  • After living this North Carolina for the last 10 years we reveal why we move to the DMV, Arlington VA to be exact. If you watched our popular videos Pros and Cons of North Carolina and Pros and Cons of DC, check this one out to get our final destination.
We give the reasons why we choose the DMV, Arlington for our new home after living in North Carolina.
    1. Opportunity with many companies in the growing area.
2.Friends and Family here already in the DC Area
    3. Endless Activities mostly free in the DMV
We also talk about the cost of living and how it compares to the cost of living in North Carolina.

Wow this is amazing! My husband got a job in DC 2 years ago and we moved to Maryland from NC (born and raised). Before we moved here, I watched the Pros and Cons video yall did in Center City with your daughter and it helped ease my anxiety a lot about coming here. Now, I work in DC too and LOVEEEEE it here, your video helped more than you’ll know and introduced me to yall! Keep up the Pros and Cons video, I enjoy them and they are helpful!! Thank y’all for all that you do!!!!!

Hello, what did you and your husband find the most difficult to adjust to when y’all moved to DC. we will be coming from south florida and welcome the blackness of DC and the surrounding area. Are either one of you working with the federal government?

    • @HeathandTracyTV
      @HeathandTracyTV  Před 3 lety

Not Federal employees but we have some friends that are. Tracy is from South Florida, and I’m (Heath) from Atlanta. We went to Howard and our daughters were already here because of Howard. Easy adjustment for us. The weather may be an adjustment if you’re not accustomed to 🥶 winters. Clothes, boots, things for your car, salt for the driveway maybe. Outside of that stuff I’d say you’d be ok...

Thank you for sharing this video. I'm originally from NYC, now living in Atlanta suburbs for 6 years. So not Feeling it here, I dont want to say I hate it here, but I just dont feel like I belong here. So want to move to the DMV area, I feel like I would love it, I'd get more of that city feel and there is always things to do in DMV. You said the perfect word to sell me on moving to the DMV when you said there is a "Vibe" there. I understand that perfectly, just like when I go back to visit NYC there's just a "Vibe". That Vibe is totally non existent for me in Atlanta. Smh, thanks for sharing your video.

Tamara: You're looking for a more cosmopolitan experience. Atlanta IS a wonderful city but it feels like a big suburb to me. That isn't an insult nor is it a bad thing. I've enjoyed my close to 4 years here.
Philly and NYC being 2 and 2.5 hours away and Baltimore under an hour. Just grab a train for a weekend trip.
      Good luck!

The cost of living is higher than Atlanta, but the incomes are higher. You don’t have to drive as far on a daily basis since you area has all the services you need and it more recession proof than most areas of the country. Remove the fear and move forward. Figure what you want to spend and don’t budge from that number. Enjoy your life and live it the way God expects you to!

Great video, I would say move to DC and PG County over Arlington. DC and neighboring PG County, MD is where Black Folks are doing the best nationally. Pg County, MD is the wealthiest African American-majority county in the United States. In PG County, all the leadership positions from County Executive to judges are all held by black women. 5 of the richest black neighborhoods in the USA are in PG county. Arlington is way more expensive, and u pay more money for less housing. Arlington is mostly rich white liberals, Interns, College kids and military folks connected to the Pentagon.PG county is way more affordable and welcoming to black folks.

Must be a blessing to have a good paying career to be able to relocate to Washington DC while a brother like me haven't been able to find a good paying job at the age of 52 years old making $12.36 an hour living at my mother's house. At least I don't have any children and a wife because I couldn't afford it. I am a veteran having served in the Marine Corps and the Navy. Can someone please help me with any job leads. I am looking to relocate from Atlanta to North Carolina.

Russell, we can identify with you as our roles have not always been high paying. Yes, even with our Howard degrees, we’ve been furloughed, downsized and in between jobs for months at a time.
Advice: Get your spiritual house right. Church, meditation, whatever works for you. As a man thinks so is he. Work on what you see, hear and think.
Talk with a counselor if necessary.
      Look at upping your skills.
Get into technology or healthcare. Cloud computing skills are sought after. Decide what you like and go after it at night and weekends.
Lots of free training and free college courses on line.
Many companies have military programs. Go to the websites of companies that interest you and see how they recruit veterans. Home Depot, Amazon, you name it.
The internet is your friend Russell. Use it as a tool. Google and CZcams any information you want.
      It’s all there...
All the best. Thanks for watching

Brother, I feel your pain. I assume you're living in Atlanta currently. For ATL, you are variable resources available that help him, you also being a veteran. You can start by checking out or calling in the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. They will evaluate your current skill set, then equip and elevate you to a better life. They offer anything from Workforce skill development to entrepreneurs assistance. I wish you the best. Check them out at ulgatl.org/

Check the suburbs of Maryland on the western side and on the way to Baltimore. Still close but not as expensive. NC is fine, but we just didn’t feel it was diverse enough for our lifestyle. You can move a little further out and get more bang for your buck but still have access to so many of the great things in the DMV. Good luck on your move and new home no matter which one you choose and thanks for watching!

Hi Love! We took our time and had certain non-negotiable so when we were looking. Keep the entire area in mind. Most of our friends live in Maryland but we just felt it was too far for the areas we needed to be near. Living in Atlanta cured us of dealing with traffic so we were willing to pay a little more to have less traffic. If it was just us we would live in the NW Observatory area they have plethora of 1 bed in the older buildings that are larger. The newer buildings are beautiful but super small for the money. In the Age of Enlightenment people are requiring more space. Check the Equitable Company buildings and good luck!
