Another brilliant video. Packed with information.
Thanks Katherine! We certainly try to be extra helpful! :)
Thank you that video is amazing. I'm Swiss and i wanted to go to Schilthorn for a long time already. Now i feel more confident to do it!
Thanks Matt, what a compliment! We hope you get to visit the Schilthorn soon, and have a great experience!
Went there in July, it was amazing. The bathroom is what amazed me. It keeps you entertained while you're doing your business.
That's a great way to say it: "keeps you entertained while you're doing your business" We loved the 007 details all over the Schilthorn too!
Great video guys. I was there skiing back in 2019 and absolutely the Schilthorn is definitely worth a visit and James Bond museum is cool too 👌👌👌👌
How cool that you got to ski her! And yeah, the James Bond stuff is just fun 😎
Beautiful Video 😍Thanks for visit 🥰😊
Thanks, Schilthorn! We absolutely enjoyed our time at Schilthorn, and can't wait to see the new cablecar next year...we would love to attend the grand opening! We live in the area, so we will email you to see if we can attend as a media contact!
Thank you so much for your videos! I have learnt so much especially about the train passes. I hope you can give me a short recommendation of a must visit in the interlaken/jangfrau region for my 3 day visit in December with my family. We are not going to ski but what to see and experience the best places in that region.
thank you in advance
Hi Jana and Brett! I chanced upon your CZcams channel recently while researching for our first trip to Europe and love your enthusiasm for life! My hubs and I are going for our honeymoon in Nov, likely visiting the schilthorn and some of the places in your videos. Thanks for the great content and if we see you guys will definitely love to say hi! ❤ do you guys do tours?
So glad you stumbled on our videos! (We have a blog too, if you’re a reader). Thanks for your encouraging compliments too!😊
We literally just posted a video today about a month-by-month view at what’s open/which trains are running. You can see that here and download our free guide to see what’s open in November (especially the Schilthorn!!)

Enjoy your honeymoon! (We honeymooned here too…it’s so romantic!)
Great!... So beautiful...
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you for always putting out the most helpful videos! Just wondering if the transportation to and from the Schilthorn is covered by the Berner Oberland Pass?
Thank you for the video. My friends and I will be going there next month. Hopefully the weather will be fine😀
Hey, how have you manage accommodation ? Please share with us
Have a great trip!
love it!
Awesome! We hope you get to visit one day 😊
Taking my friends there tomorrow. Forecast is for cloudless skies!
have a fantastic time!!
We hope you’re enjoying the clear blue skies and endless views right now at the Schilthorn!!
Hi Jana and Brett, just wanted to thank you for this awesome video. We are at the Piz Gloria restaurant as I type this. My wife made a reservation for 9am as you advised. We are in the Grindelwald area for 5 days and used your videos for inspiration. Thank you so much and maybe we’ll run into you! Lol
Oh that sounds amazing! We hope you enjoyed the restaurant:) We're so glad our videos helped you plan your trip! Please say hey if you see us out and about!
@@AplinsintheAlps The restaurant was great! My wife loved the mimosas. We finished the day with a walk from Mürren to Gimmelwald a stop at the Pension for some Monch Bier, the honesty store. and some fondue in Grindelwald. Today we’re walking from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg, spending some time in Wengen, and hitting Glacier Park. Tomorrow it’s Grindelwald First, and Friday it’s off to Lugano for 5 days. Thanks again for these awesome videos!
Lovely walk from Murren, bit steep in places.
Love this video. We all loved the Schilthorn and had the James Bond brunch. Top tip - stick your phone on a tripod and let it film the vista from the revolving restaurant 😀
I love the little railway between grutschalp and murren so we usually have taken that up and then the cable car to stechelberg back!
Ha, so fun your tip about filming at the revolving restaurant...that's exactly what we did!! Totally agree about making the roundtrip using the different transport-you're a pro!
@@AplinsintheAlps - the journey we took from Grindelwald that day was mad! We went back via wengen and Kleine Scheidegg!
Hi Jana & Brett! Thanks for the detailed content. I am curious about the James Bond brunch and have a question. Is it possible to have the breakfast at restaurant, come down to Brig, enjoy the thrill walk and go back to the restaurant and have lunch again?
Are there eggetarian options available in the brunch menu?
Can we stay at the restaurant for as long as we want?
We were there in Sept 2023. An outstanding experience.
So glad to hear that!
Fun video, thank you. Any issues walking around at that altitude? We live at sea level.
You'll probably feel the altitude! But we haven't heard of many people having serious issues at the Schilthorn (just under 10,000 feet). But if you can, maybe go here after a few days in the region going to other spots in the mountains.
Amazing video thanks! Super helpful. Do they take Visa or Mastercard for payments at the cable car and restaurant ? THANKS
Hi there! We've never had a problem using those credit cards up here. Have fun!
Best time to visit? Thank u for this vlog. ❤😊
Mid May- Mid September. Once you get into October, lifts, cable cars, even some restaurants will close for the season. It's always best to double check the places you want to visit and make sure they'll be open, especially if you're traveling during non-peak season.
@@AplinsintheAlps Thank you so much 😊
Wonderful video! Love the wooden postcard, would you mind sharing how much does it costs? 😊
Hmmm good question. I don’t remember. Maybe 5 CHF?
Thanks!
Great video indeed! Anw, I'll visit Schilthorn as well on my birthday. However, I still have no idea about the birthday free ticket you've mentioned. Do you mind tell me more what kind of special facilities I might receive? And how I could get there from Zermatt? Cheers!
Hi there! We're not quite sure what you're asking, unfortunately! Can you tell us what you mean by "special facilities?"
As for how to get there, we always recommend using the SBB Mobile App to navigate from point A to point B. We explain how to do just that (plus loads more about Swiss Transportation) in our Ultimate Guide to Swiss Transportation: aplinsinthealps.com/guides/ultimate-guide-to-swiss-transportation/
Hope that helps!
@@AplinsintheAlps Thanks! Just want to confirm, special facilities here are what kind of services or something else they would offer us? For instance, a cable-car ticket and a lunch coupon?
Hey guys! Love all of your videos! Question...we have a reservation at the piz Gloria for 9:30am and we are staying the Grindelwald...so what ticket do I need to get ? We are a bit confused..and does return ticket mean round trip? Thanks.
Hi! Yes, return ticket means roundtrip. Will you have a train pass?
We have the swiss half fare card and the top of euro pass.
The Top of Europe Pass covers you from Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen, and then on the Mürren BLM up to Grütschalp and over to Mürren. From there your return ticket to the Schilthorn and back should cost 42.80 CHF. Hope that helps!
Hi Jana and Brett! We’re flying to Switzerland next week! :D planning to go to the schilthorn next Sat. There were many tips on checking the weather/webcams before heading up the mountain, but what do we look out for? If it’s foggy the night before, do we still go there next morning? When will be the best time to check the weather? We have zero experience with mountains so appreciate any advice! Thanks ❤
Great questions! We recommend checking the weather the night before and the morning of. If it's foggy or cloudy, there won't be any views-however sometimes the clouds are very high or very low, so that's what we'd check for on the webcams. Basically, how clear is it? That's the goal! Enjoy your trip to the Schilthorn!
@@AplinsintheAlps thanks so much for being so helpful guys! ❤️ we can’t wait to get there and experience Switzerland! We’re from singapore so drop us a message if you ever come by this part of the world! We’d love to connect!
That's so kind of you! And definitely stop us to say hello if you see us in Switzerland :)
Hi!! may i ask if theres anything else to do at Schilthorn besides Piz Gloria? I will be going up to Birg but i might not wanna dine at Piz Gloria.
Everything we show in this video can be done at the Schilthorn, but there are no other activities available on this mountain peak, unless you hike down. Hope that helps!
I'm planning to go to Switzerland during my birth month and was excited to find out about the birthday pass at Schilthorn. How does someone avail the free pass? It says on the website that you have to bring valid ID but not sure if I should book in advance or go in person.
Just bring your ID, there‘s no need to book in advance. But it‘s really only valid on your birthday.
Hello I really need help we want to go in switzerland with my family of 4 , 2 kids 9 and 3 years old, what is the best advice or place to go to with a budget of course i would really appreciate.
Hi there! This is a fantastic place to bring your family. We do our best to provide good budget tips and helpful videos, but we don't really have the time unfortunately to provide personalized advice. Be sure to look into the Swiss Family Card (which will save you a ton of money on transportation). There are also great playgrounds at Männlichen (the kids can play IN a cow!), Allmendhubel (above Mürren), and Bort (on the way to Grindelwald First). Some restaurants also offer discounts for children. We hope these tips help, and that our other videos do as well!
When (which season were you here?) ps. Thanks for the content
This was filmed in the summer season :)
How about the Swiss Travel Pass? Does it include discount up to Schilthorn?
Yes
Yes. It’ll cost you a bit over 42 chf.
We totally left that out of the video on accident! If you have the Swiss travel pass or Berner Oberland regional pass, it should cost 42.80 roundtrip. Thanks for asking!
Do you have an off-season guide? I almost pressed purchase on your guide but then realised that gondala to First stops in late October. I need a guide for the shut down period ie early November. Can you help? Walking tours, free stuff, what transport , etc. I’d like to see a lake, a waterfall, views. Any assistance would be great
Hi there! We don't yet have an off-season guide. But we're releasing a video on October 8th that discusses what's open during different months of the year. And we have lots of other Swiss videos if you haven't seen them yet:
-Interlaken Cheap & Free Activities (czcams.com/video/ngIH4E_sqo8/video.html)
-Hiking along Lake Brienz to Giessbach Waterfalls (czcams.com/video/uO45Lm0PZnI/video.html)
-Swiss Food Tour (czcams.com/video/-QjPC3asgqM/video.html)
-Jungfraujoch Complete Guide (czcams.com/video/_3f2SebJ6es/video.html)
We hope these help you!!
@@AplinsintheAlps thanks for the tips Jana and Brett! We’re heading there in early Nov too! Super excited 😊
@The D Man would you be there around 9-15 Nov? :)
been there over 20 years ago
Im confused about one thing. once in schilthorn, so there are cable cars going back to murren, or to birg? also once in birg, it didnt include info how to get back to lauterbrunnen. is there a cable car from birg to lauterbrunnen?
It’s all one line of cable cars from Lauterbrunnen to Gimmelwald to Mürren to Birg to Schilthorn!
Are you planning to film the VIa Ferrata at Murren? A lifetime memory for the cost of climbing equipment hire, around 30chf?
Actually we have wanted to do this for 10 years (since we didn’t get the opportunity on our honeymoon) and we finally did it this summer! You’re right, incredible opportunity! And sneak peek: that video will be coming out soon! 🙃
would you still recommend even with the construction?
Right now everything is still open, although some viewpoints may be temporarily closed. So yea, right now we still think it’s okay to go up! But check the Schilthorn website for construction updates before your visit.
Hello, we are staying to Interlaken, how do we get to Scilthorn?
Hi there! This video shows how to get there from Stechelberg. So you'll just need to take a train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen and then the bus from there to Stechelberg. The SBB Mobile app makes navigation really simple!
Hi can I ask if I should book the tickets in advance (1month) or wait till I’m there and book the day before? Thanks!!
Since you want good weather for the Schilthorn (views!), we recommend waiting to book until you’re here. Also, it won’t be jam packed in November so you shouldn’t have a problem ✅
Thanks so much for your reply guys! ☺️ one more - we’re planning to take the Bernina express too, should we book seat reservation in advance now or wait till we’re there?
For brunch at Piz Gloria, what time would you guys suggest we reserved for? ☺️ and should we reserve in advance or can also wait till the day before?
You can reserve the Piz Gloria in advance, but usually a day or two ahead is just fine. We like getting up there early in the morning-if you check out our Mürren Guide (czcams.com/video/y_2f7jse6Jw/video.html), you'll find lots of other suggestions for how to spend a day in the area!
@@AplinsintheAlps wonderful! Thank you for your reply! Great fan and we’ve subscribed to your emailers too. Lovely to read about your story! We also petsit but only in our own country, didn’t know that you could do it overseas! We’re super excited to visit Switzerland in 2 weeks time.
Is this open in April..
And does swiss travel pass covers it?
The Schilthorn is closed from April 24-28, 2023. The Swiss Travel Pass covers you up to Mürren, but you'll have to pay the rest of the way, 42.80 CHF roundtrip. Hope this helps!
@@AplinsintheAlps thanks
How much time should I give myself to get to Piz Gloria from Interlaken? Want to make a reservation but also not get it for a time that I definitely can't make.
Download the SBB Mobile App and enter the navigation from Interlaken to Schilthorn. It will tell you the exact time (and route and platforms etc)!
It will be 1 hr 20 mins - 1 hr 50 mins depending on where you’re staying in Interlaken (Interlaken west or Ost) so we can’t give you an exact answer.
Thank you so much!
@@AplinsintheAlps The Jungfrau Top of Europe pass doesn't cover all the necessary travel, correct?
If you want to see the most popular sites can interlaken be your home base
I am plannings to go September 2023 for 10 days
Hi Alberto! We think Interlaken is a great home base, especially if you plan to travel around the lakes in addition to the mountains. We're working on a video to help travelers choose which village/town to use as their home base-what specific questions do you have that we could maybe answer in that video?
Menos hablar y más paisajes. Un saludo desde Venezuela
How early do you need to head up to the restaurant to eat the breakfast?
Hi there! Breakfast ends at 11:00, so it depends on where you're coming from. Usually the latest table reservation for breakfast (which you can book online) is at 9:30.
@@AplinsintheAlps Thank you, your video is great!
You're welcome!
This isn’t covered by the Berner orbeeland? All rides going up not covered?
Unfortunately none of the passes cover this route above Mürren. But roundtrip to the Schilthorn and back to Mürren is just 42.80 CHF with the Berner Oberland Pass.
@@AplinsintheAlps would it be a waste to visit both Jungfraujoch and Schilthorn? Or is there a sense to go to both or going to either one is already enough?
We think they're very different experiences. But don't feel pressure that either one is an absolute must-see. If you're visiting the area for 4 days or less, maybe just choose one of these spots (because there are so many other amazing places!!)
What month was this video taken?
Hi there! We filmed this toward the end of August.
Video is nice. Bj Slovenia Postojna Studeno
Thank you!
which month was this?
We filmed this in August of 2022!
Can I get up there in winter
Yes! It's closed for maintenance for a few days in late in late April and for 4 weeks from mid-November to mid-December. You can find more info here: schilthorn.ch/en/Infos/Timetable__and__Tariff
Thank you so much for your time guys 😄
My first time to Switzerland next January so spending about 4 days each in Zurich, lucerne, lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Zermatt then glacier express to st Moritz then back to Zurich and fly home. So looking forwards to it and am going through all your vid’s for ideas 👍😀
Awesome, so glad we can help!
It’s down to 60 mins now 😩
What?! No way! Where did you see that?
Berber oberland pass doesn’t cover birg.
No, unfortunately, but it does offer a pretty nice discount.
@@AplinsintheAlps yeah we will stick to the first. Still pretty cloud by during the day for it to be worth it. But it’s so close to Murren kinda have to do it on a clear day.
Thanks for all your videos and guides. We have em all
