    For anyone concerned about the security of rivets - I have never had one pop open; however, if you aren't 100% confident in your "beating the crap out of it" application, you can put a TINY dot of super glue on the prong. I just hesitate to mention this as an option, because I don't want people to mess up and have rivets stuck to their fingers. ;)
    Also, a fine alternative to rivets are chicago screws. You do need to use super glue with those though as they can gradually loosen up over time and use of the bag.

    I just found your channel because I'm making another bag that needs rivets. Your "convention raider" bag pattern and your switch case are two patterns I've been looking for FOREVER. I keep searching for a "hip bag" but never found yours. Just bought both! You're a gem to all nerds who grew up watching Threadbanger and glomping at conventions, and you inspire me to cosplay again. Subbed, and I'm looking forward to learning so much from you you beautiful angel

    If the Only rivet(s) you have available when needed are too large, do you feel that the fabric/leather could be padded in some invisible way to enable the rivets to be used? Also, I got a rivet set that has a hole punch feature. The punch worked great, but then it's impossible to get the debris out of the punch! Suggestions?

    Thank you. I am looking to make the necessary clutch wallet and I am worried about how my domestic machine will cope with the layers. I have seen a lot of people use rivets, like you, and I want to give them a try. I also Iike the idea that the kam press can install magnetic snaps too, which I think would be good for the NCW. I have heard of Chicago screws but someone said you need to secure them with glue, which gives me a bad headache. What advice do you have for me please? I would like to make NCW'S with faux leather and cotton canvas

    • @fiercekittenz
      @fiercekittenz  Před 2 lety +1

      I'd just do the rivets. I don't use chicago screws for the same reason (also pretty sure I'd glue my fingers together in the process). If you want to make them with Faux Leather and Canvas, I'd suggest skipping the stabilizer (Peltex/Decovil) stuff down the middle. The cards will make the wallet very firm. You don't need the stabilizer at all in that case. I actually JUST made a mini one without it and it looked GREAT. I used Waterproof Canvas for the card slots though. If you aren't using waterproof canvas, definitely use DecorBond for the pockets so they stay nice and firm.

    how do you get a clean hole in thicker layers of fabric?

    • @fiercekittenz
      @fiercekittenz  Před 5 měsíci

      I hit it from both ends. So I'll pop the hole up top, then another from the bottom. Usually that's enough.
