This just shows that Matt is (or at least looks) way more comfortable playing power chord based songs rather than the more riff driven and open chord based material of post Jacket Blink.

I'm actually a much bigger fan of Matt than Tom, but the one thing I preferred about Tom was his guitar playing. He has a way with making really simple but memorable guitar riffs that Matt just doesn't have. Your comment reminded me of how, in I believe the track by track video for California, they said apparently Kings of the Weekend almost got cut from that album, but they decided to keep it because they liked the guitar riff so much. It's basically 3 power chords right after the chorus. I remember chuckling a bit after hearing that.
Matty Kal Ramone ALK3 early stuff was heavily inspired by Misfits and the Ramones. So yeah, being that it’s Matt Skiba playing the song, it sounds like what an old ALK3 song sounds like haha
