    I am soooooooo glad she continues to discuss this. We can tell this is serious and not for likes. This woman is over it. Monique tried to warn us. Hopefully this time something will change. Let’s not forget earlier this year the actors came together and protested. Wish her well.

      And Monique is an excellent actress as well she’s comedic actress. She played in fat girls which brought light to how women feel when their body shamed for being overweight but other cultures see women who are categorized as overweight in America, but in their culture and country it’s considered abundance and prosperity and that your wealthy and your curvaceous Also white women in acting seem to get whatever they want and free products and cars and we need to support black Hispanic Asian other ethnic ethnic women in acting

    I feel you girl. As a woman, I was working ten times harder than the men, have very good qualifications, impressive resume, and the go to person to save everybody's a** in crisis yet I was getting way less. The promotions were given to work shy and less competent people who more than once stole my ideas and present them as their own. I walked away from the cesspool.

    This is what people were complaining about during the strike. It’s so much bigger than just a wage gap. There needs to be a fundamental shift in the way we respect and care for artists and storytellers no matter the medium. Why are random business executives at these studios who have no creative input whatsoever making billions of dollars of off the creativity and emotional labor of other people who don’t get paid adequately for the projects that fund the entire industry? The world watches these movies and shows because of the artistry: the acting, the writing, the stories. No one watches a movie because they just love the CEO of that studio so much 😑 it’s so backwards it’s insane!

    • @seedking40
      @seedking40 Před 5 měsíci +1

      None of that matters in accordance with pay. The bulk of what determines pay is your loyal fan base and it's size. All the actresses you mentioned can only produce Tyler Perry figures by themselves, at best. Which is about $40 million gross. In order for a film to reach profitablity they need low budget. They can't pay some of these great actresses $10-$20 million if the film can barely make $30-$40 million. Unfortunately the film industry isn't a place that's going to be fair because the people that look like you are the ones that are your customers. Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, and Angelina Jolie have a marketable customer base of 117 million white females. On the other hand black actresses have a marketable customer base of 20 million black females. White male actors have the white male and female audience and if they are an action star they have a universal audience like Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio etc. Black Male actors have both black male and female audience and if they obtain popularity they can reach a universal audience like Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy etc.

      @seedking40 Před 5 měsíci

      It's true that she gets paid less but there's no conspiracy against her. Black female actresses have a smaller target market to satisfy. As a result they can't help but get paid less. She looks at her peers but her peers have larger fan bases and box office success consistency to demand a fee.

      I don't think those who get paid big money in Hollywood it is because of their large fan base or box office pull. Many of these stars' movies have tanked at the box office. Hollywood just doesn't want to pay, the people at the top who control the companies and studios they want to keep the money/power at the top. Hollywood no longer invests in the actors, they invest in the movies.

    She is one of my favorite actors since Benjamin Button. I feel her frustration. Being paid less than 10% of what other get, all the while being expected to deliver 300% and that's not an exaggeration. Also expected to do things for free that others don't have to and not a single cent added. She is going to make her own business and be successful. She remains one of my favorite actors. If Henson and others believe they’re underpaid, they need to make apples-to-apples comparisons to illustrate their points. In other words, what do other black actresses get paid whose movies have generated comparable box office receipts and whose TV shows have garnered similar ratings vs. the salaries of white actresses who look about the same on paper?
    Also, if studio execs and producers really want you for a role and they can afford to meet your desired pay, they’ll do what they can to hire you. You have to negotiate, and if you can’t come to an agreement, you must move on.
    I find it hard to believe that someone as popular as Henson still lacks opportunities to the point where she has to settle for insufficient pay.
    Several black women have become prominent in film and TV such as Oprah Winfrey, Queen Latifah, Ava DuVernay, Viola Davis, Regina King, Sanaa Lathan, Issa Rae, Lena Waithe, Quinta Brunson - and the list goes on - by *_creating_* lucrative vehicles. Henson and others of her stature should be able to make the math start mathing to their benefit if so many others can.
    Ownership is key to making that happen. It not at all empowering to wait for an outpouring of generosity from Hollywood bigwigs whose _own_ bottom lines are ultimately their top priorities.

    Well, I have checked Taraji's social media accounts: 21 MILLION Instagram fans, 5 MILLION Twitter fans and 11 MILLION Facebook fans. That's 37 MILLION fans... but's let's round it back to 35 MILLION. Now, if she leveraged that incredible social media group and pitched a movie project to them through crowdfunding that she would star in and produce with lots of other great Black actresses and actors, she could raise millions.
    LEVERAGE YOUR TALENT AND SOCIAL MEDIA FANBASE!
    If she asked her fans to donate a minimum of $10 towards the production in exchange for a digital copy of the film, she could raise $350,000,000!!! That's a bigger budget than Fast and Furious 10 or Avengers: Infinity War or Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End or Justice League or Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny or Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One!

    The reason the response to what Taraji said differs from when Monique said it is very simple. Monique is perceived to be a strong woman and able to handle the pay inequality. Taraji was emotional when she discussed it thus giving the perception that she is a victim. People rally around who they perceive to be weaker. Things will only change for black actors when the perception around their value changes. And in order for that to change, the actors themselves have to stop getting their validation from who pays them and what and start getting validation from within. When they begin to value themselves they will refuse to entertain lowball offers requiring those who offer them jobs to pay them what they are worth.🦋

    • @SomeOne-yv8jf
      @SomeOne-yv8jf Před 5 měsíci

      Nobody will pay them their worth and that's why they take the low-ball offers after being on the bench too long and their team needs paying and the bills are piling up. Why are the British faking American accents getting these high paying roles? Taraji can't fake a British accent, she has to be employed here in American Hollywood.
