- No one likes waiting a long time to shoot powerful shots for an Archer. With this build, you won't have to! Power Shots Archer gives you 4 different powerful shots, buffs and utility to make even your normal shots hard hitting!
Coming soon builds for Dual Dagger Rogue, class specializations and more!
This guide focuses on how to build your class using the first 10 points. These builds can be used of course for your main character, but have also been designed to be just as viable for use with your AI teammates.
Your Archer starting abilities are Stealth and Long Shot. The following are the abilities, in order to get
First Blood /
Explosive Shot /
Easy to Miss /
Poisoned Weapons /
Infected Wounds (Skill Upgrade) /
Pincushion /
Full Draw /
Death From Above /
Leaping Shot /
Rolling Draw (Skill Upgrade)
In short, this build is provides a large number of active skills, giving the archer more options than just waiting for cooldowns half the fight. With Infected Wounds and other passives, even the normal shots in between the power shot skills will hit for significantly bigger damage than normal, unbuffed shots.

thanks for making these class builds vids, i suck at utilizing the skill tree, these helps me with ideas
A new dragon age video just when I was in the mode for it... Gj sire, I tip my hat for you.
thanks man, really helped me chose between archer and dual dagger
Honestly, I found the strafing shots to be very useful. It allows you to easily move away from melee attacks or side to side to dodge arrows while still dealing damage. And it makes the class more fun to play in my opinion.
Its great for a main but the AI rarely strafes for me so I put points in other places
Robbie Dixon Fair enough.
KineticGTR, you build videos are excellent. Thank you very much for creating them.
used this build for my character, loving it for sure!
Thanks for the awesome build.

Subscribed! Love the vids.
The setup is great.
Great video!
This really helped me nice vid !
OMG! That is awesome. I like class build i used it.. but i also added or added skill point " easy to miss" due to the fact when u need help closing or disrupting the rift. helps u stay away from the mess so u can weaken the targets before u jump into the fray....
My archer build can take out mobs pretty quickly! My main focus early was just mastering the bow category. All skills and passives.
Awesome video I'm still debating on which class I should use I love both bow and sword so this id gonna be tricky.
You want the most broken build in the game? Reaver with enhanced barrier amulet and a weapon with guard generation. (By the way the barrier amulet lies it's how much damage YOU do, not the damage you take) so a massive hit fully generates Barrier and under the barrier your strikes generate another layer of guard. Then when your low on health use devour.
Not sure if you're reading the skills descriptions in all of these vids to fill time but after the second time you prob didn't need to. Almost every1 watching this series has the game, or they can pause. Just a thought...Excellent series and gameplay, thanks so much!
good job man, you deserve more subs
good call, i think i will sub, he does deserve it
I play as a bowmen in the game and I find evade to be pretty handy if you want to be an archer and still move around a lot.
Lol was watching for any extra tips, but the party banter at the end has me dieing of laughter 😂 never gotten my guys to say that lol
This is pretty much the build I use paired with the Tempest specialization. You can smash the fire flask which makes it so your abilities don't use stamina, and with the upgrade your abilities don't have a cool down either. You get 5 seconds of rapid fire longshot or explosive arrow which does a buttload of damage.
Are there any guides or tips on finding good bows? Would like to find a blue or purple one soon...
Nice video. I like the setup, very useful for hunting animals since you can one shot the rams them before they knew what hit em. Later
Hey I love rogue archers with every game I can have them but what do you think is the best rogue archer to play with ? I haven't started yet
By FAR, the best archer build I found in DA2 completely ignored the archer tree and focused on passive and sustained abilities along with filling out the Assassin tree. However, with this game having no sustained abilites and less control over our attribuites (stacking them with ridiculous amounts of cunning for crazy crit damage), the archery tree makes a lot of sense (plus the basic attack was much more devastating in DA2. Made the activated abilites kind of moot). Thanks for making this video. I was on the right track but you've given me more ideas. :)
Oh...and....subscribed!
I played archer with sabotage (I think, the one with poisons) and it was fun. Jumping to enemy and then away from them sometimes instakilling them
I usually start the game playing a human and go straight down the left side of the archer tree for the mobility with the passive and leaping shot plus the extra damage with full draw. Then I go for upgraded leaping shots and poisoned weapons + upgrade.
Awesome guides! Question about Rolling Draw: Does the 200% bonus damage apply to Leaping Shot? Or to your next damage dealing ability? You could do Leaping shot --> go into stealth for even more extra damage and do a Full draw / Long shot!
sadly ive found the 200% damage boost only affects next normal shot, not abilities. atleast it didnt for full draw.
Might say after completing these more which you suggest and which would add to the specialization, or you could make a video with the skills to specialization
Whats more important for this build, the extra ability point of the human or the extra 25% ranged defense of the elf?
do you have vids for upgrading modifying weapons and armor?
Personally I liked Dragon Age 2 powers more because they had better overall synergies with each other. On the other hand, Inquisition also has some pretty neat abilities that have never been seen before and definitely cooler effects. Yes, you can have some sweet synergies in this game as well but I think 2nd installation had even better compared to 3rd.
When it comes to elementalist mage like my character is, I recommend Static Cage ability in the electricity tree as it will create an area and keep pulling enemies in the middle of it as long as it stands there. Then get the first fire ability on the right that does AoE fire explosion to create massive AoE damage to a group of enemies. If you have an archer with you, he or she can also use that Toxic Cloud ability from sabotage tree to further the DPS on that group of enemies. Definitely handy.
If i want to constantly use these abilities (so i basically want as much stamina as possible), what build or specialization can i use best? I dont want to be limited by stamina :3
if i choose a duel wield rogue at the start of the game an i like more the archer will it till do the same damage even do i choose duel wield
Kinetic you should make an online walkthrough Zero to Hero ;)
I am running a dual dagger rogue would first blood only work on the bow or could it be utilized with a dagger?
how do i know i would get power shot? do you mean if your character shot produce blue ring like waves after u shot??
That Bow looks nice, is it crafted or?
I want to know how to get all the steads in the game
Question. Can you set the aiming to free aim. I don't want to auto aim. Takes away the fun of bow and arrow.
I appreciated and "liked" the vid, but I noticed you weren't really fighting all that efficiently in that last larger swamp lizard fight. Since you get the 100% aggro reduction and bonus flanking damage from some many skills/gear, wouldn't it be best to reuse shadow and move to a flank position, poison up if its available and come out with the best big shot that is available as well. I know everything isn't instantly available at the same time but does it make more sense to save up for the perfect 3 or 4 skill combo and then just do the little pew-pews in between to maximize damage?
I disagree and "disliked" your comment because it annoyed me
Does Varric need stealth?
How would this build work with tempest
THXS MAN IT WORKS MY NIGGA YOU ROCK
Do you even need to use the specialisation tree ?
I went for a max full draw damage set for my level 9 sera. I go into stealth, use full draw, and the fight begins with the strongest enemy already gone.
Try doing mark of death then that combo ull be downing bosses quick
What is the name of this particular song?
what about the 11th point?
KineticGTR Hey Kinetic, do you know if the Artificer passives (like a party wide dmg/crit bonus) stack if you use it both on your own character and Varric?
That's a really good question. To know the answer to that, I'd have to have an Archer for a main, which I don't. But I would know how to tell. If you go to Character record, and look at the attributes, it would say there I think.
Yeah I think the concept is the same for most buffs though. Same with two templars for example. +20% resistance is very strong as well. Have you ever tried two warriors with Battlehorn though? If those buffs not stack, I'm not sure the passive party buffs do so either.
How do you get Solas to target his Barrier on the melee characters? Set him to Follow/Blackwall/other Melee Character?
you press T, everybattle that requires a good strat, select him then use the skill in area you in it. The point of this isnt to just let them be, Mage and Rogues normally die controlled by AI if you dont look for em.
what I don't get is why people keep asking which class is best when u can switch between each character in battle whenever u want which is switchin classes?
u cant have them all at battle the same time. theres 3 different mage skill trees, two handed and weapon and shield warriors, archer and double dagger rouges plus all the unique skill trees u unlock for the companions in the half way of the game. your own character, the inquisitor is the only one thats always there. thats why its important u choose the right class for the inquisitor.
I never knew this lol my main character I chose archer with double swords but I never use swords alllways a bow and I have a mage that heals and shields me and a 2 handed warrior women and a little dwarf guy that has a crossbow. ive played quit a while with them cuz ive goten them to level 9
every other companion gets the level too, whether u take them to battles or not. i havent used Solas since level 8 (im 15 now) but he has leveled up just like all the other companions. which i think is good, otherwise someone u dont use much could get really underleveled to certain areas
What bow is that and where can I get it?
What difficulty do you play on?
how do I get sera? plz tell me :P
Just out of curiosity why don't you take arrow lance? Yeah it's kinda situational but if all the intended targets are bunched up you can probably cripple a good deal of mobs especially with assassin specialization. It's actually quite ridiculous with the free stealth and stamina combo.
What's your favourite build so far ?
Hard to say. They're all quite interesting in their own way. I've always leaned toward heavy melee classes so tank and 2H are a lot of fun :)
During that last fight, I noticed you were healing yourself a considerable amount of times. What skill did that? Cause I heard there aren't any healing spells in DA:I and I didnt see a healing potion go off.
The AI is using potions
LOL!! 8:02 what did he just say?!
This good for Varrid maybe...
i get 12500 long shot damage hits ,plus my character gets almost a 1000 critical hit damage of base hits
What about after that level? what do you take next?
Check the playlist, there are a few videos for specializations after this :) czcams.com/play/PLSKvsoulJB_YcZ5jCluYBROTflVv9uffH.html
can you go over tactics and behavior?
I don't change behaviors, and very few tactics get adjusted. Something like poison, a buff skill, I put that on preferred for sure to encourage the AI to use it as much as possible.
hello, can i do this skills with the AI characters?
Yes, all my builds are ok for AI companions :)
make the rogue dagges guide !
What specialization would you recommend from here? Assassin?
Assassin is better for Daggers. Artificer has better active and passive abilities that will compliment this build, including the only cooldown reduction (outside of gear) I can find for an Archer.
KineticGTR Artificer is the worst of the 3 specs for archer (for anything tbh, it's completely useless). With assassin you get pretty much perma stealth since the CD will constantly reset, guaranteed crits out of stealth. Hidden blades is just sick and yes, it works with bows. So you basically have stealth-skill-crit-kill-stealth again, repeat. And for tough enemies Mark of Death. Assassin archers just deal stupid amount of dmg. Tempest is probably even more OP, I just don't like how it plays. But it is completely broken. For starter flask of fire+thousand cuts = doesn't consume focus, doesn't use the CD of the focus skill. So you basically get 2 of these for 11400% dmg each, one for free. And this thing pretty much one shots dragons. And yes, works with bows too. Flask of lightning is also useful since it pretty much makes you unkillable. So it's just a matter of personal preference, by what I tested with both specs they're completely broken. I personally went with assassin for my inquisitor since I already run with Sera in the party and she's tempest. Needless to say that with both assassin archer and tempest archer in the party there's no point of playing the game on anything lower than hard difficulty because it gets boring. They just melt everything so fast, it's just stupid... I tried the artificier too and it's so pointless, so useless compared to the other two specs, it's just sad. Don't go artificer. You'll regret it.
***** If by worst you mean not ridiculously overpowered, yes, Artificer could be considered the "worst". No offense to what you're talking about, and I've read this before, but I don't play builds that are overpowered. I might as well just turn the difficulty to casual and do nothing with builds like those. I like challenge. :)
It's still challenging, you don't need to abuse the no focus/no cd for the focus skill. I'm pretty sure it's a bug and will be patched. Besides the tempest way doesn't feel right for an archer. If I wanted a mage, I would've played a mage. But the synergies are still good for an archer even if you don't abuse thousand cuts.
And same goes for assassin. It just works great with archer. And it feels more like a rogue with all the stealth sneaking and attacking from the shadows.
And by worst I don't only mean that artificer has the worst synergies for... everything, it's completely useless. It just shouldn't exist. It doesn't make the game more challenging, just makes it annoying since you got something that is useless. Even if you consider tempest and assassin to be OP and broken, you can at least take a useful spec. Fine, don't use it, go full archery/sabotage/subterfuge, you just don't put points in assassin or tempest but at least you have the option to. And you can always switch to melee if you want later on because they're awesome for melee too, while artificer is just plain useless for everything.
***** Ah! I was going to say maybe its a bug and it might get patched, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. I just know that Hail of Arrows and Opportunity Knocks sound like great skills and hardly sound useless to me. Being able to double your skill damage, plus cooldown reduction from the whole partys collective crits. Aside from that, the others like Spike Trap, Fallback Plan, and Elemental Mines sound more situational skills. Either way, I will talk about these specializations in a future video. Thanks for the feedback.
Should I go archer or dual wield. Archer looks strong and fun, but dual wield look so bad ass and strong too?! Which one should I play??
dual dagger is pretty underpowered later in the game, so i would recommend archer. but remember that u can respec your skills so its worthy to try them both :)
erkki542 thx man. Guess I'm rolling with Archer
Personally not a big fan of Easy to Miss. If you're keeping up on gear and you're opening up with Full Draw on a squishy target (which you should), they're going to be dead before they get back up.
Is there a way that I can respect?
u mean respec your skills? or just respect the video :D:D
I don't own Dragon Age:Inquisition yet but I'm planning to use archer but this is also my first Dragon Age game should I still use an Archer?
Meh in all honesty its pretty slow.
CrazyPee2012 Ok who do you think I should use if this is my first Dragon Age game?
mage or archer will be a bit easier to play assuming you have a companion to tank for you.
lendial Do you get a companion early on in the Game or?....
You get most of your companions at the start of the game or near it. no worries.
May I ask : where can I get Deft hands ability????
You mean for lock picking? That's a Inquisition Perk you unlock in the War Room. You can find it in the Secrets section. You will need to have 4 points invested there. The shortcut to this, is to recruit Agents around explorable areas who are trained in Secrets. This will give you a point for each agent, making it easier to save your perk points for other perks you'd rather spend points on.
KineticGTR thx for the tips, do you have any example or video for this? I dunno when i recruit a Agent, what it really does o.o
Alex Wu I'll see what I can do. I've been thinking of making a video about this for some time now.
I'm torn between an archer and a mage. Anyone have opinions?
Do a bit of research of who you will mostly party up with throughout the game and the class specializations, then build you character to fill in the blank
To keep things interesting I will let the AI play my main rogue and take turns playing on some of the other characters. It keeps it interesting and allows me enjoy all the classes without having to start over.
Anyone played dragons dogma? I was hoping archers would be beast in this game compared to dogma. ]:
I'm played it... Dragon dogma is the best game ever :D
@@devan2718 agree
You don't use the Mark??
IAMWAVEY KAHUNA there are a lot better skills than mark of the rift
Pioneer Spongebob lol true but every skill has a few skills thats are better...The Mark of the rift doesn't suck and I personally find it useful hbu??
is Archer fun
Yes, and later on you can do 13k damage, and you can move while shooting
the game does look alot smoother and better on Xbox than PS4. Any thoughts?
This is PC, just in case you're confused with the hud.
KineticGTR playing on ps4 with almost the same ui hud. but action is alot less smoother lo.
Ahahaahah what an idiot
KineticGTR How could it be PC, it has the UI of a console. With the "A,B,X,Y" feature. Unless i'm missing something. Shouldn't the PC have a mouse cursor on it.
Zemo Gray Many of us play on PC with either Xbox or PS controllers, you get the buttons like that then as well
No melee archer ability! NOOOO!!! Oh well.
Looks pretty boring, I think I'm gonna go with the dual dagger rogue.
there are a couple ways i found to be effective... You probably want to play human. Being elf or horndudes is the next best thing because of nice and race-required armor or helms.
you can go for lost of hits and put procs on your gear (things like 1% life per hit and 10% chance to [ability] work well). This spec works okay (not great) with the potions specialization tree.
you can do for high single target damage from stealth with resource gain on kill.. works great in multiplayer but it doesnt work well on dragons (requires assassin spec to be effective on normal-hard, forget nightmare).
Or you can go for utility through the traps spec, which is only good if you play nightmare or love to plan out your fights.
Elliott Bohringer Thanks, I was planning on being a Human Dual Dagger rogue when I get the game. Question, I really want a challenging experience but I also want to play the game without using the tactical view as much as possible, I just don't find stopping the fight to be fun. Would I get away with fighting actively while on hard mode or would I need to stick with normal?
Massive Douche You should be ok to fight on Hard without much tactical view use.
KineticGTR Awesome, thanks.
DD rogue is super boring after a while. Wishing I did something else.
Archer looks quite a bit boring...
