- “The Color Purple” stars Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia Barrino Taylor and Danielle Brooks sat down with “Extra’s” Melvin Robert to dish on the new musical movie. The talented trio spoke about how they all had to audition for the film, and Fantasia and Danielle also shared some of the advice they got from Taraji. “The Color Purple” hits theaters December 25.

Taraji is a sweetheart...I worked in the Movie What Men Want which she Starred in and she made it a point to acknowledge everyone daily on the set from the background actors to the janitors! I so love and respect her for that because I lived in "HollyWeird" and many of the folks are so fake and the so call Divas think it's only about them!

I ❤ this sisterhood. Taraji being a great big sis by ensuring the ladies don't make business mistakes. Sisters upholding each other👏🏿🙏🏿💕
not only business mistakes, she also help Fantasia thru the acting process. I've seen another interview in which Fantasia revealed she couldn't turn off the role in the past when she was in the live play. Taraji would make jokes inbetween cuts to allow for balance and provide guidance when she could. The best actors literally embody the heart/essence of a character when playing the role and that can be hard on a person depending on the character being played especially when a person's mental is in a sensitive state in their personal lives. I so look forward to seeing the movie on Christmas day!!!

Taraji P. Henson is such a remarkable person. She has a pure heart and she is always willing to help others. She is always an inspiration to others and she strives hard to make her dreams come true. She is truly a role model. I love the way she holds the sisterhood down. She is such a strong, independent, and courageous woman. She is a great example of how to never give up and to keep going no matter what obstacle is in the way. She is an inspiration to many. For instance, she recently opened her own production company, TPH Entertainment, to give women of color an opportunity to share their stories and to be represented in the entertainment industry.
I love that Taraji shared her experiences to make others greater!

oh now that would be very nice to see....I just hope that if done it can maintain the integrity and authenticity of true friendship without the influence of the reality drama/nonsense of some of todays binged watched shows like Housewives, which I couldn't really get into.

The original Colour Purple is one of my favourite movies of all time and I have seen it so many times that I’ve lost count. I’m not a fan of remaking the classics but after watching the cast do their rounds, hearing their journey and hearing them speaks such beautiful words to each other I’m going to give it a watch.
These ladies are my favorite they have shown black women that we can get alone and we can work together and still be brilliant in what ever we are doing together or apart they brought tears to my eyes I pray all get a award they are all brilliant in what they do n together as actress ❤❤❤💐💐💐 give them there flowers 💐 💐💐

Danielle is a sweetheart! I met her backstage after the “piano lesson”. She was so sweet and kind. I knew her parents, so they hooked up the backstage event for my husband and I. She took pictures with us, and was just so humble. We did not stay long, because I did not want to take up a lot of her time. I’m so happy for her.

Wow how refreshing to watch this video! It is so awesome to see black women standing by each other side and holding each other up and supporting each other, instead of making comments about their skin color and tearing each other down.

Its nice to see women working together! They all did a great job. The movie felt genuine to me. I grew up in the rural south and this was a nice spin on modernizing a classic. It was truly believable.

I think Fantasia was a great choice for Celie. At first I was like, "Why not Cynthia?" To me she was like, perfect. Her rendition of I'm Here is one of the best musical numbers I've ever heard in my life. But ultimately I think she was almost, too perfect or polished. The ragged tears of Fantasia's voice and acting fits Miss Celie to the Tee.
Fantasia you can feel the pain in her voice. And that’s what’s needed for celie
Cynthia is talented but I prefer Fantasia, it just seems more believable to me.
