As as an African American woman l see dark-skinned indian families all the time. I always thought they were so beautiful. What you shared l already heard this but l pray things get better in the Indian community too because dark-skinned Indians are just as beautiful as lighter Indians.
Its not a big problem here in India. Most of the Indian families have mixed children like brown, black and Fairly white. In our Joint Family, my mother and Father both are Fairly White so I'm white. Whilst my cousins are Black. My Paternal and Maternal grandfathers were black. India, a country tormented by 200 years of British Colonialism with which 43 trillion dollars of economy might was looted and spend in World Wars by Brits. We are still suffering from Extreme Poverty, Bad education system, Poor health infrastructure, communal tensions. And because of that such Black-white racist issue tends to get less attention. My mother who is Indo-Guyanese, married an American Black man (and divorced him after she had me). So she brought me back to my grandparents who fell in love with me. Never judged my skin color - and I’m darker than my mom. The only person I remember having issues with my skin color was really my now ex aunt, who’s from a very Indian family. I will never forget the colorism she portrayed between me and my cousins…and taught her daughters the same way… from bleaching their skin, to always straightening their hair and very feminine. I had a child of my own, with a Spanish man. Our daughter turned out a beautiful caramel color. The same ex aunt said, “oh wow- she didn’t come out as dark as you did, she’s so pretty - looks like a real Indian girl!” I wasn’t going to let her talk to me like that, so I posted what she wrote on Facebook to everyone. She blocked me.

Go to south India. I’m black too and I’ve been to north India, I didn’t really have the greatest experience but when I went to the south the people were really friendly and welcoming. They don’t care about your colour because a lot of them are dark too.
It’s crazy because I went through the same situation with my sons mom. Punjabi and Sikh. We have a 8 month old boy I raise alone because she chose her family over him and me. I’m so happy I made the decision to take him and fight for his life. I wouldn’t change a thing. My son will wear and embrace his Jamaican & Indian roots proudly .

Haitians do the same thing with the ear and that test is not true. My neice came out a darker shade and they guessed she would be a darker shade based on the "test", but she is quite light. I personally hate how colorist the Caribbean is, just ridiculous.

South Asian Indians are a separate race from black Africans. There are other races besides Africans that can be very dark skinned, there are South Asians, Melanesian Islanders, and Australian Aboriginals who are all just as dark as Africans but are just as genetically distinct from Africans as white or East Asian people. Example, the “original whites” weren’t East Asian just because they branched off of their common ancestor during the East Eurasian split. White people evolved to fit the climate they moved to and thus have light skin. Same can be said for the Australians, South Asians, and Melanesian Islanders.

I’m a very light skinned black woman, and an Indian woman who I work with told me that she wished she was my complexion. I told her that I’ve always wished that I was darker. Melanin is powerful. I guess some people are ignorant about just how important it is. The European indoctrination of what beauty is never had an effect on me. I’ve always known it’s BS. My daughter is a beautiful brown, and I’m so very thankful that she is. I instilled in her how the beauty of dark skinned women. Are imitated throughout the world. I also taught her to never fill inferior to a white woman because, they suntan to get darker. Innately, they know that it’s beauty. Something that they have to risk getting skin cancer to attain.

I used to travel to southern India on a regular basis. I am UK 🇬🇧 born of Jamaican 🇯🇲 decent. I can categorically tell you that the majority of ppl I encountered whist being there were darker than me. Rich smooth completion. When visiting a number of the business I dealt with I exclaimed how beautiful the ladies were on the shop floor. The owner of one particular business looked at me as if I was crazy and said " no way, look how dark they are" bearing in mind this man was talking to a whole black woman. Suffice to say he did not get my company's business. My grandmother was full Indian. When I told some of the men this they laughed until an elder said " yes, Indians immigrated to many caribbean islands" the younger guys had no clue. I found the colourism there overwhelming. Every other ad on the TV is for bleaching cream. Tragic. On my travels they have got to be some of the most eye-wateringly beautiful ppl on the planet.
There is a lot of colorism that goes on within the black community as well. When it falls along the same lines. The lighter, you are the more desired. The darker the more likely to have a prison record.

My mother who is Indo-Guyanese, married an American Black man (and divorced him after she had me). So she brought me back to my grandparents who fell in love with me. Never judged my skin color - and I’m darker than my mom. The only person I remember having issues with my skin color was really my now ex aunt, who’s from a very Indian family. I will never forget the colorism she portrayed between me and my cousins…and taught her daughters the same way… from bleaching their skin, to always straightening their hair and very feminine.
I had a child of my own, with a Spanish man. Our daughter turned out a beautiful caramel color. The same ex aunt said, “oh wow- she didn’t come out as dark as you did, she’s so pretty - looks like a real Indian girl!”
I wasn’t going to let her talk to me like that, so I posted what she wrote on Facebook to everyone. She blocked me.

It’s crazy because I went through the same situation with my sons mom. Punjabi and Sikh. We have a 8 month old boy I raise alone because she chose her family over him and me. There are other races besides Africans that can be very dark skinned, there are South Asians, Melanesian Islanders, and Australian Aboriginals who are all just as dark as Africans but are just as genetically distinct from Africans as white or East Asian people.
Example, the “original whites” weren’t East Asian just because they branched off of their common ancestor during the East Eurasian split. White people evolved to fit the climate they moved to and thus have light skin. Same can be said for the Australians, South Asians, and Melanesian Islanders.

I’m a very light skinned black woman, and an Indian woman who I work with told me that she wished she was my complexion. I told her that I’ve always wished that I was darker. Melanin is powerful. I guess some people are ignorant about just how important it is. The European indoctrination of what beauty is never had an effect on me. I’ve always known it’s BS. My daughter is a beautiful brown, and I’m so very thankful that she is. I instilled in her how the beauty of dark skinned women. Are imitated throughout the world. I also taught her to never fill inferior to a white woman because, they suntan to get darker. Innately, they know that it’s beauty. Something that they have to risk getting skin cancer to attain.

I used to travel to southern India on a regular basis. I am UK 🇬🇧 born of Jamaican 🇯🇲 decent. I can categorically tell you that the majority of ppl I encountered whist being there were darker than me. Rich smooth completion.
When visiting a number of the business I dealt with I exclaimed how beautiful the ladies were on the shop floor. The owner of one particular business looked at me as if I was crazy and said " no way, look how dark they are" bearing in mind this man was talking to a whole black woman. Suffice to say he did not get my company's business.
My grandmother was full Indian. When I told some of the men this they laughed until an elder said " yes, Indians immigrated to many caribbean islands" the younger guys had no clue.
I found the colourism there overwhelming. Every other ad on the TV is for bleaching cream. Tragic. On my travels they have got to be some of the most eye-wateringly beautiful ppl on the planet.
There is a lot of colorism that goes on within the black community as well. When it falls along the same lines. The lighter, you are the more desired. The darker the more likely to have a prison record.
I am a black man and never EVER faced any form of racism directly to my face until I moved into a predominantly Indian area.
