    He's revealing inner door stuff that high level martial artists typically hoard for themselves and only disclose to very select few. Goes to show the depth of his knowledge and the lineage of his art.

    Love the instruction, but wish the camera had pulled back to show the feet better. In the vast majority of this particular video we only see the upper body, but without seeing the footwork the context is incomplete.

    Great! I'm so happy you mentionned it "reference point" why "traditionnaly" you punch like this in silat? Did you say "the wrong way to punch"? Right lead punch while in reality people right rear punch, with a torque at the waist the shoulder line crossing the feet line why not train from the begining in the situation that occur the most? All traditionnal system like SSBD or Serak/Bukti Negara are beautiful but how to apply those jurus, langka, all the masuk, kinjit, sapu and beset on somebody when you learn everything from a wrong start?

    • @Rubatacchini
      @Rubatacchini Před 7 lety +3

      how to apply those jurus, langka, etc...? well first thing you study the art.
      I can assure you for direct experience that when you understand the principles there is no difference between right, left, front punch or rear, you see only different options ;)

    • @orionbassmaster666
      @orionbassmaster666 Před 7 lety +2

      Buddy, you're over thinking the entire process, every movement falls into place naturally, when u get the basis down to a "T" then your body starts to adjust to the movement and accordingly adjust the jurus etc to the situation you're in, indo Malay martial arts are flexible and adaptive by nature and the teaching methodology isn't as rigid as you may think, it allows room for understanding and innovation, which will surface with the years as your body and thought pattern become seasoned with various strategic approaches to most basic of footwork to the most complex of knife work/edge weapons.
