I can't tell you what your series does for my mental health. I have to be around positive people and your "can do" attitude is the positivity this world needs!
Seeing people work hard to create/restore something beautiful is so inspiring!
Amen

I totally Agree 👍 💯
In record time, the boards are laid,
A symphony of speed displayed.
From rubble's dust to polished height,
The chateau gleams in newfound light.
Sweet
How poetic, write another 🎉
beautiful poem! thank you
I know one. There once was a man from Nantucket.....🤣
@streetTruckinTitan who worked at a chateau with a bucket
Wish Legos would put out your Chateau in Lego form, with noggins, the lift, the crew, dogs and puppies. Build it floor by floor. Who do I talk to.
That is a great idea, Carolyn! I've done some digging on the Lego website, but since I am Dutch and I don't understand Danish, I only found their company adress:
LEGO System A/S, DK-7190 Billund, Danmark.
Danmark, as in Dan..... 🙂 Good luck with your letter!
Find their patents. Google for their patents online to get a feel.
What a fantastic idea!!!!
I definitely buy one.
@legofrance_official build this kit please
I watch a few French chateau channels - all for the same reason - people just having a go and doing stuff. Making things better, restoring and breathing life into old places. It’s a great way to escape the rest of the noise, fear, doom and misery of the internet and the current state of the world. Thanks for sharing your journey.
How to renovate a chateau is another great channel this and that are my faves
Totally agree 👍
Me too. I have a few. 4 favourites and all SUCH hard workers.
There is something truly noble in leaving things better than you found them
You need to paint the last noggin gold!
And Dan needs to sign it!
@@coolcpa3321 They all need to sign it. For history!
They all do, plus dog paw prints! 🤣
That would be nice
It’s an amazing job you and the otters has done 👍🏻
So glad that Nick had shorts on under the apron
Are you sure??😂
🤭
For Sure
It was a little alarming at first!
It was hilarious 🤣🤣 I was waiting for him to turn around 😄😄 not sure what I was expecting 😂😂
I just realised why I like this - A personable anchor, three characters, a wonderful "set" and and imaginative camera work. It has it all. The "Gone with Wind" of CZcams.
defo!!......but more than that there is love..........................love for each other.....and love of the work.............I remember when Dan began he wondered why on earth anyone would want to watch a builder......and I wondered the same...........but it is so fascinating to see the growth ...........and for me its kind of cathartic to see a good perfect job done .....with love
Honestly, I thought I would've gotten sick of seeing I-beams, joists and noggins. But no, it's pure satifcstion reaching closer to the top. 😮😮😮
Yes, I have gotten bored with some renovations, not so much in France, but in the US where a late 1800's manor house has been found purchased and the owners get side tracked and instead of the house or buildings, it becomes a garden channel or some other aspect and the house drifts into the back ground. Dan has the right mixture and fun. When he laid out his grounds it was fun and the house rebuild was not forgotten. The camera work and editing is amazing. Saskatchewan, Canada
Honestly, at the rate it’s been going I was and may still get bored with the structural stuff. It’s been slow going until just recently. I’m looking forward to the fun stuff like the decorative finishes, wall finishes, other decorations. That’s when I get excited. Knowing Dan it’ll be completely different and unexpected. Because he’s just not a posh guy. Which is 👍🏼. But that’s a long way off. I really like Dan and his wry sense of humor which doesn’t come out as much as it should. When Stephanie visits the pair of them sparkle ✨! They rub each other the right way for the viewers anyway. And I know he’s going to ask her for some ideas about the finishing stuff. At least I’m hoping he does.
@@ronniemensch2400 This bit is fine and so are the roof and stairs. But when it comes to plaster, and timber finishings, doors and windows, there is a lot of detail work in that, but showing all of it will be a challenge for viewers.
Dan may need to get creative with his content to keep viewers interested
Lol it's hilarious how he's got more energy to do an entire mansard roof from scratch than he does a measiy brick arch 🤣🤣😆😆
Yeah no doubt lol
With Brian a professional builder the new stuff far less daunting to support the attic arched mansard roof ,so much perished pointing and brickwork to reinstate before the steels to the highest floor in the building ,then just the half dozen bathroom floors to put back.
I know the feeling. Painting ceilings is what I avoid.
Off you go, help out with the arches !
Unbelievable progress for a team of just 4 people. Well done chaps.
No not really just 4 builders can build a house start to finish if they are multitrade
When all is said and done, I recommend building a shrine to that red lifter somewhere out in the garden. It deserves it.
With a drill handle😂😂😂
Dan you better hang on to these guys they are poetry in motion when it comes working in unison partnering up when the need arises. So much progress in these 3 weeks its amazing what's been accomplished!
The recommendation of a calendar is clearly sinking in … Nick for the win.
In that apron!! It's a must😂
I’d buy a calendar! 😂
That's what I thought
Not just a calendar, a full size Nick poster.....❤
Puppies and beefcake oh my
I have been glued to your channel, anticipating the day the lights are on and the water running.
I'd like to raise a toast to the nogtasticness and beamin brilliance of almost having this step in the rebuild completed. *raises glass of eggnog*
I don't wish to over share, and I bet most of the subscribers to this channel would act as I am, but I was in surgery this morning, and I was released and am now in my bed, and the first order of business was to see what Dan has been up to today. LOL. I will make this declaration. Most You Tube videos are too long. They take 20 minutes to make a 5 minute point. Not Dan's chateau channel. I'm always left with wanting more, but hey your videos are pure gold. I also like that viewers are from all over the globe. My best to you and the guys, the kids & family, the dogs & the new pups . Cheers
Best wishes on a speedy recovery from your surgery ❤
Wishing you a good and speedy recovery!
I used to look forward to the weekend cause I hated work during the week. Now, I can't wait for the weekend to be over so I can watch Dan and crew again.
I’ve been watching older Dan ( reruns) videos.
Such a different prospect knowing all the progress that’s been accomplished.
Growing by 1K subs a day... One of the best channels on YT.
Amen!! However, I fear Dan is losing his crew very soon...😢
True, but what amazing accomplishment. What magnificent restoration done in these weeks is incredible!
Thank you, Team Dan!
Birds singing in this video:
Common redstart
Chiffchaff
European robin
Common blackbird
Blackcap
Thank you! I've been wondering, especially since my windows are open and local birds in Seattle have been chirping back when they hear French chatter. ;) I can't tell if my North American birds are Black-capped chickadees or song sparrows.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us Dan. Each new episode makes me look forward to the next. Soon no more noggins, no more floors to put in. A bit of brick work still to do, a few steel beams left to set in place, and soon the last of the roofing. You went from a burnt-out shell to an amazing Chateau taking shape before our eyes! Amazing progress! Love seeing the rooms take shape and grow in a beautiful Chateau! Just love it!!!
It’s been amazing watching the somewhat symbiotic r-ship between Dan and the Chateau. . . can actually see his joyous spirit transform him and the building gets better and better… really have never witnessed step by step anything like it! WAY TO GO , DAN ❤❤❤❤
Who agrees we need longer video's even of boring stuff! I do home health care and I got my client hooked as well. We watch together. Love you guys! We get excited for you!
@@quercus8833 I need a little Pupdate...The men are so cute but the puppies are adorable. :)
I was thinking the same. Then realized it was hours and hours of work, how much more could they do to make that progress. All condensed into a few minutes. That's art initself really.
Not working more but cutting the video that it's more than 9 minutes. He could show normal speed instead of timelapse for example or show some prep work, etc. etc.
@@quercus8833
I just rewatch it.🤣
If you think about it, Dan puts out roughly 40 minutes of content each week, that's a hell of a lot more than most people do in six months
He is the only British château restaurateur " who took on such a horrendous task and has achieved so much in a short time span. A lucky bloke to such good friends that make a really good team together. Nice to see the bloke in orange back on the restoration site again. Bravo ! 👍👍
When men come together to get things done, its brilliant. Well done.
Getting it dried in before Christmas will be a great achievment. That's complete roof all around. Windows too.
He will do it
.😊
Yes absolutely water tight for xmas. Watching from Canada. Ive built stuff but this guy takes the cake!!
looks so different. it's gone from a shell of a building to an actual potential living space. amazing
When the roof keeps rain out, then I think it qualifies as potential livingspace.
@@cindygarrison6338 Cindy floors help, which is what they're currently putting in. But I take your point.
legendary crew that put a ruined chateau back that no professional company dared to touch. you lot will be famous, hey mayor you watchin' all of this?
I enjoy watching this restoration for many of the same reasons stated by others, but it's the only channel where I also enjoy reading the comments of viewers from around the world. There are observations and tips from construction experts; many viewers who cheer on the progress; pleas to see more of the puppies; and a few who clearly enjoy just seeing men at work. I'm here in Maine, USA in awe over all that is being done to see this vision come to life!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us Dan. You are indeed a tonic that many of us need and I love seeing all the team work together, I cannot believe you have all done so much in 3 week. You’ll get those dreaded arches sorted in no time, no more moaning from Nick 😂. Have a wonderful weekend with your gorgeous boys and puppies. Much love K🇬🇧❤️❤️
WOW that was SOOO slick watching the beams and noggins going in; poetry in motion, gentlemen! You must be (should be) proud of yourselves. What a day! :-)
OMG, Dan.....on the balcony ...NO WAY .
what an achievement.
Well done .....everyone.
Oh Dan! Its been so fantastic to see you and your great crew of guys rip through getting the new floors in. I expect by fall, you will get the chateau water tight and will be working on windows soon.
This old lady cancer patient has loved every part of your journey. Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful journey to watch!
Best wishes for your journey and prayers for your speedy recovery! We are all family here and you have many friends. I, for one, know that you are special!
I'm looking forward to Dan rebuilding the grand staircase. That is going to be a beauty. Hopefully in some gorgeous type of wood.
I'm thinking some of the amazing steel design that was first exhibited at the Crystal Palace or was it the Grand Palais from which one of the balconies has come from.
I have identified and completed many more projects around my house since I started watching your series. The example you set is quite motivating. I look forward to your reaching the point where you invite volunteers to assist. I need a vacation to France, and would enjoy spending a few days sweeping floors and cleaning up debris at the chateau.
No kidding, it motivates to keep working on grandpas house, to make it up to date and nice to live in.
I would love to be there in person with these beautiful and positive people...helping however I can. Send for me!
Me too. I can sweep
I have been laying on my bed watching videos frequently which I do not normally do...but thank you. You really make it look enjoyable!
Me Too!!! That team is a tough act to follow!
2:14 Thanks Nic!! You are January!! 2:34 "That's a calendar page right there!" Love the comradarie and knowing you're reading the comments!! Who's February? What a hoot you all are!!
Wow, you guys are really flying now. It's amazing to see these rooms take shape again. I cant imagine the charge of energy you're getting after every milestone you reach.
What a beautiful moment, and what a view! The chateau is quickly becoming not a gaping hole open to the sky, but a place for a proper game of hide-and-seek...
The video makes it look easy but we all know it’s hard work. Labors of love guys, well done ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m semi retired nurse with long Covid and other bits and bobs, looking after my ill wife and running around for my elderly parents and mother in law, so I don’t have time to scratch ones behind or do anything for me, my plan was to retire to France and do a renovation, obviously not to rebuilding Rome like you are but sadly now I’m stuck here in the UK, just to let you know it’s been a nice diversion watching you rebuild that chateaux an amazing legacy for the locals history and you and your children. Cheers chaps/kids and puppies.
Your sacrifice will not go unnoticed. Thank you for your moral character 👍
I'm really invested in the work you're doing!
But also... A++ in video editing. This channel is so watchable, and that's down to the easy-to-follow flow. I never get bored and always understand what's happening, despite my lack of any knowledge about building.
Excactly
Always great story, fotografy, edit and sound !
I heard "theres a calendar page right there"
Ohhh yeahhhh.... I'd buy one, Dan!!
That lifter is an incredible piece of equipment.
Someone should suggest putting a drill on the winder, haha.😊😊
@@jeanrichardson2044they have, and Dan addressed that in a previous video. There are safety mechanisms on the winder that would make that impractical.
@@kmw4359 thank you, I know that, didn't you hear Dan making a joke about it in the video today? It is an amazing piece of equipment.
@@kmw4359 It was a joke!
@@jeanrichardson2044 no, missed that
The nail gun is such a time saver. Remarkable progress. CONGRATULATIONS
Nick works hard as the youngest!! Nick forever!
Nick looks like a Viking boat builder who is channeling Josephine Baker with the bananas. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's a Dolmen (Neolithic Megalith [New Stone Age Big Stone ]) on the Chateau property. Recent archeology suggests that a better name for that era would be Xylo (Greek for "Wood") Period, because woodcraft seems to have exploded at the time. My thought was that Nick looked like he had just stepped out of the Dolmen.
It’s such a breath of fresh air to see people working and getting stuff done without the disease of the HSE Police thwarting progress at every turn, slowing the job down, pissing off customers and adding huge costs to a project…..and spreading joy and happiness wherever they go.
Looking so different in a good way
Agree
It’s so exciting to see all the floors going in so quickly. As soon as this one started I thought - oops, he’s going to have to do the neglected brick work now! Beautiful!
Maybe Dan could afford to hire a bricklayer now? I want to see the roofs done and the windows put in asap!
Now, when you are going to build that second arch, I can finally watch you doing it without having a heart attack because of hight anxiety.
Amazing how fast this is going. A year ago, I was convinced I would be watching you for at least 5 years to get to this point. But now it looks like you might have a water proof house with windows and doors before the end of the year.
What a great journey this is.
Monday? When the bricks arrive? One wonders if the good weather will hold ;)
Dunno, there's another two roofs to go dangling on climbing ropes. Eek.
What a journey!
What a treasure trove of architrave detail and profiles for the windows the last floor has been. I love how many windows the rooms have to bring the light into the interiors. It is a joy to see happen.
I’m living to see Nick and noggins. What has my life come to. Great job and balcony moment, Dan.
I’m in Florida at Disney…in the pool, strick up a conversation with a couple from North Carolina and we both watch Dan! How about that!!!
Dan’s fans are global!
Nick SHOULD have a room in this chateau!
Hmmm…sweat equity!
There should be a Nick Suite, in any case, right? With a Forest Garden motif. Yeah, I've been pondering this, same as many of us. ;)
A suite...
He's getting paid for his endeavours.
@@PreservationEnthusiast Maybe he’d like both forms of payment.
Dan I'm so proud of everything you have accomplished & the guys, what a great job they have done helping you the last 2 weeks. I never thought in a million years you would ever get this far with the Chateau without it just collapsing into itself, what a proud day it must be for you. Kathy USA
It took some doing, knotting the sheets and shimmying over the balcony. Gulp! (I myself am not too good with heights let alone dodgy climbing equipment.) Respect to the former lady of the house.👍
Super men are at work performing these unbelievable task rebuilding the chateau.
Well done, guys an excellent job
Dan, you are a gorgeous ,amazing man, but promise when all these great men leave , as I expect they will have too, that you give yourself a well deserved holiday. You are looking a bit tired and we must keep you calendar ready lol🤗
I think your name should be Dan Quixote. That is quite a windmill
la différence et belle: donquichotte se battait contre les moulins mais Dan quichotte se bat pour un château. 👍👍
the opposite!
If I am this excited, I can only imagine how excited you must be. Congratulations on keeping up such a rapid pace!
If you keep the team together, abide waiting for materials, the exterior of the chateau would be completed by October. Team Noggins is incredible.
How do you make such fabulous videos every day? A professional video person? Truly!
Dan does them himself….he took online courses
Dan! you are officially dubbed ”The Nogginator”. Cue moviescore.. :)
I caught the humor in Dan’s quip about taking the handle off the lift and putting a drill on it to go faster. Ha ha ha! I wish I had a dollar for every time that suggestion was made. Dan explained why it is not safe/possible to do that so hearing him bring it up was funny.
I watch tons of chateau, castle, homes but yours is the most beautiful I’m soooo glad you’re bringing it back to life! The brick work of the structure, windows, doors, arches and views are outstanding beauty. So many chateaus are boxes plain exteriors and windows yours is grand on all levels! I had just seen a home where they actually left one wall in each room as is: brick/ plaster/ exposing the ruble ( as we see yours now) they stained plaster beautiful colors strips of old wallpaper it was magnificent the other walls in each room were done with new plastering it was so neat to see it that way. Can’t wait to see what you do! 👍❤️
You have all achieved so much in such a small amount of time. You should all feel so proud of yourselves!
Fantastic job! ❤
😯 ohhh Nick is not "just" handyman....he will look great in a kitchen with that apron...😍. good weekend 😁👍
🎉
I'm smiling. It's just amazing how putting that floor in, makes that a room. And they are nice size rooms. You are going to have one of the most beautiful Chateau's in France.
A huge achievement Dan you should feel very very proud of what you and the other boys have done to restore this Chateau..see you Monday 😊
Men!
Hiya Dan. 🙋🏻♀️, Nick, Brian & Calvin.... exciting landmark days...all the floors in....wowow
I love when your video drops and I stop doing work altogether so I can watch
I find it quite humorous that you're trolling all those that said "use your impact driver to wind the lifter" : )
So happy for you, Dan, that you finally got to stand on that balcony! Celebration!🎉 The vlogs over the last few weeks have been beyond exciting😊
You guys have your floor chops at maximum. It's looking so amazing and coming back to life! Wonderful to have that moment where you all stood back and admired your handy work thus far. Must feel spectaular :)
That is an achievement. To think back when you started with few tools, so much by hand, carrying pieces up a ladder, one at a time. How long did it take you to do one floor? And look at how long it has taken to do the rest. Top floor done next week. Then if you still have help, you could have the entire roof finished by the end of the month. Certainly by the end of July. The. You only have the tower floors and roof to go. At least by September. Get the windows at least temporarily weather tight and the chateau will be weather tight for Christmas. Not as cozy as the yurt but a year from now you could be living in the chateau, albeit more like camping.
I love the layout of that balcony level and I hope you restore the rooms to their original purpose. And entire floor as an owner’s en suite. Luxurious.
I just love this little jewel of a chateau. If is the perfect size.
Good job getting the rest of the floors in Dan and crew. The chateau is trulyu coming back to life, and you should be very proud. To have actual rooms must be so gratifing for you Dan.
Love the plants on the mantle of the fireplace 😂
Interior decor has begun….lol
I love how you speed up the video but keep the sound at normal time. With a hint of sped up sound in the background. It's awesome!
So glad you said this. I’ve been wanting to say same.
Watching you work with such an efficient team makes me believe in the power of man. No wonder there are such great monuments around the world. You are a perfect example of what men can accomplish when they are organized and are not afraid of hard work. It is no wonder why you have been able to attract so many subscribers. You are all marvelous to watch. Just wonderful!!!!!!
Lightning fast with the tools and the friends to help with the work. Congratulations on getting to this point so quickly! That roof will be on in no time! And the windows hopefully before it gets snowing again. At this rate, you might be inside by Christmas! Wouldn't that be astounding!??!! I'm so happy for you Dan!

Hope the calendar project comes to fruition!
Soon it’ll be roof, doors and windows well before winter! I foresee a glorious Christmas party in the chateaux!
That won't be this Christmas lol
All the wiring and plumbing, the floors, insulation, inspections. Its at least 2-3 years out from being "done" :/
@@Ceberox do you not remember the first Christmas dinner here it was fab and there was no roof only just the beginning. This year will be magical. The chateaux will see many Christmases in its new lifetime, but the ones that mark a chapter are the ones that make the story. This year is one of those chapters
"Just a one man NOGGIN factory sometimes in this place" 🤣 This was a NOGGIN extravaganza episode! Incredible where you guys have come in just 3 weeks. It is still early June so you should be on your way to get a roof completely on before the weather gets too rough in fall. Amazing, just amazing! Bravo!
It's amazing to see how far the Chateau has come already.
