I have too much respect for these workers, these guys look so competent at what they're doing; they work with fast hands and to a high standard. Many of us consumers just see the final product on the supermarket shelf and forget about the labour required.

I am pretty worried for the fate of food industry in the future, since the nymber of farmers is decreasing, and nobody seems to talk about this.

When we were sent back to the States, I hated the taste of the bananas and it took a long time to start eating them regularly again.

@@jennifersneegas8352 This particular labor as you can see from the video is mostly people working by hand and barely using any machinery. Mostly on a fields. Imagine working at high temperatures lifting this stacks of bananas that weight about 60kg through the fields to the vehicle they transport it and backwards. Its hard labor work. And its not just that all they do. It has nothing to do with u standing on your feed in a factory driven mostly by machines. In 3rd countries like this owners tend to pay poorly to their workers and they have to bust their asses off work everyday. In the US you could just quit that job and move to something else. Its not as if these people have much options and opportunities as you and me have. The very least we can do is appreciate their efford and hard work and be suportive.

I believe it's possible (and normal) for us 'public', occupied as we are in pursuit of our own busy schedules, to oft-times lose sight and appreciation for the grand effort and commitment of all those in the food and agricultural industries, for providing the wonderful bounty and harvest that grace our family tables. So speaking for all of us (no one asked me [I know] I took it upon my self), thank you!!! [p.s.] If and when they become overripe (not fun to eat), I toss 'em in the freezer whole and save them for frozen smoothies later! (Run a little hot water over the frigid 'nana, makes the slightly thawed peel much easier to remove from ice-bound core!) And there's your 'Hints From Heloise' moment. BTW I love bananas, probably my favorite fruit!

I have always loved watching banana plants and I enjoy bananas in my yogurt and cereals. Its amazing to see how the bananas I enjoy today are shipped. thank you for all the hard work and army of people who bring the delicious banana to my table! ^0^
I actually have some found memories with the banana trees that makes me love watching the banana trees..I remember specifically that there was this one banana tree that actually bore fruit to my surprise in my childhood neighbourhood, and I was always tempted to pick it and eat it or climb it..My mum stopped me from climbing banana tree or eating the green banana fruit which was still growing for one thing and the other thing, it grew up next to a road where cars and other traffic constantly passed, so it may not have been the cleanest banana in the world..but I still got to enjoy watching it and learned how bananas that I eat grew! It may actually have been the first time I saw any fruit grow in my life, which added to the fun and excitement ^0^ Even to this day I wonder if that banana is still there today..(never mind the fact when I lived there would be almost good 20-23 yrs ago, but I would certainly wish to visit it if that same tree was still there ^^) Shout out to that banana tree if its still there (^0^)/

It may not be chemicals as we understand the word. It could be an oil or wax sealant for example. We never used such a thing on our bananas so i cant be sure ( i havent worked in the industry for several decades)
