the first time we found out or after?
Definitely highly intelligent the reason we all know that is because of how he dribbles that basketball but when I knew he was on the boarder of being a genius is when I saw him dunk that ball the amount of force he puts it down with only says one thing Dat Boy iz smart
If this happens to you in any other job, you get fired. Set an example.
Morant enjoys wasting his future contracts 😂
He can hoop anywhere and get more money. A man must do what he must
Exactly
@@supernotnatural what 😂😂
@@supernotnatural you sure about that
@@madddoggnogood1491 he can go to china and make 4x more money like everyone. If you only knew..
He’s clearly one of those personalities where he feels the rules don’t apply to him.
Is it possible that this video is Old? I was made before his first incident?
And the Grizzlies tried to tell us Dillon Brooks was their biggest problem…🤨🙄😵💫
This guy's a gangster? His real name is Jaclarence!!
And he come from very good parents
