LED Projector Headlights on the Corolla

- Part 2 of the WRECKED mini series where I attempt to repair and improve the damage to my 1993 toyota corolla dx (ae102 7th gen) after a minor collision. in this episode I am installing the @Specdtuninginfo projector headlights and plastic mesh grill and replacing the dim halogen bulbs with Fahren LED bulbs. There were a few speed bumps, per usual, but I got them in and lighting up the path ahead!

glad i found this video, i have these same lights over 3 years and didnt install yet. a little advice, get a 12v test light it makes life so easier with wiring

I know! That's the main reason I pulled the trigger on making the channel, it's so hard to find good info and cool stuff about these, even though they are the most popular car in the world. I really appreciate it!

I have a Toyota Corolla 2002 ae114, turbo, intercooler, all the software of the injection is managed by the FT300 Injection. It's turbo charged with about 355hp. My Toyota was builted 12 years ago, since then, there was not a single breakdown. I take of it, as it was my baby, hahaha 😂😂😂!!!

A had change all the interior: I change the old cream collor leather, for black leather, and made the matirial soft touch! It takes 100% ethanol, and it is smooth, if you don't wake up the dragon that is under the hood! I also bought 1 pai of a great projector led, to install together with a friend of mine, who has a business directed to restoretion of headlights, and tail lights. Ex

But the algorithm doesn't like if you don't upload very frequently, and sadly that takes a lot of time and money, which is hard to manage with a full time job and family, but hey, I'm trying!

I'll definitely try to do that, bonehead move not including that in this video. I know I mentioned it in the video, but the bulbs that came with them were very weak and dim, but with the bulbs I upgraded to they are very bright. So all depends on the bulbs you get

Yea those are cool. I want the fx-GT front bumper but they are expensive and hard to find all the fog lights and signal lights for them
Where did you order the head light at and will they work for a toyota corolla 1998 models
I got them on ebay, but these will not fit a 1998, they are for 1993-1997. But you can find a similar style for a 98

Yo i need some help I have the same car but the wiring of the battery on mines look like like copper wrapped around you think I need to replace before it goes bad ?
Keep in mind, I'm no expert. But if you mean there is exposed wire on your battery cables, that is not ideal. Mine has some of the wire exposed right at the terminal and I plan on replacing the terminal and heat wrapping the end. I would recommend doing that, or wrapping it with some good electrical tape

I still use the factory turn signals just with a replacement sylvania LED bulb from autozone
But the corner light is just a silvania type 94
So should I use 14 gauge or the 16-19 gauge you used
I'm really pretty ignorant when it comes to Electrical stuff, I just used what I had, but I haven't had any issues at all. I'm sure the bigger the better until it's overkill

I don't believe so, atleast I cans find any with the projector style. There are a few styles on ebay but none with projectors that I can find

I'm not too sure honestly, they definitely are not up to the quality of genuine toyota, but they are still decent. The brand is "spec-D" they have a lot of different styles for a lot of different cars. But yea I find it strange that even the 7th gen doesn't have more aftermarket support. The corolla is the most popular car in the world you'd think they would make everything for them
What of the turning lamp/indicator lights.
They were untouched, work as normal.
What are your thoughts on the Altezza Black Tail Lights? I would get the same headlights as you but I'm too afraid to touch any wiring
I thought the same thing but just had to go for it. Ended up being pretty easy, no soldering or anything. But I think those are the tails I have now, but I don't know, they work, I just wish there was higher quality aftermarket stuff for these cars. It's either super expensive original parts, or cheap ebay junk, no in between

Yeah I saw there was no soldering and it did look pretty easy when you did it but I'm just worried that I'm not going to wire something right and it could burn out the wiring🤯😨.
yea these cars need a lot more clout than what they getting they deserve and yes they're definitely needs to be a bigger third party market for these cars then what there is atm. I've decided to go with something that looks similar to your old headlights also look really similar to the original ones accept their blacked out on the inside I think they look slick as😁

Sir I have a question... I have a Corolla 1994 with normal air filter..can I replace it with sport air filter and what does that differ?
Yes you can, but it honestly isn't going to make much of a difference at all performance wise unless you have a full high flow exhaust, injectors, and a tune, and that will only get you maybe 10hp if you're lucky. It's mainly for aesthetics and louder induction noises

I'm not sure. The ae100 is 1993-1997, if it's 1988 that's e90 and I don't know much about then. I found these on ebay, I would search there for your model year

What kind of bulbs you used for the corner/turn light?
Sylvania LEDs for both. Corner lights are type 194, turn signals are type 1156. Same as stock

One of them is broken, so I'm not sure if I'd sell them just for that reason. I'm not sure where you are located, but they were on ebay for relatively cheap, the brand name is DEPO
What kind air filter do u have for ur corolla
It's just some universal ebay "AirX" filter for now, but I will be switching to the K&N version soon. It looks the same but a bit better quality. I'll put the link right here👇

@ruseriousrn586 so far no issues they are still working just as well as when I installed them. Only issue I have is my own fault, I spilled oil on one of them and pressure washed it off, but now it stays fogged up because the seal was damaged.

If you want genuine toyota parts, you have to check the dealerships websites or toyotapartsdeals.com. if you want aftermarket OE stuff, rockauto.com or 1aauto.com. it's surprisingly hard to find certain parts though considering these are the most popular car in the world

Hey thanks! I appreciate that, means a lot. Recently did research on the VIN and realized this is a pretty rare model, early production number, built in Japan for the US market instead of Canada. So working on doing some things the right way this time around. Definitely more to come!
@@walker.projects I have an EE100 base model "XL" and I'm also working on it myself, not really restoring it but just "modernizing" it if that makes sense (dashcam, reverse cam, android head unit w/ gps, new speakers, fully leatherette interior, tint, etc). so projector headlights are my next step after tinting, and found your video. unfortunately i'd have to import the headlights from the US which is hard for me, so currently finding an alternative to the specdtuning ones.
where i'm from, most folks adhere to some sort of cookie cutter builds for these cars (i.e GT, BZ Touring, JDM, Euro, USDM) etc. but I'd rather have a unique yet functional car than a "good-looking-car-that-looks-like-everybody-elses" so i like how you do your mods. :D
That makes perfect since. I agree with you there, I'm not great with electronics and modern stuff is just more things to go wrong for me, so I prefer the old equipment other than a Bluetooth head unit and better speakers and all LED bulbs inside and out. I kind of want to do a mixture of all the styles with mine. I want the FX front bumper, just got a touring wagon grill, and looking for the euro rear bumper and garnish. But with JDM tail lights lol

I did not do anything to the turn signals in this video, but they are clear lenses with sylvania amber LED bulbs

@trust.no_1 thanks i appreciate that! the turn signals on these are not in the headlights, they are on the corner of the bumper. They are unaffected by these headlights and will continue to work as they did stock.
