Making an end grain padauk/maple chessboard

This was 2,25" square chess board. I tried to make "levitating" playing surface. It was a long work. It took me two weeks to make these chessboards.

Simply stunning. My only suggestion, screw the top down for the shipping box so that it can be more easily opened without having to pry it open at delivery and possibly damage the board.

В начале падук - очень красивое дерево! Шикарные досточки получились! Очень много работы, хотя, казалось бы - просто "шахматные доски", НО НЕ ПРОСТО!
На фрезерном удивился, что нет заднего упора и ждал, когда отколется уголочек, прямо триллер, но повезло как-то, то ли фреза у Вас хорошая, то ли я ничего не понимаю! :))
Igor BiBl Фрезы хорошие, но один угол все равно откололся. Но это особенность падука, он легко колется.
Сколько смотрю на вашу работу и всегда с большим удовольствием! доска для шахмат очень понравилась, интересно было бы посмотреть в вашем исполнении доску для нард, я так думаю её обязательно купят! в эту игру играют милионы...

The wedge is genius. I've encountered the same problem cutting thicker stock and didn't want it to burn. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. Thanks.
