You are my main source on all that grows!
I use 2-qt milk cartons as tree pots.. works perfectly!
I visited oak ally in Louisiana a few days ago a "African-American slave gardener from Louisiana (named Antoine) successfully propagated pecans by grafting a superior wild pecan to seedling pecan stock" his master gave him the task after giving up on gmo soft shell peacan . The fuged up part was a few decades later the family got recognized for the peacan s at the state fair. Nobody knows if Antoine knew about the award. Or what thoughts he had. But he was the brains an skills behind the modified peacan we enjoy today.
Like your video on planting and growing pecan trees....!! Brought back lots of memories. Back in 1974 after my wife and I had our home built here in Wharton, TX, I became interested in pecan trees and grafting them. My dad suggested that the root stock should be "pignut" pecan. He knew where such a tree was and brought me a dozen or so of them. They were small and strange looking nuts. I did not taste one, but Dad assured me they were bitter tasting. Anyways, potted a couple to several containers and soon they sprouted and I set out four of them. They grew fast and once they each reached a height of about six feet, I grafted them. Two became Choctaw, a third one Desirable, and the fourth one got some graft wood that a neighbor wanted me to use ( a mistake ). The three I first mentioned have been producing wonderful pecans for many, many years. The "neighbor" one, not so good and I should have top worked that tree years ago when I was younger and better able to do so. Now at 76 yrs, I'm thankful to have had these trees for so long....
Thank you so much for all the tips. Was given an old planter box and when trying to plant some wild flowers found some pecans. Didn't think much of it and after a few weeks of thinking my flowers were growing I just found out I have 29 pecan trees growing 😅
Great video. I also found a sprouted pecan in my potting mix! I think paper shell.
The squirrels around our place have a 100% success rate. They take them from the orchard and place them in our flower beds. Guess you could say they’re regenerative farmers.
Loved this video. Very interested in how to grow other types of trees too.
Excellent video as always. There is a pecan tree on our property but We haven’t added pecan trees because they are so expensive. I am looking forward to trying this. Thank you for your videos I always learn a lot.
As always a great video. Very informative. Thank you
Thanks, will give it a try. This grand old earth could stand more trees. Trees give back so much in return, a marvel of creation.
Only thing I can say is: thank you 5000 times.👍✌️🍀
Thank you from Australia. I have been looking for this sort of detailed information and found it here. Will subscribe.
Awesome video. Thank you.
Excellent. Thank you.
Thanks for this video, it's very clear how to plant pecans from nuts, I am from South Africa
I am so glad you uploaded this video. I watch you all the time! Would love to meet you one day and pick your brain.
You are inspirational and your videos are always very informative. Keep growing!
Great video! Pecans are my favorite. My sister had them all down one side of her driveway on the dairy. I’d also like to know more about how to get sassafras (root beer/gumbo file) trees potted. I’ve tried for years. I know to cut the seedlings from the main root and let get established before digging up. But it’s like they just die when I pot them. Very persnickety lol.
That's awesome! Thanks. Merry Christmas! 🙏🎄
