I clicked on this video because I bought a 98 Honda Civic and had no idea why it had some random sensor on the back of its intake manifold that wasn't plugged into anything. manual transmission Y8 intake manifold. I also don't have an idle air temperature sensor I finally figured out, so my swap was just done really poorly lol thank you for the video, you saved a lot of confusion to somebody new to Hondas

Wow man the memories, I remember the Y8 manifold swap being the go to 18 yrs. ago when I did it on the z6 in my 95cx (which I still own btw). The good ole days when homemade turbo was my homepage on my computer. You earned a sub for hitting that nostalgia factor in me.

is this for a manual civic? ive been reading forums cause i wanna do an auto to manual swap but the main one on the forum says a y8 MANUAL intake manifold, intake, and y8 manual throttble body. im vv confused
It wasnt done and, impossibly, I'm still trying to figure out what the pipes are on the head and on the manifold close to the head
Thank you for making this video. I have a Project 2000 Honda Civic DX AUTOMATIC (Yeah it was my Sister's car Before) Slowly want to convert it to Manual. But right now I want to replace the D16Y7 to Y8. I've Purchased a Y8 from FB market place. The Seller took it out from his 2000 Honda Civic EX .. He said it's Plug And Play since they're Both Automatic. But Do I have to Plug those Holes First in order for it to make it work? Cause that small little think you covered and zip tied in the end is something that you will use for an Automatic, but Only for EX AUTOMATIC Model not DX Automatic. I don't know if I'm making any sense here. I just need to know if I still have to Plug in the holes before I start doing this Mani Swap. Please Help and thank you for your time in reading my comment. 🙏
Are you swapping the whole engine from Y7 to Y8? If so I think I’ll also need the Y8 ECU because if vtech.
I would imagine if you are going manual then you’ll need to plug those holes. I would look up pictures of a y8 auto to a y8 manual intake manifold and see if the manual has those holes.
@@brotherboost Thanks.. no I'm just Swapping the Manifold. Y7 to Y8 .. Not Doing any Engine Swap. And I just Found out that my Y7 Doesn't Have those extra Hose. So I Guess I do have to Plug all those 5 holes. Thanks for your Reply. And thanks for Doing Newer Video Also. Your Older Video Says to use 1/4" Hose .. Now in this one you said to use 5/16" Hose Instead. I guess I have to update my hose to 5/16 😁

So I got the 96 to 98 intake manifold and I realized where the throttle body goes on the cut out on the manifold is a bit different from the one you have in this video. Am I still able to use the gasket you recommend and my y7 throttle body
Hmm I’m not 100% on that. It may cause yours to idle weird. I know they said if you get the wrong gasket it will idle at like 2000 rpm

Your best/cheapest bet would be a junkyard. I got mine on ebay after looking for months for one that didnt want an arm and a leg. Got too lazy to go to the junkyard lol

I cut some of the tape that was holding all of the wires together
Right on, the 2 connectors taped with the fuel injector connector go to throttle body?
Also, what connector goes into that loose denso plug with the vacuum hose?

What did you connect the port on the valve cover to?
Nothing, left it open as a breather. Some people put a little filter on it
@@brotherboost thanks. I just did this and mine idles way too high and starts revving immediately so I want to make sure I didn't forget that

@@brotherboost I reused the tb gasket which was probably not a good idea but I'm getting one in the mail tomorrow. I took everything apart and I couldn't find anything wrong so I'm hoping the tb gasket will fix it. I'm a bit worried though because it seems like there is a big leak

why cant you use the y8 throttle body?
Y8 throttle body pulls in a different direction if I remember correctly

Thanks for your input! Really you should use the Y8 throttle cable which is much shorter.
