Oh sweetie! I knew this one would hit you so hard, like it had all of us. It really sheds light on why his reactions to Martha are what they are. He’s incredibly brave for making a one-man show about all of these experiences, and then the Netflix show. He really does a good job of portraying very honestly where he didn’t make good choices for himself, and exploring through his narration exactly what his internal conflicts were. It all feels very honest.
Some therapists are doing great breakdowns of what’s being portrayed in the series-highly recommend checking them out.

@@laidareacts I like the ones from
Pride Therapy (she’s watched the full season) and Doctor Elliott (though he’s only two episodes in)-both offer queer perspectives-as well as Denise Brady, The Shani Project, and Therapist in Seattle

@@laidareacts I found it a bit integrating to watch these reactions as the show is understandably and intentionally disturbing-accurate to how his actually experiences were, and having some empathetic therapists hold the space for and interpret the rawness of what we are witnessing was extremely helpful for me. Especially since some reactors are full of “I’d have left! I’d have beat her/him! Etc…”
I hope it’s helpful for you too! The rest of the season remains raw, but the worst direct trauma depictions are over-what remains is picking up the pieces and some still confusing-for-some choices. I hope that’s not too much of a spoiler for you, but I felt like it would be good to tell you that the most explicit trauma depictions mostly happened in episode 4. There’s still plenty of mess and confusion, in the aftermath, but nothing as terrible to witness as what’s already passed.

I’m sorry to tell u this but the sexual abuse actually happened in real life too. It’s very sad and I can’t imagine how it was for him to kinda re-live this for the series. Good reaction video btw

thank you for letting me know, and for your kind feeback! that’s so sad, really! I have such a whole new lever of admiration for this man, until now I admired his talent, but I admire his strength and courage! like you said, he endured all that and yet he had the strength to relive them through writing and acting! seriously, it’s breathtaking!
