At that place, they treated us like total shit. It is a level 1 facility, which means everyone housed there is near the end of their sentence and is due to be released soon. They provided very few programs to help with life skills. I've been out of there for over 10 years, and it hasn't changed a bit.
I don't think "state prison" can be private property by definition. The state cannot own private property. Private property is like, by definition, not owned by the government.
Problem is that in the USA we have a privatized, for profit prison system. So regardless of how wrong it is, it's private property.

Any reasonable person when you told them you were on the easement would have taken a minute to check and see if that was correct. Law enforcement of any kind however just aren't intelligent enough to reason anything out. They have had free reign for so long they become confused when a citizen stands up to them.

They are prison guards they are not law enforcement they're jurisdiction end at the gate they can't detain anybody only on the prison grounds that's where the buck stops!

On a sober note...folks do not go to federal prisons because they are "nice men doing bad things". They are multiple-crime repeaters, by and large. They hurt, and kill law-abiding citizens, and forever, ruin innocent peoples' lives. I once visited Soledad State Prison and saw them for myself...quite an experience. Thanks. PS....for those who appease lawless behavior, take a look from the other side before you make blanket judgements about the criminal-justice system. thanks. Darrell Borland, on a more sober note, there are people in prison who are innocent of any crime and especially the Federal Prison system is filled with a lot of white color criminals and those who are guilty only of procedureal lapses than true crimes. And yes, I have visited state prisons and seen some of the truly violent criminals many of whom deserved the death penalty over life in prison.
Who here is appeasing lawless behavior? I would say by pointing out the other side of the coin, AND making blanket judgements (about the prisoners), one could say that you might be appeasing the lawless behavior of the prison guards.

After a lie (such as this guy's very first sentence) I'd suggest don't just let them move on to other things. For example, you can say: "Your statement about X was a lie. You need to apologise for that first. Otherwise this conversation is over already."
