Bison: He's after my organization! *He wants my billions of Bison dollars!* 💸
And each bison dollar is worth five british pounds, for that will be exchange rate the bank of England will implement once he has kidnapped their queen. that can buy a lot of earl grey tea.
I swear every old cartoon had an episode where the main hero and villain would team up to take on a common enemy/bigger threat, and they all end with the hero and villain giving a thumbs up to each other.
And I'm not gonna lie, I always enjoyed hero/villain teamups like those. As nonsensical as those could be at times.
Centrism is a hell of drug.
Star Wars Rebels did that plot really well in an early episode, placing Zeb (last of his race after a genocide) and Kallus (Imperial agent responsible for the attack) in a survival situation where they have to depend on each other.
It's a kind of story that's best done when you want to set up a turn in the bad guy's character and give both characters some depth (which that Rebels episode definitely does). But if your show just hits the reset button afterward, then it comes off as hollow.
Yeah I agree with that.
I mean I'm not going to lie but the plot of this episode looked quite similar to the episode of the 90's X-Men cartoon in which Xavier and Magneto works together.
The similarities are a lot, lol!.
@@Totavier the bad lands episode!! true but they were friends before the evil turn magneto made so it’s a lil different but none the less you right my guy.
Guile: "I know you hurt innocent people!"
Bison: "No one is innocent!"
Okay, that delivery (as well as the forced fight between the two) was pretty good, not gonna lie.
“Letting people die isn’t high on my list of natural responses.” Is also pretty solid to me.
Bison gets some surprisingly good lines in this series. That and how he feels about killing his parents.
Guile: “I know you consume unethical products.”
Bison: “Everything is unethical!
"Nobody's innocent." - Bison's... PSYCHO-analysis.
You really crushed it there.
People like the “I killed my father too” line but “Self-preservation narrowly won out over the pleasure of watching you burn.” is slept on if you ask me.
The ending shot is pretty decent also
"hey, we need someone to voice Akuma"
"What's his background?"
"Japanese guy. Killed his brother, who is the guy who trained Ken and Ryu"
"Give him an English accent👍
“It completely betrays the spirit of the show, and all those that died during its production” hahaha brilliant
Kenzo Tsujimoto isn’t just a guy at Capcom, he’s the founder, and all of his sons have positions at the company. He also showed up in the movie just because
Oh yeah, he's in the AN crowd when Guile wants to kick that sunuvabeech Bison so hard his grandmother will feel it.
Do you remember where?
Japanese Nepotism checks out.
Dude this is fascinating
Wasn't he also in Ken's Street Fighter Alpha 2 alongside a bunch of other Capcom characters? I think he was the butler looking guy to the far right.
i've never imagines Akuma with this gentle, dapper Voice.
Sounds very wong
They really went ham on Bison’s red glowey eyes and crumbling rock effects in this one.
This animation was so expressive, even if there are some derpy faces and exaggerated perspective. I actually liked it.
Interesting way to showcase Akuma, who only recently got a name (he was unnamed until Alpha 2, right?)
In-game wise, was first named in Alpha 1. Gaming publications had his name by this point.
The midframes on Guile and Bison during that fight were just perfection!
Chun Li's face at 6:55 sure is hurting.
Was gonna say I'm surprised Matt didn't point it out. There are plenty of hilarious off-model scenes, but Chunners looks like she's selling potions that are too strong for us here.
@@KuroCartoonist I think you mean Infinite which even then, this face is less hideous than the original MvCi version.
I'll be honest that this is probably the only best episode from Street Fighter the Animated Series that features bison and guile working together to fight Akuma which was a call back to Street fighter Alpha Dynamic battle and Street Fighter 2 the movie.
18:36: Akuma doing his impersonation of Bison from Street Fighter 2: "One.." Hit. "Two." Hit, Grabs Guile and throws him at bison. "Three strikes your out."
Yeah, it's one of those episodes where despite some dumb or nonsense moments, it's still a pretty entertaining episode and it's interesting to see Guile and Bison team up to fight Akuma even if the match up is ridiculous.
This whole episode is just a Dramatic Battle we never got in a Street Fighter game
The animation for this episode is surprisingly good even with some very off looking shots here and there.
It's really, really expressive rather than accurate.
I think the fight between Bison and Guile is actually one of the best ones of the entire series
That's not a high bar, isn't?
@@Invidente7 considering the rest of the series, the bar wasn't that high
That extra 20 bucks came in clutch
@@dagripper77
probably
I just love the idea of Akuma setting up electronic signals to bait Guile. It's right up there with Terry Bogard, CIA.
Also Nightwolf being the tech guy of Mortal Kombat.
Bison's smile at the end. For some reason it gave me the creeps!
I remember watching this episode as a kid, being hyped because Akuma was going to be in it, then being so utterly confused while watching the episode 😂
Guile: furious typing at desk
Matt: "Stop playing fcking SNOOD, Guile!"
I can't with this, Matt. Snood is such a deep cut. XD
With this and that earlier episode where Bison tried to brainwash Guile to join his side, I think Bison secretly is lonely just wants to be friends with Guile. But he just doesn't know how you actually are supposed to befriend people, so he does all these crazy things in an attempt to befriend Guile.
Maybe. Heck, SPOILER ALERT:
Despite Bison seemingly killed in the finale, it should be noted that he wasn't really himself since due to major injuries he got in the second episode of Season 2, he used a magical dancing statue to heal him. Even though it was said by Cammy to be too much for him to handle and it ended up messing with his mind making him more focused in destroying the world than conquering it by the final episode. But hey, if you ever wanted to see these two as best friends, check out Leet Fighters. It's... Dumb but in a fun way if you enjoy YTPs but much more creative.
Neurodivergent friendships be like
Honestly I think Bison just really loves brainwashing people: Cammy, Ken in the anime movie, Ryu and Chun-Li in the anime series, Guile in this cartoon...
I liked how Bison ran at Guile full speed, stopped dead in his tracks, and then proceeds to monologue LOL 😂
Okay, that was definitely David _"Beast Wars_ Megatron" Kaye voicing Akuma at the start, but then it changed to Dale Wilson, who voiced Ja-Kal on _Mummies Alive!_ (anyone remember that show?) Cell in the Canadian dub of _Dragonball Z_ and a bunch of characters on _Roswell Conspiracies: Aliens, Myths & Legends,_ (super underated show that one). It appears that in Akuma's only other appearance, that being in Season 2, he was voiced by David Kaye.
You asking Matt's audience if they remember Mummies Alive? Of course, I do. Matt certainly does.
Mummies alive was fun.
I'm a fan of the idea that Akuma used C4 to blow up that dock factory as a secret technique
"Cee-Four-Ken"
The scene where Chun-li and Blanka are talking to Guile in the science cave, Chun-li looks like a fucking martian with that forehead.
I was about to say what the hell is up with Chun-li's face in that scene! lmao🤣
It's like her face is receding into her skull every second it passes
The animation budget is all over the place in this episode. Some scenes went honey baked ham with it while others went cold hot dog.
This episode is stupid, I love it!
I love how the animation swaps between shoujo levels of beautiful and ridiculously derpy at random, adds to the stupid charm..!
"Akuma? But nobody's ever seen him!" makes him disguising himself in the beginning even funnier. I dunno why Akuma turned into a Michael Bell sounding dude in the last bit there, but I now have no problems with "DIE ONE THOUSAND DEATHS" after hearing this man talk too much. Homeboy NEVER shut up.
"Your calculon just died" made me laugh a bit too much
I love how the ceiling fan bomb is never explained.
Man this episode had a lot of body portions errors so far I saw big eye Gile when he gets out of the volcano and chun li with her face being small in one part 😂
Oh boy, what a treat!
Man, they did spent all their budget on those face close-ups, didn't they?
You know that game where a group of people create a story by adding one word at a time? That’s how the art style for this episode felt.
Guile: (To Bison as they face off before he departs) "...Just get in the plane." >: (
I could see Bison saving Guile if only to rob Akuma of the satisfaction. Guile dies at a moment of Bison's choosing and no one elses. Besides, who knows how much more powerful Akuma could get sucking on Guiles chi energy, better to keep him close and use Guile as a sacrificial lamb once they track Akuma down.
I gotta admit: The era when nobody knew anything about Akuma, not even Capcom themselves, was pretty fun!
He could be anything!
I mean, now that we know his backstory: He killed Gouken, except no he didn't, and Kazumi Mishima hired him to kill Heihachi because he's also literally canon to the Tekken story, which makes Street Fighter X Tekken also canon, and he fights Geese and Final Fantasy and The Walking Dead, so those are all canon too...
And you can argue that Ryu's ending in SFXTK ends with him waking up in the intro to Marvel vs Capcom 3, so that's canon too...
Usually when you do one of these "main character and villain have to learn to cooperate for their mutual survival"-plots it's with a more sympathetic villain, or at least a more affable one.
I feel like this is the best episode so far.
Interesting and fun premise along with many great Bison moments.
"Perhaps you would like to retire me, right now!"
Is such a badass line.
I can see that. While I personally find Medium is the Message the best episode (even though it also serves as the worst episode LOL), Strange Bedfellows did an entertaining yet unexpected Teamup between the two with some memorable Bison lines that we've brought up in these comments.
Also it unintentionally gave us Dramatic Battle in this episode.
19:59 that Bison smile, what the hell XD
Pausing at 9:23 is solid gold
At 6:53, what happened to Chun Li’s face??!! 😂😂
Yeah that sounds like David Kaye as Akuma and the Guile vs M. Bison fight was actually pretty cool also if Sagat don't put his feet down, above to me act up🤣
David Kaye is the voice actor of Megatron in Beast Wars
It's been nice having these be newly uploaded to watch after coming back from the store.
4:09
Spoken like a true poet. 😢😢😢
13:02 So this show's version of Akuma is what Necalli from 5 would later be?
It never ceases to amaze me how the US media was hell bent on making Zangief a bad guy (oh sorry, a “badguy”) just by virtue of being Russian. Dude is basically the russian version of Ryu, training all the time and curing your depression by giving hugs and throwing you around a little bit (as shown in more detail in SFIV)
IIRC Japan made him bad in their Victory series. Besides, I kinda like that he's Bison's number one fan a little more than him being another good guy. Also Zangief wasn't quite as fleshed out back in the day and wasn't really interesting a character to put in a show like this. Now if R. Mika existed back then, that could've been a way to make him "good".
I'm a simple man, I see a new SFTAS watch along with the muscle man, I click
whenever a rock falls into lava this episode, the splash is white like a splash of water. Rewatch and tell me im wrong.
The animation in this episode both feels like the animators were trying too hard and not trying hard enough.
"Could it have been a... Street Fighter?"
Akuma is probably one of the truest Street Fighters in the franchise, all things considering.
Man, i feel we can write some fan-fiction Street Fighter episode scripts and title them based on colloquialisms. Like, “The Cookie Crumbles”, “Shock n’ Awesome”, or “My Lifestyle Determines My Deathstyle”.
I keep hearing A Link to the Past whenever the horns come in on the soundtrack.
@4:52
Did they get the idea for Akuma's 3rd strike ending from this cartoon? Lololol
Blanka sounds like The Shockmaster 😂
LET'S GOOOOO! I've been looking forward to seeing more of these
Akuma can definitely teleport.... I looked up his moves list....
The voice for Akuma is so unfitting it's funny, makes me want to see a version of Akuma as an established gentleman haha
Definitely me but that voice kinda gives me Seto Kaiba vibes.
PSYCHO GUILE FACE 9:23
I mean, since you mentioned Megatron from Beast Wars, the dude that plays Bison is the voice of Rhinox in BW, and Blanka/Ken is Rattrap/Dinobot in BW
He knows, dude. He even mentions that in a later video or two. Or a previous one, I don't really know but he knows his VAs at times.
Akuma: a violent vagrant Bision:A leader of a para military organization. Akuma is more dangerous
6:52 Oh God, there it is, wrong face position Chun-Li!
Shadolu is explained pretty well in the old rpg if u can find it
Akuma sounds like Dagoth Ur.
No joke, the animation is not bad in this episode! Its actually decent! Well, the first half anyways.
Love these street fighters episode. Matt’s rage is to hilarious. Please make more…MORE!
HERE IT IS. The only episode I actually have a memory watching. That Bison/Guile thumbs up at the end was cheesy even for mt 9 year old self.
14:10 Sheng Long Island. That's a pretty good easter egg.
cheap ass flowers
Making Akuma this scheming eloquent mastermind is such a weird take. The guy does two things in life: try to get stronger and buy sandals. Him setting up this plan to play one side against the other is so out of character.
To be fair, there wasn't much to his character from the source material to pull from - assuming said source was pre SFA while this season was in production.
"It betrays . . . all those who died during [the show's] production."
It betrays the spirit of good taste and quality?
For someone who keeps going on and on about honor and justice, Guile sure does like shooting sonic booms into peoples backs.
And he kinda likes being a hypocrite when he tells Chun-Li and Dee Jay in their episodes not to let their personal feelings get in the way of their mission yet he ignores Escher's orders to go fight Bison to avenge his ex while trying to justify his actions.
If you think Guile teaming up with Bison does not make sense here, then you should definitely check out fan fiction show ''Leet Fighters'', It's about Guile and Bison the greatest friends in the world and having some dumb fun adventures together. :D
Then again, that's more of a YTP series where it's not supposed to make sense.
Side note: Sakurai TOTALLY put Guile in Ultimate because of Toon Guile's moveset video.
This episode is pretty great.
Old cartoons always have some kind of message at the end 2 be a better person, I LUV it do yall remember Gargoyles?
Did you notice it take place on Shin Long Island
People may not appreciate Akuma's interpretation here, but in terms of character assassination you have to admit he came out better than Charlie "Blanka" Nash, suddenly a genetic scientist Dhalsim, and evil for the sake of evil Zangief.
I don't know why they didn't just put Charlie in the Van Damme movie and this instead of combining him and Blanka.
Derpy smiling Bison frightens me.😨
at 18:41 the beads mysteriously disappear
Guile's computer sounds like a ps3 turning on
Akuma's voice isn't different, it's just not filtered when they meet him. He's still clearly David Kaye.
From what I've looked, Akuma has two voices in this show. Kaye was definitely in the next episode but apparently this episode also had another VA (probably during the final minutes).
15:57 Akuma is about to bust a big one
As an animator, I've noticed really wonky inbetween frames. Blanka's ear is morphing all around, the faces constantly get their ratios warped etc.
Also every face, especially Bison and Guile, looks out of proportion, they don't look the same as in the previous episodes at all. Some even have some weird perspective issues, also not similar to previous episodes.
I believe on this episode the studio was on a really short deadline or they were short on staff, this was obviously made under dire circumstances.
That fight music is fire dawg!!!
Wait, Sagat and Zangief were in a jet and then they switched to a helicopter?
LOL Bison's goofy-ass smiles at the end of the episode had me rollin'!! I can't believe some idiots made a cartoon based on that crappy 1994 movie. And gave all the asians BROWN hair when the vast majority actually have black hair.
No! Don't kill my friend 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm in tears 😭
6:52 Chun Li, I think your face has shrunk in the drier.
Chunners is looking pretty rough @ 6:55. Whew!!!
That Shadoloo ASCII art, i hope the oil protest group doesn’t smear it with mashed potatoes.
9:23
😂😂😂😂
Don't shoot my friend, I love him 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
From enemies to frenemies.
6:53 i love you big forehead chun li
Everytime I hear Blanka speaking I keep thinking Angela from Night Of The Demons.
Tipsy Matt McMus is hi-larious
Not Akuma!!! Nooooo!!!!!🥒
Years later we would get zoom in close up of faces and feet in Street Fighter 6
Too bad there's no Guile close up that references this episode.
I like to imagen that Guile and Doctorlady got together over there mutual love for tank tops
